Red pointer on display - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i have an Nexus 4 with a problem . Sometimes i have a Red pointer on display. All pixel work great.
It happened someone ?

Screen shot?

impossible to capture a screenshort, because when it appears and pulls down the curtain notification disappears instantly

Go to settings and look in developer options under input or drawing and see if any boxes are checked for showing pointers or anything like that.

Droid RAZR mini

Don't see a forum yet for this. I'm confused on something. How will the mini have the active display if the screen is tft instead of amoled??? Won't that destroy the battery?

I'm hoping it's a mistake and that the mini has AMOLED like the other two.

definitely doesnt
So its basically a downgrade when it comes to the screen.
bump.........
But Lcd means less battery drain than amoled display

Sounds like the Mini has an LED indicator (old school) and the active display isn't as "prevalent" as on the other devices.

What do you mean about active display prevalent?
Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk 4
It will not light up regularly or breath it sounds like. The led will tell you a notification exists and then you have to nudge the phone
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
But do you think is a bad thing not have active display prevalent?
For battery life is better led notification and tft display...

Led plus tft doing anything is way worse than amoled doing small number of pixels more frequently

can you make an example?
my motorola defy+ has tft display and led notification, and my galaxy S2 has amoled display and no led notifications...
in silent mode i have to turn on the s3 display to see notifiations or if i use an app like NO LED it's a big battery drain...
in the defy+ i can set led color for every notification, green for whatsup, red for sms, blu for facebook, yellow for missing calls...

You are comparing something incomparable. It sounds like on the X or Ultra, the active display breathes regularly etc. On the mini, the screwed up sticking with tft and so they just have the led fire to led you know there is an active display notification pending

so with led there is a less battery drain than active display breathes... do you think?

Removing alarm clock from status bar

Anyone know how I can remove alarm clock from the status bar? I tried searching the N4 forums and can't find anything.
Thanks.
I'm not sure if it's a custom rom feature, but do you have the show icon option in the clock app settings?
Swyped from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
I'm using pureSpeed X. It doesn't include it. I look under my clock setting app aswell.
Check out the xblast module for the xposed framework. It might include that option
Swyped from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
You can do that with novalauncher but requires root

First issue I've noticed..

I have snap800 version and brightness set to 100%.
I noticed that after some minutes of usage my phone becomes hot and brightness goes down. This happens very often. Did you notice the same thing?

Unsure about temperature but look in Settings -> Display, ensure auto brightness is off, change colour settings to standard and turn off adaptive brightness and similar stuff.

The S4 has the same issue. After a while the screen dims down. Even on the GOOGLE EDITION version.
It doesn't happen on CM roms though do it's a TW thing.

Help me for GPS please!

Hello wararmy!
I have a question about GPS of nexus 4
Is there a mod or tricks that upgrade or get a better and more precision GPS signal and fix?
I have an error of 4 meters.. I need better precision..
Thanks!

Have you tried correcting the location of the ntp servers?
Sent from my N4, wanna know what I am doing? Check http://team-fun.eu
Best you can hope for with most smartphones is 2-3 meters (due to battery life priority & low chipsets used etc)
Decidated GPS units can do around 1 meters
To maximise accuracy, the same rules apply as normal GPS, open sky, clear weather, no tall buildings to minimise reflections
I use TopNTP.
works fine for me.

Country server which you add manually in gps settings for faster location locking.
To be honest this phone shouldn't need such mods.
It gets super fast signal wherever I am. Only cases can create gps locking problems.

[MOD] Lower Brightness Display

Hi!
I'm looking for an application that can lower the voltage of the display.
I do not try to make an application filter for the screen. I need a real decrease in brightness.
Is there a solution?
UP: no solution?
Inviato dal mio Nexus 4 utilizzando Tapatalk
Well, gravitybox xposed module allows adjusting the screens brightness settings.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
You can use lux auto brightness too.

Don't work on my Nexus4... On your own?

I'm not sure if it's possible as of now to edit the actual voltages of the display, but I was able to achieve an extremely dark display (barely visible in pitch black room) by doing this:
Installing AK kernel, then installing synapse. Going to the tab labeled gamma, and ticking a box to set the LCD backlight to be raised exponentially.
I would highly recommend trying this. It should only take a moment.
Connor Baker
I already use the kernel AK.
I installed the application synaps, but I did not find any Tab gamma nor screen...

Fantastic, this is the great solution!
Thank you!

Damn, with this solution, I realized that I have problems with automatic brightness adjustment. This is always the minimum value .. Is it possible to somehow set the brightness levels right?

I believe that CM may allow you to set the levels for automatic brightness, but I'm not sure.
