Hi,
Am planning to revert back my phone from ICS due to battery drop.
So May i use RSD lite directly? or anyother method to revert back to Froyo?
Thanks in advance
you HAVE TO flash it via rsd lite, it's the better way, in according to me.
Thank you...
Can u share the link how to use rsd lite?

Why would you run RSD for when you have a locked bl? I only used RSD (once) to unlock my bl and i was told to never re-use RSD because many phones have been bricked using it.
Currently i use Tenfar's Clockwork Mod to flash roms, kernels, etc...
My advice is to stay away from RSD unless you have to unlock your bl.....then forget about it.
No its not safe to rsd down to 2.2. Brick. It MAY be "safe" to rsd to a fresh 2.3.4

Why would you want to downgrade? RSD is never good in the first place!
Just use fruit cakes...

NEVER use RSD to downgrade if you've installed Gingerbread. You will permanetly brick your phone. Look up how to unlock your bootloader, do that and install tenfar's CWM which you can find in the dev section. From there, get a froyo rom from the fruitcake thread which is also in the dev section. This is the ONLY safe way to downgrade.
okay I've updated into official 2.3
and I will keep the 2.3sbf and delete the previous version
thanks

Hi,
I had my droid X rooted and then did accepted the update to 2.2.1 before realizing this would cause issues. I'm now stuck at 2.2.1 and cannot update past that or downgrade or do anything. My phone still things its rooted but doesn't give me super user status. But programs identify it as rooted. I do have droid x bootstrapper on it however being an idiot I did not create a back up. Can anyone give me some guidance on how to fix this? I don't care if it is rooted anymore I'd just like to have it working properly.
thanks in advance for any advice,
Jeff
I'd use rsd lite and sbf using the sbf file for system version .340....check the stickies for guides on how to do that

I SBFed to .340 and can't get the .602 or .605 update. I think as they just started rolling out the 13mb .605 update they suspend the others for bandwidth purposes-my theory at least.
I've never flashed any sbf. Neither fixed nor full.. what I did was just installed 2ndinit on stock froyo, Installed cm7 then miui and I'm now on ms2ginger 2.1. So this means that I cannot downgrade to froyo anymore right?

Easiest way is to flash 2.2 SBF from you region/carrier. You can where to download and flash them in the sticky threads.

Downgradability is lost only when you flash an official motorola SBF of a higher version using RSDLite in bootloader mode. Custom ROMs (CWM zips, Nandroids) don't affect downgradability.
Oh thank you so much ...

i hope motorola think wisely to unlock its bootloaders to not lose its customers..

You should find here all info's about DEFY, but the short story about the bootloader is that, the locked bootloader prevents average users from damaging their phone on the software side, but it blocks all real development from dev's. The unlocked bootloader let's you do anything....almost to your phone and so dev's can really modd it as they want. Hope this helped.
Can i still downgrade if i install MSginger 3.0?
Yes u can downgrade your firmware

Hello all -
I have a DX running CM7 that I may need to return to OTA firmware and unroot. I searched but can't find anything specific to this device... 'lil help?
Google on how to SBF. There are many guides, and SBFing is a process that will return your device to complete stock.

I use sdlite4,8 for droidx to sbf that might be out a date is there a better sbf method?
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
The Linux method is all ways better than using RSD Lite. I don't always SBF with RSD Lite, but when I do, I use RSD Lite 4.9. It works for me.

I tried Linux before, I couldn't figure it out its been along time since Ive been using miui for about 3 months and haven't had to sbf in a while. I have a tf101 also been messing with it since Christmas how do you like it what are you running

I got it using RSD Lite via Win7.
The flash itself worked perfectly, although it would go into a bootloop on the final reboot. I had to clear caches using the stock recovery and all was well.
Thanks again guys, sometimes it just takes the right search terms to get everything squared away.

MIUI is seriously great. I've been using it since it's inception. I actually haven't even rooted my TF101 yet. Stock runs so smooth, it's unlike anything Motorola has ever released! I am contemplating rooting to install Ubuntu and maybe try out the Revolver rom.

So I know that the OTA update 2.3.4 (621) made flashing sbfs impossible due to it leading to a bricked phone, but if you use the new root method and successfully root the D2, does it fix this and make it possible to flash sbfs? For those who don't know, this is the new root method.

I don't think I can post links yet so just copy paste that into your search bar, or a higher ranked user post the link.
You can still flash sbfs you just can't downgrade thanks to the new bootloader

you are stuck with 621, and can only flash 621 sbf

If there is ever another update (highly doubt there ever will be) he/she could sbf that one too

i was trying to stick with what's avalible
a new update is about as likely as unlocking bootloader
