Porting Ubuntu Touch? - Milestone 2 General

Ubuntu Touch source and porting guide is released
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
I wonder if any of our devs started or willing to start working on it. What I have understood from the guide is that porting/building Ubuntu is very similar to CM.
The board is open for discussion.

That would be great!

[Q] How-to build a ROM (Gingerbread) from source

hi
hope someone help me to build a ROM (Gingerbread) from the source on Ubuntu or another distribution like Backtrack which it build on Ubuntu too
sry for my English
i find this http://deodexed.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2010/10/How_to_Build_stock_AOSP-09-21-10.pdf
but what i have to change in these commands to build it for our hero not Motorola
Currently they can't build a working Gingerbread for the Hero, because there's a lack of drivers for the hardware. It's possible to make/convert these but it takes time. Cleverer people than me are talking in these threads:

If you want to experiment with building roms for your Hero, have a look at CyanogenMod's wiki:

[Q] Ubuntu touch?

I have a question for enthusiasts and developers simply understood in this sense. Is it possible to port ubuntu touch to our device? And is it worth?
Yes you can port Ubuntu Touch to your device. It is very similar to porting a CM rom but a bit different. You can check the ubuntu site, there you will find the whole step to step guide for porting it your device.

C and .img start point

Hello,
I have an Acer Iconia a500 with Skrilax_CZ's bootloader V8, and I was wondering how to make my own firmware from scratch, in C.
How can I make a .img to install it on my tablet?
Is there a good lib to use in C for this tablet?
There is a lot more questions I would like to ask, but this two will be a good start.
I know it's a big project to make my own firmware, but I rellay like low-level programming!
well it's a linux kernel modified to run this tablet on android GUI
tegraowners.com has developed many kernels for this as well as a lubuntu front end with the latest linux kernel.
the android development is closed code but the linux kernel development is posted to github and maintained
perhaps that is where you want to look.
I doubt that you will get much step by step from the developers but the linux kernels should get you a good starting point

[Request] Ubuntu Touch port for land

I am bored of Android and don't have enough money to buy iphones so I want to try Ubuntu touch but very few Nexus devices are officially supported.
They do have a detailed guide to port it to any other device but i Don't have knowledge about how to build it. I am noob and it isn't my field (I am a Mech Engg Student ?)
So it is my humble request if any dev could build it for Redmi 3sp?
This is the detailed guide:
https://docs.halium.org/en/latest/
I am posting this in ROM thread because i didn't get any response from any dev in discussion thread. Hopefully someone will see this and port Ubuntu touch to land
I also want to use Ubuntu Touch in my Redmi3S, I searched a lot but it's still unavailable for this device. I'm also waiting to get an Ubuntu ROM for Redmi3S. Hope somebody will build it soon for us!
Afaik ubuntu touch has been discontinued after they shifted to Gnome from Unity.
