2.3.x or 4.2.x? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hey guys
i've got a simple question to that who are litte experts in the HD2
First i tested WP7, that was smooth but the market games and apps are so poor.
I'd like Android, so i switched to. Help me please xda, witch android base did u prefer for daily use? I need a stable, fast (even in apps), still supported and continued devoloped rom with a low power consum, mutch free ram as possible (without zram) and DataOnEXT cause the nand is just to small. I also always listen to music, so the HD2 should be loudest as possible from base (scripts are okay but first the true soundchip performance needs to be good)
Should i take a 2.3.x based Rom (i thought there are better and more devoloped) or a 4.2.x (using Pixeldroid atm) ?
Hope u can help

Steps to decide which one works best for you:
1- Download a 2.3 rom and a 4.x rom.
2- Flash one of them, install apps and use normally for two or three days (notice performance)
3- Use any backup app to back up your stuff.
4- Install the downloaded 2.3 rom.
5- Reinstall the app you used to back up, and restore your stuff.
6- Use this rom for about two days and notice performance.
7- Compare the performance of the two roms.
8- ?????
9- Profit!!

Yeah picked HyperDroid now, its amazing.
Thx for the feedback

Performance-increasing apps/first steps

Hello.
Yap, I'll get a HD2 soon. But I'm new and very interested in this matter, so:
can you tell me what to do first? Which Apps or Roms are must haves?
the performace is the most important point for me. I've heard from for example the FPUenabler, an OC tool, etc. But where can I find it and which should I use?
Thanks for helping me.
Greets.
....*bump*
Hey there... Welcome!
Its a bit difficult to say which apps are upsolute musts, simply because everybody has different tastes and needs. Appart from a couple of utilities that i allways install on my phone (hd2tweak,bsb...) the other apps serve my needs and might not be important for somebody else. As for roms, there are a lot of great roms out there, but as you are new to all this I would recommend to stay with the stock rom for a few days, play with it and then move on to deep waters. I am sure you will install many nonsense in the beginning that will eventually lead you to a hard reset (or you will do one by mistake like most of us did in the beginning... for instance the "clear storage" option=hard reset) In a months time, I am sure you will be able to decide what is a must for you and then you can experiment with a few roms as well...
Take care and good luck
Chainfire's 3D Driver patch will greatly increase performances in 3D :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592663
these are my exprience for you . .
0. install all patch from official update.
1. install Netcf 3.5 <------Actually , It will slow down your HD2 a little.
2. install BsB 1.6 <------ Very useful tweak .
3. install 3D driver
4. install and excute FPU Enabler (If you want more more speed .. )
5. Search and install app. about CPU speed controller like sppedbooster
(not confirm!!), Cause HTC maybe set a constrain on CPU speed.
6.flash your HD2's ROM....

[Q] Android ROM Htc Touch HD

Hi
Is there a ROM Upgrade (ANDROID 2.1 or 2.2) for HTC TOUCH HD?
I know there are some files like haret.exe but i like to do it with this
program: rom update utility
( you can search it on google images)
I have upgrade my HTC TOUCH HD to htc touch hd with sense
and now i like to do that but than with android!
Is that possible????
Thanks a lot
and so sorry for my english !!
no, currently there is no complete stand alone nand android rom for the blackstone since it is not yet stable and many features are not working (like bluetooth or 3.5mm). but afaik it is being worked on so there might actually one day be a full android rom for the nand instead of the sd card.

Hey,
I'm sry about my question (and my english, just got "school-english-skills" from Germany, a few years ago ), tried to do the search but found nothing I'm able to understand...
A good friend of mine has a HTC HD Touch (Blackstone?) and wants to flash a "stable" Android Version on it. I'm able to flash the HTC Magic, Wildfire, Desire & co. but I'm not able to understand what I've got to to, wich files I need and what I should do with that.
Could anyone help me ? Linked files that I need and a short instruction would be very very great !
(Please do me a favour and don't say something like "use search" and so on, I need to understand what I have to do with wich files )
Many thanks in advance
There is no flashable android rom for Blackstone yet
exactly. as of now, there is no android rom for the internal flash (nand) to replace the current windows mobile os. but there are still ways to get android working alongside winmo, by simply putting it on the sd card.
basically, what you need is a rom, haret and ts-calibration+startup.txt.
for the rom itself, there are dozens of different roms around this very forum section. look for the most recent ones and compare them by the features needed. some of them hardly have any support for the blackstone hardware, when it comes to camera, sound, BT, 3.5mm jack, calling... and are purely for fun and apps, some others are more suitable for everyday use. make sure to read a few posts of user feedback to get what you want.
most roms come with their own haret package (the winmo program to boot android), which, like the rom itself, needs to be extracted to the sd card root.
ts-calibration is the file needed to store the touch screen calibration, so you don't have to align it yourself, which can be tricky in android.
startup.txt stores the boot commands, which can be altered to your needs, have a look at a few of them and pick the best one (which seems difficult at first, but you can search any command in there to find out what it means). some come with overclocking or different values which can speed up or slow down the device, it set wrong.
and, to sum it all up, here is a tutorial thread describing the whole installation (well, copy) process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959831
it is not completely up to date, but you can use the same tutorial, the same haret, ts-calibration and startup for other, newer roms, like blazn 2.2.2 or whatever you want.

[Q] TEST ANDROID over other Windows Mobile ROM

I want to know if it is worth a try? What do you think? I sounds like a good idea

I dont know what Roms you have available for your device but it may be worth adding a section with what Roms (stock or custom) work with Android and what ones arent working correctly. While Android is emulated, there are still some WinMo drivers that affect the operation of your Android port and certain Roms may not work.
It may be worth trying to flash a different Rom and then try Android again.

I currently use:
ROM-Version (Vodafone)Switzerland German: 1.41.166.1, (10904) Radio:0.63.05.41
the next one I will try is:
[ROM][25.06.2011][WWE-ITA-FRA-ELL-GER-RUS-SPA-NLD-DAN] ver 3.10 nsourm -build 29022
ver.5 - RUU_Signed_????no_sense_clean.nbh is without sense and cookies home tab and without extra apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801481
The nsourm rom is highly recommended and very stable (version 3.1) I also run this base WM6.5 ROM too (without sense and without cookies home tab). It seems to be quite compatible with the Android port as it mostly follows stock rom philosophy.
The other optional cab that has been installed is the stock icons.cab located here as without it, my SPB shell doesn't show all the icons properly. I have no problems with the Android Loader 1.0 dual boot application (set to autoboot after 10 seconds). I'd first flash the stock ROM then this one if wanting to change from another custom ROM.
you tried over nsourm 3.1 and Android works well, but have you tried over your stock ROM? and have you noticed any difference? such as. that something works better, or that something is not working at all?
I have not tried Android with my stock ROM and don't want to go back to stock ROM either as I still need to use WM6.5 from time to time - because there is no Garmin for Android! Stock ROM used to crash often whereas with nsourm 3.1 it is definitely much more stable given it incorporates more recent builds. I would assume that given nsourm is close to stock ROM philosophy (but with much more recent builds) that there would not be much difference to anything that ran in Android. Maybe someone has already tested for the differences.. and can let us know the results!
Hi, 15Ma1l,
I tried four different of HTC Official ROMs for my htc mini, and I can say: There isn't any Difference and all of them were same when booting android. and I knew this idea for months.
but I didn't tried nsourm ROM, because of arabic persian unicode support?
thank you for answers !
iPlasm could you please write a list with these ROMs you already tried?

[Q] Any stable Android version for HD2?

Hi All,
I had upgraded HD2 from WM to Android 2.2, however it's unstable lately (rebooted occasionally).
I'd like to know:
1) how and which version I can upgrade to?
2) Is 2.3 more stable than 4.0 now?
Thx a lot.
Boku
Don't mess around and flash this one because HPD6 is the best one at the moment:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026
for now just use 2.3 than 4.0.. 4.o is still new for our hd2 and it still under development.

Any suggestion in terms of its Chinese input method?
Many thx.
I'm actually using this ROM: NexusHD2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
it's a really good rom, stable, no bugs (they ares patched frequently, keep the thread).
And for a better fluidity, install Adreno GPU driver (Armv7)

Well we will use this as discussion thread ,soon I will make an update ,where we will have more space and timescape removed .
Thanks Vasishta,
Here are some of my suggestions, if you can able to incorporate in to new update. I am eagerly waiting for an update.
- xLoud integration. This ROM has very low call / speaker volume. xLoud really helps just like in X10S. Please include this mod.
- Bravia - optional.
- More system space - no need of email2, exchange2, facebook integration, stock browser, notes, redundant versions of notes/clocks/voice... etc.
- Newer version of xperia home.
- signed lite gapps - for google now. (or) updated gapps to include google now.
Also, there is one NAND backup file available in XDA based on X10Z ROM. It says, it includes xloud, bravia and also supports full hd games.
I am yet to download and try this.

Hi!
Hello! Thank you! I use actively the ROM, works fine. I've tried a lot, and so far it runs the most stable. Seeking extending the battery life yet, because could be longer. Has no more than 14 hours to 1 hour internet usage, but it may be that the average number of half-read it. Sorry for the bad language use, is not my native language.

- Try Nova launcher instead of Xperia Home.
- Remove all unnecessary system applications like facebook integration, email, exchange, notes... etc to make atleast 50MB space in system memory.
- Keep atleast 90MB free in internal memory. move all other apps to SD card.
- Try Game Booster applciation to toggle to gaming mode.

Great work from vashista..
Hi !
Thanks for your ROM, I have used it for a couple of week now and it is the best one I tried, but there are some things that are a little bit annoying:
The equalizer in walkman doesn't work.
Your Rom is smooth and fast but not as zahid5h's ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212260 Could you be able to make it faster?
The Camcorder that you know, but will you port the camera from the Xperia Z?
I will try now your new beta rom.
Thank you for your work and I hope you will continue in that way :fingers-crossed:
Somebody can help me to install the ROM please ???
thx
i've tried to install custom ROM yesterday,and i have error ( status 7 )
maybe i have use tutor how to remove in file folder META-INF - com - google - android - update script
Thanks mate if you could me to learn me.
sorry i am noob and for my bad english
You have to flash the rom in the recovery, you also flash the gapps.
Then you reboot your phone and let it setup.
When you have set your phone, you flash the addon.

Thanks for the new release but when I launch Walkman. It tells me that "L'application "Appareils" s'est arrêté", in English it can be something like "The application "Devices" stopped". And it is not like yours on your screenshots.
The app Note does not work either.
What kind of video file can we read (mp4, avi, ...)?
I don't manage to make small apps work.
It's the things I know they don't work until now, maybe I'll find some others.
Thanks for all the other things that work.
Thanks for your great work, the rom is smooth, fast and stable.

This is because the system partition is small and not all the ADDON package files are being flashed
the data partition is 465mb and the system partition is 352mb, logically they should be the other way around.
hopefully someone will post a solution
