Cyanogenmod tutorial

Alot of people are asking how to flash cyanogenmod and/or complaining about not havig google apps. So here we go.
If you want ext4, get cwm3, it is alot simpler that way.
1)download the rom, kernal for the file system you have and gapps and put them on the root of your sd card
2)boot into cwm
3)wipe data/factory reset 3 times, wipe cache 3 times and finaly go to advanced and wipe dalvik 3 times
4) go to install zip from sd and choose the rom, not the kernal or gapps
5)choose install another zip and choose the kernal (your screen may flash)
6)choose install another zip and choose gapps
7 )reboot (may take a while on first boot. Five minutes max.)

EDIT Well, without bumping the thread: amazing I got jumped on for this. There's a difference between "being a ****" and commenting on obvious facts.
OP clearly wanted to make a tutorial for installing Cyanogenmod... but doesn't care enough to use the shift key, format the text, or explain the steps. Most of the confusion comes from not knowing how to execute these broad individual steps, so why not clarify them?
I was only less than nice when posting because I felt like the first is not much different than the other threads. It is not the result of hard work, but looks more like a slapped-down response by someone tired of explaining the same thing over and over.
I could have been clearer, but don't regret what I said. If this minimal effort justified a whole thread (especially if it's to be stickied) there would be 1000 halfassed tutorials covering the first few pages by now. I appreciate the intent of OP, but the result shows he doesn't really care.
It's weird, because I'm not one of the "should have searched instead of making a new topic" hater... but seeing a new thread that aims to deliver without taking the time to do it right did bother me.

Is there any way to get 4G working yet? I checked the search box and came across a few people that said ti was in the process...

Sorry but our 4g is a bit different than the Evo, and is going to take some time to work out. Some of the best where working on the Evo to make it work and it took almost 5 months to get it semi solid and with 2.2 we can only hope for the best with 4g with Cyanogen.

Unfortunately there's no 4G yet. Someone can correct me but I believe the devs need the froyo source first.

I can understand flaming/negativeness towards OP's with less than common sense post, but "i'm more forum OG than you/more technically inclined" attitude some of these not so new members are replying with is deconstructive/emotionally immature.

How to do leaked blah blah froyo?

Yeah um how do I do it? I have used odin before and w.e. ..I should make some kind of backup..how would i go about doing that? I used titanium but I was informed I should use nandroid.. help?

I laughed at the original post, but I didn't look at the disclaimer till this post, then I laughed again.

Boot into clockwork mod recovery, pres volume down to select backup and just....back it up boo! Lol nah and then rpower down and boot into download mode and plug it into your computer with odin open already and then put the dk28.tar in the pda section and press start and it'll do it itself.
Now can I have my hand back I think we made it across the street

Oh and the reason why I even noticed the thread I linked is because I was trying to find a way to get froyo to work on your phone without reboots, then I looked to see if you made any other pointless threads, sure enough you made this one. Make up your mind about what you want to do with your phone, ask me if I know how to do it, and stop wasting everyone's time.

Of course... Ive been using it for a week without issue.
It even turns your single core processor in to a dual core processor.
Im getting Quadrant scores in the 4200 range.

So after 8 posts a simple yes or no at post 2 would helped him more than 6 posts of telling him to search. Seriously guys.............

So you'd rather people didn't bother with the minimal effort of working things out for themselves? I understand your point that it's wasted a small amount of time/bandwidth, but encouraging people to do their own basic research helps everyone in the long run.

A link to what? There is no Honeycomb rom to link him to..
And try flashing the Modaco kernel, it'll install CWM with it and convert to ext4.

Its simple from root explorer find the folder needed then browse for framework.apk for example if that is needed long press it then copy and paste it to your sd card then plug usb and you can upload it from there....

If you are trying to use USB Mass Storage to find /system/ its never going to happen. You need Root Explorer on your phone. From there copy the framework.apk from /system/ to your SD Card, then mount and upload your file. Also, there are better ways of asking for help.

Modding isn't meant to be for people without any knowledge.
If you can't find the required files - you shouldn't be messing with your phone in the first place, and not blaming a GREAT site.
Opening such a thread is.. how should I politely say it.. stupid.

You'd probably not like that experience. The only time I had to fight someone in my life, several years ago, he was in a hospital for a week, recovering from a broken nose after several seconds of fight. You probably think that anyone that doesn't use swear words every 2 seconds and knows his way around /system partition and framework resources, is a thin geek with glasses, scared of his own shadow. Newsflash - some of them weigh in over 100kg, and enough muscle to break your neck without much effort.
Still, I hope admins delete this thread and your user with it. Those like you deserve to get their balls cut off to avoid procreating of idiocy, but since you can't get that on the forum, at least a ban will do.

I don't dispute that his comment was a little harsh - but your reaction to it was equally harsh - no need for that here - I have seen other development threads become reduced to a bunch of childish bickering over the silliest things - and I personally believe that is really out of place in a forum designed for people to help each other - so please consider how you want to be treated and maintain a level of respect that each of us, including you deserve.
I know that I would appreciate that - as I am sure many others will as well.
