I am just going to say it... the htc aria's call quality is horrible. Maybe I feel that way because before the aria i had a nokia phone. However if you go to settings- -call- -hearing aid. If you check th hearing aid option the call qualit is much better and you can hear people even in noisy rooms.
FYI: I recently got a check up and I have perfect hearing.
So my question is does this hearing aid use up battery life? And how do you guys think the call quality is?

I do notice that if I lower the volume a little bit I can hear an echo of myself in the mic.. Also, the volume of the music player can be better too..

I have seen the hearing aid setting, but I cannot find it in options on cm6..

Infinitely better from the terrible LG Vu I had prior to my Aria and definitely better than iPhone. I have no complaints.
the in call quality is a lot better than the other phones i've had. the volume may not be as loud, but the quality of the audio is great. i haven't had any echo/weirdness at all. i had tons of that with some of my other phones.
from what i've asked people i call, the quality on their end has improved since getting the aria as well.

In general, I have always been really happy with call quality on every HTC device I've used. I think it is probably one of their phone's best characteristics.

I had really bad echoe problems with my 3GS, I think it may be an AT&T thing. The Aria is a much better telephone imo than the 3GS in every area except speaker volume. The speaker on the Aria just isn't loud enough, but I have better signal and way fewer dropped calls than with the 3GS.
Tinny sound + Earpiece louder than Speakerphone
When talking on the Aria I get a tinny sound in the ear speaker on the phone...also people claim I am breaking up yet I hear them loud and clear.
Anyone else getting this?
Ear piece louder than Speaker phone...
Anyone else notice that the ear speaker is louder than the speaker phone?
No to all three off your questions

Sounds a little like a troll thread. I've had nothing but clear calls. It may not hold full bars like some of my other devices, but it sounds better than my old nokias that did and gets better battery life to boot. If you're not happy take it back.

Everyone say they have poor call quality.. But none of you give any details as to which Rom on Aria you are using..
Quality & Volume are awesome with one latest Rom's..
The only time I have noticed poor call quality is when I was using the stock rom. It was more noticeable when on a Bluetooth headset when I had the phone below the waist. I would head crackling on my Bluetooth when it was to thexpoint that if I moved the phone to chest level it would go away.
Since upgrading to cm 006 then to cm 008 I haven't had a problem. In fact I can now leave the phone in the other room while I'm on my Bluetooth without any problems.
Hope this helps.

I recently read a review of the Galaxy Note by Ray S. on www.PhoneArena.com and he rates the phone a 7 out of ten and says it has poor call quality bad ear speaker and poor mic wich was very upsetting to me as I was looking to purchase one would like to know any thoughts on this from people who actually own and use this phone
I have the same question, is the in ear call volume loud enough or is it muted like on SGS 2? Did Samsung bother to put somewhat better internal speakers into this flagship phone? Can anybody honestly compare the call sound quality? I am NOT interested in music player volume quality. Thank you guys...

I find the call quality far better than any other phone I've had including SG2, Captivate and Motorola Atrix. I had to turn the volume down. It was too loud. Whoever I'm listening to comes through crisp and clear. They have no difficulty hearing me either.

So far i would have to say the call quality is great and far better than the HTC sensation i was using. Also the actual volume available is very good with no background noise. As i think someone else mentioned i found i had to turn it down as it was a little to loud on the standard setting.
Same as S2 here, no problem at all.
I use too the mic record function for notes and it is great.
call quality and volume as good as 3GS and HD7. clarity is much better than streak even if the streak is louder. hbm-900 works fine while plantronics 975 voice is rubbish/bad and the answer button on the headset wont works.
A big thanks to all for confirming about the call quality. You all have made the deal for me !

I think that problem of call quality could be due to the place the Note was built. In another thread a girl from Hong Kong said that it wasn't loud enough, quite noisy on both sides. Her Note was imported from Poland.
Could some other owners confirm or deny this?

Someone on a another thread reported difficulty hearing people on the other end of a call using earphones/headsets. Has anyone else experienced this?

It's probably the same Euro version that the majority of us have got. And therefore the same version that the majority of us are confirming that the call quality is excellent. It must be a one off issue with that particular user unfortunately.

To clarify, this Hong Kong user reported poor call quality using a headset specifically. Are you saying you don't have a problem with calls using a headset? If so, that would be very reassuring.

Yep, Voice quality of Z1 is fantastic:victory: Probably the best among the smart phones I purchased over the years.
Absolutely second that. I got it the day before yesterday and the voice qulaity is a pleasant surprise. Love the phone.. It is growing on me.. It can only get better..
I am extremely pleased to hear this, but why in the world does every review I read say otherwise about the call quality? Phone Arena did a test against the G2 and said the G2 performed way better in call quality and that they were disappointed in the Z1 for "premium smartphone."
As each day goes by, I realize more and more that I can't trust internet reviews. Sad really Thank you guys for reporting on the call quality! Can't wait to get mine tomorrow.

If the G2 beats the Z1 then it must be out of this world. The Z1 is loud, punchy and very clear.
As said above, you will almost certainly panic that speakerphone is enabled by mistake the first time.

This just blows my mind. They referred to it as too "boomy." Maybe it's just too loud for their tastes.
I had the G2 for two weeks and it was, well, no better than any other phone I had lol.

Here's the excerpt:
It didn't take us long to conclude that the LG G2 performs better during phone calls. Its earpiece sounds loud and clear even when its volume isn't set to the maximum. It can go even louder if needed, but that takes a toll on sound quality. The earpiece on the Xperia Z1, on the other hand, sounds too boomy regardless of its volume setting. It is okay, but we were expecting more out of a premium smartphone. Thankfully, better results can be achieved by tweaking the in-call sound equalizer. Its microphone performs well, delivering loud voice tones on the other side of the line.
I find my earpiece speaker brilliant, but my loudspeaker is quieter than the earpiece speaker :s... yes it's full volume

Speaker volume is not the best on the z1 and its mainly because of the waterproofing.
I'm absolutely in love with my Z1, but it is true that call quality could be better... If you really split hairs.
I sold my iPhone 5 3 weeks ago in order to get the Z1.
From iPhone 5 to iPhone 5 on a network that supports Hd voice, the call quality did sound like a crystal clear Skype connection or like a CD...
I'm still on the same network supporting Hd voice and I still call iPhone 5s, but the person although loud and clear now sounds ever so slightly more as if they are on a phone...
Although the feedback I'm getting from the other side is that there is no difference in how I sound compared with my previous iPhone 5.

This is interesting. I have a 5s and now the Z1 as of today. I can't (or haven't actually been able to) tell when I'm on HD Voice or not! My wife has an S4 and we're both on T-mobile. Calling her should be on HD Voice right?
-Collin-
I can't say the Z1 is the best phone around for voice quality, but it's the best phone I've personally used - and that includes previous Xperia phones.
If you can get better, great, but I think it's extremely clear, loud, punchy and would not cause any problems if I was out in a very loud environment.

Hey Collin
Yeah... I'm not sure how you would be certain that it works. Maybe call your carrier?
See I immediately noticed the HD voice when I upgraded from my iPhone 4 to 5.
It was crystal clear and you could hear a pin drop during the silent periods.
Then when I got the Z1 that absolute clarity was somewhat lost, but like I said the quality is still very good and it honestly doesn't bother me.
There are too many other reasons why I love this phone.
Besides the HD voice although nice, wouldn't be a deciding factor in why I'm getting a particular phone.

I am not too impressed with the earpiece quality on the Note 4 I have here. I suspect it may be marginally faulty.
When the volume is reasonable loud (such as one or two clicks down from the top), if the person talking has quite a resonant voice, the sound is a bit rattly. I can still make out everything perfectly clearly, but it bugs me a bit.
I was curious how others found the earpiece quality on theirs?

agree. not the best i have seen. S5 sounds much better and fuller.
Same issue here. Iphome sounds much better. I swapped the sim cars and called the same person to check the sound.
One thing I have noticed is that if I play a song or a voice clip through the earpiece, it's crystal clear. It's only the phone call that's making the issue.

The problem with call quality as is that it might be the earpiece, the voice decoder, baseband/antenna, the network, or any (or all) of the above for the person on the other network. If the other person's phone is having an issue encoding the call, yes, it could affect your phone when it decodes.
If you're going to make test calls, call a landline.
Also, go through the call settings in the phone app on your Note 4. The noise cancelling options WILL affect the voice quality, as will the post processing (There's a personalize call sound option with several options)

When you call granny, does she keep saying "Huh?! Wut?!" or does the conversation flow pretty well? Rate this thread to express how you feel about the OnePlus 7 Pro's call quality. A higher rating indicates that calls are clear and crisp, and that regardless of background noise, you can hear the other party clearly (and with ample volume) and they can hear you.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The call quality on the oneplus 7 pro has been very good and actually does better at holding a signal in weak areas than my HTC U11 did.
The call quality is grate but there is more crackling in called when calling someone on att from the TMobile usage oneplus 7 pro. Could be that the att phone has a week signal. Just wish battery was better other then that the phone on TMobile is wonderful
Call ne
I also notice some cracking in the sound while having a regular call. That cracking was not there with my OnePlus 2, same carrier and SIM card.
Call quality is fantastic.
When switching from Bluetooth to phone, a weird little delay that I didn't have on the 5t.
I'm a bit confused by the call quality. I'm calling OnePlus users, Pocophone users, Huawei and Xiaomi Mi 9 users.
When calling them while they drive and have it connected to the car, everything is okay. They are all loud and clear.
When calling "normal", I can easily hear the Pocophone user as well as the Huawei user. If there's a call by a Oneplus 6, it's almost too quiet. Xiaomi Mi 9 is almost silent, it's a pain to understand the caller even with maximum volume.
The Xiaomi users are reporting a bit of crackling sound from time to time when I'm speaking, for the rest it's a very great quality.
When I have low signal (around -105db), I still find that the phone connects and the conversation isn't dropped, chopped, or grainy. Bluetooth calling doesn't have much of a delay either from car or headset, so overall pretty pleased.
The earpiece volume seems very low on mine even though turned up fully
I can hear people very well, and people on the other end can hear me extremely well. Girlfriend says she has to turn down the volume a couple notches specifically when I call her with this phone because my voice comes through so loud and clear.
sometimes when I'm trying to do a phone call , they can hear my voice but I can't hear them, it also happens that the tune sound simply doesn't sound, it seems like the phone is mute... so I have to hang down the call and repeat, and then it works sometimes I had to restart the OnePlus 7 pro... it seems like being a software issue and I hope somebody can fix this soon because it is very annoying
I absolutely love the call quality so far! Just have no data or text with straight talk

I can hear people crystal clear and i've been told that they can hear me pretty well but sometimes muffled when outside. I have xperience issues with the call volume when using bluetooth headphones, max volume doesn't seem to be very high but i will take clear call quality over i higher volume.
