HD2 as wifi signal repeater?

I know this is a very long shot but I can access the internet through my router on my laptop and phone but my desktop can't seem to find it (it is quite old). I was just wondering if I could use my phone as a repeater for the signal?
Thanks

I'd say no chance to... Windows Seven (desktop) installs a software "miniport" which is a virtual wifi pendrive to do exactly that with your desktop. AFAIK there's nothing like it for Windows Mobile, and obviously while you're hooked on your wifi network with your hd2, you cannot use it for another purpose as well

Is there a way to make the Internet Sharing function use a wifi network rather than the mobile web?
WMWifirouter can do it, it has lots of different modes, including one that effectively turns your phone into an USB wifi adapter, so you can access wifi on your computer with it via usb.

That program works really well, thanks for your help!
fqrouter2 is the solution
Use fqrouter2 for rooted Android devices and you have a perfectly working WiFi Repeater (available free in Google Play Store)

Internet connection via USB

Hi,
I'm looking for a software solution that allows to connect an Android phone via USB in order to use the connection (WIFI or cable) active on the PC. It can be seen as a reverse-tether.
This was possible by default on every windows mobile phone via active sync.
Is it possible with Android?
I'd like to ask the same question

Find pdanet on the android market. Free version only lasts a month but its worth the 20 or so to buy it. Plug the phone into the pc, run the app, run the software on the pc, and voila you'll have a wired tether.

Ok but that's not what I'm looking for. Pdanet allows you to use the 3G internet connection of the phone with your laptop, what I want is the opposit: use the active connection of the PC with the phone.
Ahhh ok, my bad. Should've read a lil better and saw reverse tether lol. Maybe PM a dev asking if that's possible, or post in a general section if anyone would be willing to make an app like that (if possible) for you.

I use the application "Virtual Router"
with which I can set up my pc/laptop as an access point. I set up a SS-ID and a passkey. Then I use my phone to connect using WiFi. That way my phone connects to my pc using WiFi which makes it possible to use the LAN internet my laptop has
phone -----WiFi-----> Laptop --------LAN-------> Internet
Hope it helps
PC Internet > Router > Wifi > Android : Connectify
Laptop Internet > WIfi > Android : Connectify
PC Internet > USB Cable > Android : no idea! (my ex HD2 can do this flawlessly, with Winmo ofcourse)

[Q] Android phones can't use reverse tethering?

I'm used to surf and download to my windows phone through bluetooth using the internet on my computer. I't can't be done with my new android phone?
I dont see why Android would want to waste their time with such inferior methods. 3G is faster than bluetooth. But WiFi is the option to choose.
I need this feature too.
I think the OP wants his laptop as the access point....not his phone (tethering). This can be done with WinMo phones. It is useful in places where there is no free WiFi....like in my workplace we only use LAN with our laptops. Whenever I connect my Desire to my laptop via USB or BT, I hope I could then update weather and download and install apps on my HTC Desire using my laptop's internet connection.
The only way to do it without some root bluetooth hacking would be broadcasting wifi from your laptop. Mac OS has this built-in in the sharing preference pane, Windows can do it but there are a few more steps. Nothing hard.
Thierry Parent has put up a working solution here ...

Worked great for me !
Cheers,
Vikram.
Im running sense 3.0 3d ..its got options to do that once u plug in a USB cable

Droid Wireless Tethering
Google a program called gingersnap. it works. It gives super user rights. Be carefull your data usage will be high. Make sure you have unlimited data. you will also need to download a wifi tether program

using broadband connection WIRED

Hello... I have broadband connection.
I surf internet by using wifi tether. ( Creating WiFi hotspot on laptop)
My question is, In case of PC(where there is no WiFi device) is there any way that I use broadband without wireless tethering. I mean connecting USB cable to the computer and from that accessing broadband. (Means internet)?
If anyone knows this then please suggest what to do?
huummm....I end up with an application called ReverseTether. Before I google the issue and find this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929918
Now both working fine, , but still I cant download market apps.
The reverse tether application works good but have only one problem is that at the time of "appear as a 3G connection" it wont work.
At that time " Network NDIS LAN driver" shows that cable is unplugged. Application shows that it connected but nothing work.
So what I do is I untick option " appear as a 3G connection" and run it again,,, at this time is work but market application which requires data plan connectivity or wifi that doesnt work.
Same as with the tool. You cant download market apps.
If anyone have the solutions then please let me know.
Thank you.
I will test and try to find your answer, maybe tomorrow

Turning a phone into wifi router(using pc internet)

Hello, so i have a spare phone at my home but i don't have a wifi router.
I wanted to ask is it possible to turn my phone into a wifi router using my pc internet. I know that it is possible to use it as a wifi hotspot by sharing your data plan or reverse tether pc internet but that's not what i'm looking for.
As i mentioned earlier i wish it to work as a wifi router so it should be able to work as a wifi hotspot but not sharing my data plan but the reverse tethered internet from my pc.
I have an idea what you need:
1. Your Computer has to have drivers to host an USB tethering connection. So far, it only has the drivers to receive one.
2. Your mobile has to have a driver to receive an USB tethering connection. So far, it only has the drivers to host one.
Edit: This alredy exists and is called Reverse Tethering, you find it in this forum. First search, then talk...
Routing to the wifi tethering should work, if not, have a look in the Routing tables.

Lol you don't have to be such a jerk.
I had tried it some time ago. Otherwise i wouldn't have asked this question.
And to be sure 100% i just tried it again. Tethering part works but sharing it via wifi hotspot doesn't.(The guy who made it confirmed it doesn't work in that way, that's why i'm looking for a solution)
I tried using this method then and now too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371345
