I'm not sure I understand entirely what you're asking, but from what I've read you would need a bootloader that was not locked and had been signed with a key that your current bootloader will accept. Do you have one?
I think he means the following:
IF our bootloader wasn't locked and he would flash a custom ROM but wanted to return to the stock one, if he can flash his stock bootloader back to prevent bricks in the future.
I try software from 10X forums :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17494360
and its wrote there is nothing to restore.
what i can do ?
Is this what you were looking for?
[Tutorial] Relock bootloader!
i try it and now its doesn't boot up!!!
what i can do ?
I had that problem when I was using a custom kernel. Had to flash back to a stock kernel before I could re-lock the bootloader

As the title says, I am wondering if I can install the current Cyanogenmod (file: cm-10.1.3-xt907.zip) with Safestrape/TWRP. My system version is 98.15.66.XT907.Verizon.en.US, baseband: SM_BP_101031.027.32.81P. I am aware that I have the OTA update that locked my bootloader, nulling the use of motopocalypse.
I did try flashing a Cyanogenmod build to Slot 2 of my recovery which ended up softbricking my phone. I might have messed up something during the flashing, or perhaps didn't change a certain setting.
The Safestrape version I have and used is 3.11, the latest build for my device is 3.12. Would 3.12 be any better when flashing Cyanogenmod?
Any help would be appreciated.
.66 was the OTA prior to the one that locked the bootloader. .78 locked the BL. Try to see if you can unlock.
System version 98.30.1 XT907 Does anyone know if my version is unlock able or not?

Damn, ok. Thank you
Thanks, but the question remains. Is it possible to install CyanogenMod or other Roms with Safestrape/TWRP? I tried flashing it once again, but after I select reboot phone, it remains black. I have to do a hard reset on my phone to get it to recovery to restore the stock.

TWRP is for those of us with an unlocked boot loader... You can use safestrap sure... Not to many roms for it most all is stock/stock based... There is a old cm ROM you can flash in safe strap but it's an older one and I think the camera was broken... There is topics all over here about what you can do with a locked boot loader... Have you tried to unlock it yet...

You must install a custom recovery first.
CM Installer does everything.
I couldn't have bothered with unlocking the bootloader, installing custom recovery and rooting so i went for CM Installer which did all of that in less than a minute
Hi guys I'm a noob with the nexus 7.
Is it as simple as these steps?
Fastboot oem unlock (unlock bootloader)
Then flash a custom recovery like TWRP.
Finally flash a custom rom?
Thanks
