next time, draw the pattern down before you confirm it.
I dont know if there is any other solution, but if you want to make a factory reset, then it doesn't need to go access the phone.
To do that, follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
Maybe you should wait one day to see if anyone has another solution before reset to factory condition.

I doubt there's going to be an easy solution, that would defeat the purpose of security.
Vol-down and power button will boot you into bootloader mode, from there you can use the vol buttons to select recovery.
Hold vol-up and press power button, repeat until you see some text at the top of the screen. You should be able to select "factory reset".
Good luck!

I have the opportunity to purchase a Touch cheap. The reason he is selling it so cheap is because it is password locked and he can't remember the password.
So my question is can I still upgrade the ROM when it is password locked? (and will this remove the password restriction?)
Please reply ASAP as he is waiting for me to get back to him. Thanks.
Yes, you can. You just have to go into bootloader mode and flash the ROM..very simple.
perfect. Thanks.
I think that a "hard reset" resolve this too.
Or not??????
I have the phone now, how do I do a hard reset?
A hard reset should also get the job done:
"To do a hard reset hold the send and end keys (green and red hard buttons) and then poke the circle on the bottom with the stylus."
That worked. Thanks again.
Hi everyone,
Just purchased a galaxy tab on ebay and when i got it, it came attached with the previous owners google account.
No matter what i try, "factory data reset", "remove all applications and try to remove google account" nothing works?
even factory data resets will come back with his account installed?
is there anything i can do to remove his account and add mine?
Thanks.
Go to settings - accounts and sync, click the account and select remove account.

Yes I've tried this it says
"This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data). You do that in the Settings application, under Privacy."
so i tried deleteting all the market apps and still no go. I must have factory reseted like 25 times already and as soon as it starts up the account is preloaded.
I have reformatted my sdcard, even tried removing the sdcard completely while i factory reset.
nothing is working is there any thing im missing?
Best bet is switch ot off. Hold the up key whilst pressing the power button which will take u into the recovery menu.
Select factory reset on there. That will set it as from the factory for sure!

Well maybe this?
http://www.mygalaxytab.net/samsung-galaxy-tab-how-to/how-to-remove-gmail-account/
Or a hard reset this way:
Reset Galaxy Tab with Hardware Keys
If Android OS is not loading then you can hard reset Galaxy Tab using hardware Keys combination.
Make sure tab is turned off, Press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds to turn it off.
Press and hold the “Volume Up” and “Power” buttons at the same time, when logo appears on the screen release the “Power” button and continue press the “Volume” button
When recovery screen appears use “Volume Up/Down” buttons to navigate and select “wipe data / Factory reset” by pressing the “Home” or “Power” button

Well, then i dont know how to be helpfull further. the only thing i wouldt do in youre case, is flash a rom?!
The RotoJMIv2 is a nice one. If you flash it with Odin and use the pit-file as wel, youre phone will be reformatted and i suppose the phone is then completly clean.
Ok I contacted Samsung technical support when I was having a similar problem and they instructed me to power the tab down and once off, press and hold BOTH volume buttons at the same time and press and hold the power button and continue through the menus, if this does not work you can contact Samsung personally if you like the number is: 1-888-987-4357

Don't know if you've fixed it yet or tried this, but adding a new account should allow you to remove it.
Was there ever a resolution to this problem? My 'refurbished' tab is doing the exact same thing.
I've flashed it using Odin with both the original EA24 and rooted gingerbread ROMs mentioned in this thead.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133053&highlight=reinstall+applications+flash+gingerbread
No effect. The Tab 'works' after being flashed, but still has the same problem.
I've factory reset it both through the settings menus and also on the recovery boot screen.
Still, the previous account persists.
It will also not remember any changes I make to it after a reboot. No wifi networks are remembered, no applications I install remain. It behaves the exact same way on both EA24 and gingerbread.
Is this a hardware problem of some kind?
Couldn't find a thread with precisely same situation - this morning I left my Iconia with WiFi off on standby with plenty of battery left (70ish %), only to just find it powered off. Now when I try to power it on, it stays in the Android boot animation and doesn't go anywhere from there.
And like I said in the title, it isn't rooted or in any other way hacked, so this is really weird. I think a factory reset would make it work, maybe, but if anyone has any other ideas I'd love to hear them before resorting to wiping.
Also I have no idea how to do a factory reset without CWM. Long press reset button doesn't seem to work?
Hold Volume Down while turning Power On?
Nope...it tries to run update.zip

A simple method for wiping is described in this thread.
Alternatively you can connect an USB keyboard, boot to recovery (vol-down + power) and press HOME on the keyboard. This will open a menu where you can select factory reset.
It got stuck at "Erasing cache" but I just shut it down and rebooted, now it started. Thanks a lot. Somehow I think I'm going to root it now and put CWM so I won't have to lose all my data because STOCK ROM crashes for some weird reason and I don't have a backup.
in my opinion u should just go ask for replacement....
Posting for a friend here. Running the Verizon note 3 on what I assume is the most up to date stock software.
Basically he informed me that he wiped cache from recovery because his phone "was having issues" after he rebooted his home screen pin unlock is saying he entered the wrong pin. Is there any way short of a factory reset that will fix this. Thanks for your help

We'd need a bit more info but here goes.
If he's pure stock they can try going into download mode and doing a hard reset. Turn off phone and follow these steps.
1) Press and hold the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time. For about 5 to 8 seconds, the phone will reload.
2) Release all buttons as soon as you see the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 logo.
3) In the Android system recovery mode, use the volume rocker to highlight wipe data/factory reset, and then press the Power button to select.
4) Select Yes — delete all user data
5) Next, select reboot system now.
He'll have to redo his apps and stuff all over again but he'll be into his phone.
If he is rooted and running a custom rom just reboot and hit safestrap recovery button on start up and reflash rom. You are assuming he on just stock software but we aren't 100% sure.

I stated that he was running stock. He is trying to find a way to do this without wiping data as he has information he doesn't have backed up that he doesn't want to loose
Thanks

I don't know what else he can do other than hard resetting the phone. Did he save it to his sd card or internal storage? If it's on his sd card he's fine. If it's on his internal storage I don't know what else to do. I don't think there's any software for that as it's his phone but bypassing the pin lock any other way might be considered phone piracy and I doubt the xda governing bodies will let that be posted here even if something existed. There was some software for the s3 that let you put your imei number back on your phone if you lost it flashing roms but xda had to not let it be posted here as it could have been used to activate a stolen phone. I don't know what else to do to help. He may have to bite the bullet on this one unless someone else knows something I don't.

Somehow my Pattern PIN stopped working. I have tried rebooting pressing down and power, then selecting "recovery" but I then get a page saying "no command".
Can anybody else shed light on this issue? Am I just missing something, or is my recovery partition completely borked.?
I just got the device today and have not done anything to it other than trying to set it up before the pattern stopped working.
Is there a different button combo I should use? I tried power+up but it gives the same no command error.
Power and volume down is the forced reset. Not sure if that helps if the PIN got messed, but for future reference that's it.

Oh goody... Bad advice...
Volume and power down reboots to bootloader... From there... Use volume buttons to choose recovery... Then press power
Beware of factory reset thru recovery though... I've had phones that didn't reformat internal storage after the wipe leaving me with unusable storage... Not this device...
Also... Make sure you have your Google login credentials... You'll probably set off FRP and need the sign-in from the account on the phone to reconnect with Google...

When you reach the no command screen you want to hold volume up and at the same time press the power button (don't hold power), that should get you into recovery. It took me a while to figure this out myself.
Thank you!
This didn't work for me on Android pie at all.
