Hi,
I have a problem with my S5. After flashing a custom ROM I found out that my IMEI is null, and so the EFS is corrupted. I tried to restore it from backup only to find out that I have deleted the backup
What can I do now? I anything? Would restoring EFS from another S5 (with damaged mainboard) could be a solution?
Generally everything works except of phone modem, I have got IMEI written - is there maybe a method to set the IMEI without EFS or a method to create EFS? I already tried sam IMEI changers, but I found out that they only do this on the application level - apps will be able to read different IMEI for licensing, but phone still sees NULL IMEI.
You can't restore EFS from another S5 coz it'll brick your device.

Found sth like this:
Never tried coz never lost IMEI
In the dialer, type- *#197328640# or *#*#197328640#*#*
>You will be prompted into the Command mode, provided On the screen, Select on Common, normally option 6
> Now Select (FTM) Option 1
>FTM is for debugging and testing., (Field Test Mode)
>If (FTM) is on, you will have to turn this OFF
>As soon as you turned this off your NULL or altered IMEI number will be restored
>(Important) Without leaving the Command screen, press the Menu key, the button that’s found left of the Home button.
> Select Key input and enter option 2. In this case, you want to turn it off
>Wait for a minute. This will turn your FTM OFF
> Remove your battery and SIM card for two minutes
>Place your battery in your phone, (important) do not place your SIM card in.
> When the phone is booted, enter the command mode again dial – *#197328640#
>Select the Debug Screen, normally option 1
>After that, choice phone control, option eight
>Click on nas control, option 3
>Afterwards, click “RRC (HSDPA), option 5
>To Fix not registered on network or Null IMEI #, click RRC revision, option 2.
>Choose the released of your phone, here we will choose option 5 (HSDPA only)
>Final step to fix Null IMEI not registered on a network for Samsung Galaxy is to turn off your phone and insert your Sim card
or
>Insert your Sim card, afterwards reboot your phone
Thanks - are you sure about this bricking device?
I already tried this numbers but it always says "No Network", The only instruction that I found was to use *#0011# and it goes into the Service Menu, but it doesn't look like that described. There is something called NVM restore, but it doesn't do anything with IMEI
I am gonnna post screenshots at evening.

Yes I'm sure about bricking. EFS partition on your phone is made for ONLY YOUR PHONE. This is sth like restoring TA Partition on xperia devices. When you flash ta from another xperia, you brick device
Tapatalked from SM-G900F
I read someone saying they had successfully restored a backed up EFS partition from an identical model S5 to another, and it worked
The problem I can see, is if the original gets blocked by the carrier, chances are so will the clone
Not sure about network issues having two identical devices on the same network at the same time, both making calls, might end up like an IP conflict
Pretty sure that transferring IMEI from one device to another is against the law too......
Sent from my rooted, debloated stocKK kn0x0 SM-G900F
Yes, I also know that is it against the law, but I have a complete phone with broker mainboard (so even the IMEI is written on the back), and I would like to use this opportunity to copy the IMEI from old (broken) mainboard to the new one. It even looks better than the situation when I have got and old case with written IMEI that doesn't correspond to the IMEI on the new mainboard.
The mainboard is broken that way, that there is short-circuit somewhere and the CPU is constantly using power and it get's really hot, so it use useless.
I am trying to flash EFS, let's see what is gonna to happen

1. Tried flashing EFS = nothing happened
2. Tried flashing EFS + Modem + ModemST1 + ModemST2 = nothing happened
3. Restored android to STOCK
I can't get into the service menu.
The only Service menu that I can get into is this one, but there isn't any fixing IMEI/NVRAM option
Code:
*#0011#
Menu > Back
Menu > keyInput "Q"
Menu > keyInput "0000"
Wait for few seconds

Hi,
you have 2 options
1. Use Samsung Kies which will repair you efs
2. Flash with Odin the official rom 5.0
If you install another efs, the data installed may be not work, even if it is same model. In S5, nothing to do with the IMEI
You can also root the phone and with adb commands, erase all the efs
you can also use Z3X tools
Hi,
Thanks - some new ideas
So if I understand you correctly, I have 3 options:
1. Use Samsung Kies which will repair you efs - how to repair EFS with Samsung Kies?
2. Flash with Odin the official rom 5.0 -> I tried flashing oryginal 4.4 and it didn't helped. Should flashing 5.0 help?
3. You can also root the phone and with adb commands, erase all the efs - What will erasing EFS will give me? Shouldn't I have EFS partition with some data?
you can also use Z3X tools -> ok... I am gonna figure this out, 'cause I don't know it yet

HERES A VIDEO IN HOW TO DO IT NOT BY ME https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFL3HoK7bbA
It tells me that my serial number is incorrect when I am certain that it's not
It seems that Samsung has no firmware for the SM J700T so it won't work.

Smart switch is garbage. Use updates by android aka updato on play store. Download firmware, extract on PC, flash with Odin.
Cfauto root works with sm-j700t 7.1.1 .
I updated while rooted just to see if it would brick or not . Didn't brick updated through smart switch.
Then reflashed the Cfauto sm-j700t and it worked.
U can just flash any root zip, auto root takes longer

I've seen multiple posts in the threads regarding the unlocked SM-G955U1 firmware on how to get the phone back to the original carrier firmware in the event somebody wanted to return the phone, or whatever.
So there are a couple of different ways, you can use Odin and download the appropriate firmware for your model/carrier via a site like Sammobile, etc... or what may be the best option (if you don't have a premium subscription to some of the firmware sites) is just use the SmartSwitch app from Samsung.
My device is a Verizon SM-G955U that I was able to successfully flash to the SM-G955U1 G955U1UEU1AQDC firmware.
If you open up SmartSwitch it actually identifies my G955U as a G955U1 due to the firmware, so you'll need to make sure you don't have your phone connected to your computer while you're doing this, otherwise SmartSwitch will simply download and re-install the latest G955U1 firmware version available, not your carrier specific version.
1) Click "More" from the main screen of SmartSwitch
2) Click "Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization"
3) Click "Device Initialization"
4) If you do not have your device attached to your computer via USB, you'll be given a field to enter your model number, if you do have your device attached to your computer, exit, unplug your device from your computer, and try again.
5) Type your model number in (e.g. SM-G955U) and click "Search".
6) You'll be prompted for the serial number of your device, you can get this from the Status screen of your phone.
a) Your serial number will be checked against a Samsung database to make sure it is both valid, and it matches the device model number that you entered.
b) If you get an error, make sure that you have entered the correct model number of your phone, Samsung is using a serial number database so that people cannot use this application to install other versions of the
S8 firmware on models which they were not meant to be on (e.g. I can't type SM-G955U1 as my model and then use my serial number without getting an error on this screen, since my serial number is linked to a
SM-G955U model.
7) Follow instructions, you'll need to re-connect your phone, and boot it to the bootloader screen by powering it down, holding the bixby + volume down + power buttons.
im sorry man smart switxh dosent have this anymore
Hi guys.
I am new here.
Can you tell me what should I need to check to change my Android Firmware.
I have S4 i9500 GT Probably China.
model : jftlespr
Android 4.4.2
CSC = CHN
PDA = CHN
Recovery mode : TWRP
I want to updrage to Android 5 but in my phone there is no Software Update Option in my Phone.
Later I downloaded an app from Play Store name " Phone info : Samsung" . This app shows all the info about my phone.
There is an Option for firmware checking on this app and this app gave me options for "I9500ZCUJOH2_I9500CHNJOH2_CHN" . This firmware is downloaded in my PC but Still I need to check before bricking my phone.
Reply Fast PLZ
What is the model number in download mode?
I don`t understand you.
I have S4 I9500 GT
PDA & CSC of my Phone is CHN
Current Firmware is : I9500XXUFNB7
and "Phone info : Samsung" app from Play Store gave me suggestion to use this ROM : "I9500ZCUJOH2"
And the suggested Firmware in downloaded in my PC but I haven`t installed it yet.
Also I need to know that will I lose my IMEI after installing.
Download mode will tell you the exact model #. I don't trust software to do that.
If the phone is from China, you may be very limited in terms of ROMs that can be flashed to the phone.
How can I give you link of my uploaded image. I am new member I can't post links here.
Boot into download mode and get the model number from there. Your post had conflicting information as the gt-i9500 was never sold by sprint yet the model is jfltespr.
Power off the phone completely by removing its battery for 5 seconds.
Re-insert the battery back into its place.
Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons, all at the same time.
Release the buttons only when the ‘Warning!!’ message appears.
Next, press Volume Up button to confirm that you wish to enter Download Mode.
Hi Guys,
i need the original Software of the Samsung J7 Duos of 2017.
The Phone has the Number SM-J730FZKDDBT
Could somebody give me the correct Software?
Had a big Problem with the phone and accidentlly deleted the original Software. :crying:
Now the Phone is running with the J7 Pro Software an i have Blur and sometimes Stripes on the Phone.
I found one here: https://mega.nz/1dd9e683-af73-4d23-8f0c-1adab29698d9
Note that this is the firmware for the SM-J730F as they come in Switserland.
Another (better) option imho is to download Smart Switch from the Samsung website. (link: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/smart-switch)
Once installed, it's not that difficult to get your original firmware back.
1) Make a backup of your phone (as it will be erased completely)
2) Switch off your phone and boot it into "Odin mode" (hold volume down + power + home until the device boots, release the power button but keep holding the other buttons. Once you have the confirmation screen, confirm using volume up)
3) In Smart Switch (once installed) click on "more" followed by "Emergency software recovery and initialization".
4) When the following screen is loaded, click on the "Device intialization" tab.
5) Enter your Model name at the bottom (in capital letters) and click on "search".
6) When your model number is recognized, you will be prompted to enter your serial number.
7) Once entered, click "ok" to start searching for the firmware for your original region.
8) Follow the next steps as explained on-screen (don't have my tablet - Samsung Galaxy Tab S - with me now so cannot give you any more detailed instructions).
Note that I cannot find my phone when entering the model and serial number (SM-J730F/DS. Model not found, and combination with SM-J730F and my serial number gives no results)
