Thin case - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well I want to get a case for my M as my hands get sweaty easily.
I really want a thin, durable, smooth or rubbery case.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Incipio feather for a slim hard case. Cruzerlite androidified for a slim tpu case

I have the Fosmon Dura S on mine. I purchased from Amazon. It retains the compact size of the M, but it protects the sides and rear from sweaty palms. I have the same problem.

Have you used the Incipio? I read review of the matte finish wearing off in like 2 weeks.

I have the black one and use it pretty frequently and have not had that issue. I've only had it about a month though

The case I use gives it some protection, but I don't want anything clunky and I really like how the M looks, so I normally go caseless. I may try out the feather case from incipio, though.

The Diztronic TPU case works really well. Costs about $10 on Amazon.

I second that.... I have five cases now. I bought the body glove first and its still my favorite. Not quite as slim as the tpu or incipio, but very slim for the protection it offers

I occasionally use a black rubberized case that is fairly thin and not obtrusive. I bought it on Amazon for next to nothing and it works well for what it is. It's not overly protective, but it will protect against scratches. It's good quality and keeps the phone from sliding around on surfaces, but nothing fancy. If you want a thin, clean look it's definitely an option that would work.

i got a similar one, and don't like it. it's a bit too rubbery whereby it's tough to get in and out of my pocket.

saw that, but it just makes it look bulky. i really enjoy the phone being so thin, that i don't even realize that it is in my pocket. i've realized that this phone is made rather tough with the teflon backing and gorilla glass... but of course, it's still prone to chips/scratches/dents from it falling and whatnot...

I got a cheap silicone case for my M from eBay, and it provides the scuff/drop protection. I rely on the durability of the phone to take the impact. And I'm super careful. Screen protectors are good as well!

Qmadix Holster / Shell combo
I found this Qmadix holster / shell combo at one of my local wireless stores. It covers the back and sides well, with just the tiniest lip on the front to keep the shell attached and raise the screen off of the table if you put your phone face down. There are some soft-rubber elements that help with grip, but most of the shell is a brushed metal-looking plastic.
I rarely use the holster, but the shell is on my phone 24/7

[Q] Will you be buying a case for your Nexus 4?

I say this because after reading the verge review, Joshua knocked the phone over and the back glass broke.
Well I sure dont want to risk so I will.
Just ordered a Best Skins Ever full body skin, should offer some protection without ruining the look of the phone
Cruzerlite FTW
Maybe if there is one with the flip cover that doesn't add too much bulk otherwise no case. It's too pretty.

SquareTrade or something is a popular choice I keep hearing about
I'll make my own protective cover, using double sided adhesive tape, liquid teflon or silicon. Modeling that to just fit Nexus 4's back and adding 1mm to its thinness.
I may get the bumper case

Yeah, probably a TPU one.
I will most definitely get a Noreve case for it.
Yep, a black rubber one for the back/sides and a clear skin for the screen.
I voted no, but would use a thin clear case if they became available just for scratch protection. I don't care for the TPU cases as they add some bulk.
Will be getting a flip case...
I don't know really, I've never had a glass parts phone, only plastic.
I saw the Verge video too and the crack was pretty annoying since once you see it you can't ignore it.
But then again with screenprotectors and cases the phone gets less comfortable, besides Gorilla Glass 2 is supposed to be really strong and flexible. Once I get the phone and use it for a bit I'll rethink and definitely check out this thread again to see who recommends what cases etc.
Yes, but I'll only use it for the first month or so. After that naked.

If TPU gel cases are fine then Cruzerlite is pretty good. They are a bit expensive but if you buy two, you can usually get one for free from them.

Nillkin is a very nice and fitted case but it would not protect it from a drop... Just learned that the hard way earlier today... Although it appears it covers the corner bezel... Mine managed to be chipped right next to the case. Today is a sad day

Case advice. Looking for a support thin case. Any ideas?

OK so I've never used a case on any phone I've every owned because I've always hated how thick they were and made it impossible to fit in a belt style holster. Now however I definitely need one since the speaker is on the back making the phone impossible to watch videos or do anything with audio while laying the phone down. So I'm looking for something that's as thin add possible while also having a kick stand of some sort... Any ideas?

I heard the seidio case cases scratches on the bezel so u would have to put tape on the bezel to prevent the scratching. It also scratched their screen.

I didn't disappear. I threw the case in the trash before taking any pictures, mea culpa. I do have the holster which is nice. If you don't believe me please go for it, but it. will. scratch. your. phone. Just wait till the active case comes out. It looks nice and seems the inner layer is all silicone which is much more friendly on your phone than the plastic. The problem is, you just aren't going to find a hard slim case that wont scratch your phone unless the entire thing has a soft rubber inside, is tight in the case, and doesn't use any sort of sliding mechanism to fit together. It's the friction and whatever debris is in there that causes the scratching... on the glass. The plastic bezel is very soft. Doesn't take much to scratch it. Dust under a TPU case can scuff up the phone too, but not like the surface. You can use a TPU case with the surface. Looks fine and works great.
Just for your enjoyment... I did some dumpster diving through my kitchen trash can, but my wife took that trash out already. Got my arms full of meat juice, spit, eggs, and other nasty crap just to show that I'm not a troll, but the bag is apparently in the big can in the garage. Maybe I'll take some pics of that just to prove that I have the case. I have no axe to grind with Seidio. I've spent hundreds on their products. They just don't make a good surface case for the nexus 4. I just don't want people to damage a hard to find phone and in the process, waste $60ish hard earned on a product that does more damage than it protects.
Jayrod is not a troll and anything he says I believe he has helped me with countless things on here

Thanks for the recommendation mate, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. I mean I love that it can be a kickstand but I don't like the look of a folder clip looking thing on the back of my phone. ;(
I'm looking for something slim and thin as possible but has the option to prop my device up. Something like this but for the Nexus 4:

Zagg and a case. What do you use?

Ive been doing a lot of reading and havent seen too much in depth talk about the n4 with a zagg and case. Seems like every case i get bubbles my zagg around the edges as they currently dont have a "case friendly" one. Ive used zaggs for a long time and i really dont want to switch to anything else but this is getting frustrating and expensive. lol. So with that what cases are you guys using with a zagg?
no one uses a zagg with a case these days? :silly:
Zagg is a complete rip-off. I use XtremeGuard and a diztronic case. You'll love it.

It's a matter of patience. I hate putting on screen protectors. I really do. I started from the top to align the earpiece, proximity sensor and front camera. And when you use the case, you have to wedge the phone in so the case won't lift up the protector. If your case has a lip around the edges that will help a lot.

Chrome bezel = crap

Anyone else have scratches on the chrome bezel? I've owned 3 nexus 4s and can't seem to keep the bezel from getting scratches. My screen and everything else is mint but the bezel might as well be made of whatever it is this the most scratch prone material on earth.

The scratches actually all happened with the bumper on. I take care of my phone really well so I'm pretty sure dust got in between the bumper and phone and scratched it. It's more of a micro scuff than anything but I can still see it when I put it under a magnifying glass in a well lit room. Trust me you've got them too.

The problem is the bezel is plastic, not actually any type of metal. Google really should have made the bezel metal and it would have really improved the phones feel and quality. I have a diztronic case and even though I've had it on the whole time there are still scratches on the bezel, just a bunch short, faint ones. The case feels quite sharp on the inner edge and I think its what is actually scratching my bezel.

You can't powder coat plastic. One, it is non-conductive, and two, it will melt in the curing process even if you could somehow get the material to stick. And the vacu-formed chrome will make it tough to paint.
One thing you could do is to put a satin finish on it with a little wet sanding with 400-800 grit sandpaper, being careful not to sand through the chrome. I just keep the OEM bumper on it and I don't see it.

The HTC has a polished "bevel" machined into the top edges of the aluminum.
The Nexus 4 has a plastic "bezel" trim piece, that is vacu-form plated like the chrome pieces of a plastic model car kit.

Yeah... iPhone users had the same complaints. Aluminum is fairly soft so some folks noticed scratches on the beveled edges. But I would think you'd need to pocket your phone with keys or loose change for that to happen.
