Restoring Nandroid Help - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
So recently, I have been noticing more and more that I'm having wifi problems with my N10. A lot of dropping wifi when it shouldnt be etc. So i'm running the Cm 10.1 nightlies but wanted to return to my stock backup. So i did the normal steps going back through rom manager etc and it doesn't finish. It says that the MD5 sums mismatch.
Quote:
/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery/log Please open rom manager to report the issue
Checking MD5 sums...
MD5 mismatch!
I would like to reset this to factory and try to relock it incase I need to send it in for a replacement. But I'm suck getting back to my stock.
Any help would be appreciated!

[Q] Help: Nandroid Backup Issue... Freezes on "Generating MD5 Sum..."

I've searched the forum and Google for over an hour, and I cannot find any information on this issue. I am trying to install attn1's R012 ROM. I previously installed the R008 build a couple of months ago, and I have had no issues. I want to upgrade to the latest build, but I am running into a problem when doing a Nandroid backup. As the title to the post suggests, on the last step of the backup, it seems to freeze at "Generating md5 sum...". I have let it sit for over an hour now, and it is still frozen.
I cannot find any information on the root cause of this problem or the resolution. Could anyone shed some light on this for me? And help is greatly appreciated!
What speed SD card do you have? That would be the only real variable as to why your phone is having issues - there could be a timing issue if you are using a real slow card.
have you done a nandroid backup before with no issues? is this a new problem or has it existed previously?
Thank you both for your replies. The SD card is a Transcend 8GB Class 6, and yes, I have done a Nandroid backup before, prior to installing attn1's R008 ROM. I had no issues with that backup.
Also, to at least use my phone for now, I did a battery pull. I tried running the backup again, with the same result.
if your old backup was created normally, i would recommend reflashing that backup and trying installing the new rom again.
reinstalling your apps may be a pain, but it seems like your best chance at restoring the functionality of your phone. or simply wipe everything and install a new rom.
thats happened to me before, right after i flashed a new kernel! It sucked! i had to wipe

Weird Problems with tab 2 7.0....need advice!!!!

Guys, i think i have screwed my galaxy tab, so please bear with me while i explain what has happened. I live in India and i recieved my tab 2 7.0 a few weeks ago. Came with 4.04. Needless to say i rooted and installed cwm immediately. (i did the whole thing from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788625) After installing cwm, my gsm sim and wifi started freaking out. One wouldn't work with the other. Until i installed "fxr wifi fix" which seemed to fix the problem. A few weeks into it, my tab started going completely crazy. At night, it would go on and off for no apparent reason. Today, when i came back at 2pm, its display was on, showing the time as 8:10am and it was completely frozen. This was the second time that had happened. I decided that i had had enough. I tried to restore it to a previous backup. It completed the MD5 check after which it restored the boot image and system. It failed on restore of data with the error "Error while restoring data!". Tried again. Failed again. I restored the cache which was the only thing left and rebooted. After a few minutes at the samsung logo, it treated the device like it was completely new. Thankfully, i have superuser and cwm still. Is my device stable now? Does it have an internal problem? Why did it fail on the restore like that? Please answer asap. I'd appreciate some advice and knowledge here!
Regards,
Xyan
*If it helps, i also modified the build.prop once to get modern combat 3 to work. But i always had a backup of it and i restored it as soon as i was done.
*There is a problem at boot where it plays the animation first and the sound later. After wiping the data, setup wizard failed at boot. ANd the sim pin code came in bold numbers. It never used to do that.

Try installing some other ROM like CM9 and then check if the problem still persists. Hope it helps!!
Which one would u recommend? Are u sure there are no problems with the internals of the tab whatsoever?

Install CM9, its the clean one with no bugs(as shown in webpage!!). And if you change ROM that doesn't tamper with Tab internals.
If your problem still persists, you can always go back to stock ROM(follow guides in Dev section) and throw your tab in Samsung Service. Those people dont check much in India(I live in india too !!)

Before going through with the flashing (as suggested jyotisankar9, i will go with cm9 too), i decided to backup the rom as it is and restore it. Turns out, it failed again on data.
If a dev could take a closer look at the log, please tell me what the hell is happening coz i cant make any head or tail of it:
Restoring data...
I:Formatting unknown device.
rm: can't remove '.' or '..'
rm: can't remove '.' or '..'
cache_rgts.m.nomediaBriefing_m05_spanish.srttar: seek failure: Value too large for defined data type
Error while restoring /data!
There is some stuff before this, if u need that, please ask me.

Just to let you know i rooted my new Tab 2 which i bought yesterday, i was having issues with WiFi the same way you had. But i went to recovery and formatted Cache. And now its working fine. Try this out and let me know.
Thanks so much for your help jyotisankar9!!!!! I managed to fix the problem that i had with cwm. The 'tar' applet of busybox can handle only a 2gb tar file or less. My data.tar of the backup amounted to 3.4gb!!! So, i updated my busybox (download it from the play store) and upgraded cwm to 6.0.1.0. After that, i was able to restore back to an earlier backup. All is well!!!!! You should do this too coz the basic cwm backup (without any apps) amounts to about 2.6 gb as it is. So that wont restore either.
Happy for you bro
When I was using cwm5 I had that problem too, of data not restoring. Upgrading to cwm6 fixed it for me

[Q] soft bricked - best start over method

Not sure how this one happened but stuck in a reboot cycle. I get the samsung galaxy logo, black screen and then it just hangs. I have 1 nandroid since I just started playing, and I can get into recovery, but when I try to restore I am getting an MD5 issue so won't restore.
This was a pretty much a stock galaxy 4, rooted with the hotspot mod flashed, so I won't be losing that much. I do see an option in recovery to wipe data / factory reset, but not sure if that will even work.
I don't have my windows machine with me, but my other thought from my old evo day's would be to mount the SD and flash from the SD, but have 3 hours to sit around and the wipe/factory reset could be done and re-setup by then.
Thanks for all read/replies.
try the factory reset and if that doesn't work, you can disable the md5 check in twrp and force the nandroid restore. If that doesn't work you are no worse off. If none of that works you will probably have to wait until you can use Odin to flash the MDL stock rom and start over.

[Q] Clean flashed liquidsmooth still experiencing issues

Hey guys! I was on Liquidsmooth v3.1 when I decided to update to v3.2 on the 07-27 nightly. I did a clean flash, wiped everything etc but when it first boots up I get hit with this error: "unfortunately themes provider has stopped" when I close out of it it just pops up again in a second. So I'm just stuck on the setup page with that error popping up over and over again. I clean flashed but I still don't know what I did wrong. Can anyone help? THanks!
can anyone help?
Best place for this is LS thread were you will get more exposure. I read your posts there.
You can do the basics over, then try another rom as maybe something in the newer nightlies aren't playing well with your particular phone. Could be something on your internal card.
My basics would be:
ReDownload rom and gapps checking the md5's before flashing--
Wipe all 3x times. That would be System/Data/Both Caches, thru recovery--I use TWRP 2.5.0.2--never an issue. There is a flashable zip for it. Just wipes, no formats, factory resets etc.
If all else fails try reformatting your internal--back up first
Or try another rom for awhile--
Good Luck

I think my partitions are all messed up. Please Help

Hey everyone. I recently gave my Rogers note 3 to my wife. two days later she said it was acting up, and it kept saying com.android.systemui has stopped. when I booted into CWM I couldnt do a factory reset, and it was also saying it could open a bunch of directories. I was able to use CWM to restore to an earlier restore, but even then I couldnt do a factory reset, and CWM is still saying it cant open the directories.
After talking with another modder, he has suggested that my partitions are messed up. So, if this is the case, what is my best bet? should I use odin to reflash CWM, and then flash the stock rogers rom? She's not a power user and doesnt care for root. she just wants a working phone that has a stylus pen.
I have downloaded the latest CWM .tar, but can someone please help me find the stock rogers rom? rooted or not, i dont care. I just need help as Im helping her recover from major surgery and working 18 hour days right now so im burnt out.
Thanks in advance.
[SOLVED]
I was able to format the cache from CWM finally. Errors are all gone.
