Hi,
I'm noob and english isn't my native language so sorry for the mistakes or others.
I've a problem with the update 4.2.2.
I have to erase the data of "Google services framework" and close it.
Then I download the update and I have to reboot the n4 for installing the update.
I do this and after the reboot I have this message in TWRP custom recovery:
Updating partition details...

E:Error installing zip file '/cache/de8b8d101614.signed-occam-JDQ39-from
Can you say me how fix this problem.
I would like to have all stock but just rooted.
Thanks a lot & sorry for my bad english.
Replace the EmailGoogle.apk that's missing
The message is telling you that it can't find the Gmail app, likely because you deleted it. Put it back (reinstall) and try again.

I can't find it on the playstore.

I think they're referring to the GAPPS package that includes all the Google apps

Your phone has to be stock for the OTA update to work.
Stock recovery, kernel, etc. Your phone can be rooted, but you can't have any modified (including removed) system files.
You could just download the factory image yourself and flash the parts separately.
or you can just flash any of the stock/rooted roms available here on xda

Did you check to make sure the MD5 hash matched after downloading the update.zip? (To make sure the file was not corrupted)
I saw someone mention this problem earlier but searched for it and can't seem to fnd the particular thread. Copied the file to my phone, renamed it update.zip, etc.
Ran it to update from SD Card, and it gives me an error: " Assert failed, apply_patch_check("/system/bin/playlogo") Then a huge random string of numbers.
I'm running stock rom but with noobs one click root...any suggestions?
Under it also says: E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip (status 7)

Before anyone freaks on me asking for help i have tried all the other fixes and they dont work for my problem.
i havent deleted any apps, im rooted, i havent manually changed any files other than build.prop and i have already converted it back to original.
i HAVE had to resort to the chinese update to fix a problem from borked ubuntu install.
and here is a copy of the last part of my last_log

just for ease of retyping i replaced the long list of numbers/alpha with ### each instance is the same identical numbers on my log though.
after it tries to install the update i get the triangle and then reboots to the way it was prior.
Your boot partition / kernel (/dev/block/mmcblk0p2) doesn't match what the update expects. Have you by any chance flashed the chinese update before?

Sorry for the links, but I'm new user, so I can't post outside links.
I'm trying to install firmware (download(.)lenovo(.)com/slates/think/tablet1/ThinkPadTablet_A310_03_0069_0121_ROW.zip) from lenovo firmware list (download(.)lenovo(.)com/slates/think/tablet1/) on my Thinkpad Tablet 16Gb 3G.
Firstly, when I just tried to use it as backup (CWM) it fails just saying "md5 mismatch". I think it was fully wrong way.
Then, I tried to install it from "install zip from sdcard" CWM command. It fails with this output:
-- Installing: /sdcard/update.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
assert failed: file_getprop("/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint") == "Lenovo/ThinkPadTablet/Indigo:3.1/ThinkPadTablet_A310_02/0039_0089_ROW:user/release-keys" || file_getprop("/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint") == "Lenovo/ThinkPadTablet/Indigo:4.0.3/ThinkPadTablet_A400_03/0069_0121_ROW:user/release-keys"
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip

Then, I understand that in zip I downloaded there was no /system/build.prop. I found some version of this file, but for US and changed all occurences of US to ROW. That's what I've got: paste(.)ubuntu(.)com/1676846/. It concains this string:
ro.build.fingerprint=Lenovo/ThinkPadTablet/Indigo:3.1/ThinkPadTablet_A310_02/0039_0089_ROW:user/release-keys
Click to collapse
But now I get the same error as when there was no build.prop at all.
What have I to do?
Thank you, Dmitry.
Hi,
firmware updates should come OverTheAir, not by downloading something.
There is an option in Settings->About where you can check for updates.
Maybe this ROM doesn't match your tablet or current ROM (if it's just a partial update).
If you're absolutely sure that this ROM matches your current configuration (and ONLY then):
I think the problem isn't in the zip, but on your tablet.
The assertions are in the zip and check for the target system.
This should prevent you from accidentally installing the wrong ROM.
So check your tablet's /system/build.prop
If you force the update by editing your build.prop, you may brick it!!!

The 4.2.2 update appears to fail on my rooted, (mostly) stock Nexus 7 because I uninstalled the stock Google "Currents" app. CWM 6.0.2.3 log sez:

So, I reinstalled "Currents" from the Play store, didn't help. Used Ti Backup to turn it into a system app, didn't help. Based on poking about in system/app it looks like I need to return 4.1.1 "Currents.apk" and "Currents.odex" to system/app. Is there an easy way to get those two files? Unfortunately (mea culpa, mea maxima culpa) I don't have any sort of backup I can pull them from.
Edited to add: When I said (mostly) stock, it IS stock except for deleting Currents; other than root & CWM, I've made no other mods (to the best of my recollection, anyway ...)
Hi,
I had the same problem when I tried to update my rooted Nexus 7 3G OTA it always said "assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/Currents.apk, .." and aborted the process.
The problem was obviously because I deinstalled Currents with RootAppDelete but I found a workaround which may help you too.
- Install Currents again form the PlayStore.
- Pick a File Manager and go to /data/app/ and find the apk-file of Currents (com.google.android.apps.currents)
- put this file in /system/app/ and rename it to "Currents.apk". I also set the permissions to rw-r--r-- like the other apks but I don't know if this is necessary (it's easy to change them with e.g. ES File Explorer)
- protect your root (rootkeeper) and start the update again :fingers-crossed:
This does the trick for me, I kept all my data and my root permissions.
