Hi Guys,
I'm used to deal with Samsung devices but a friend owns a Defy not working properly so he asked me to try to fix it.
Here are the information about the device:
Device: MB525
Android version: 2.2.1
Version number: 3.4.2-107_JDNL-9
When I get into recovery mode it always shows these messages:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/caller
I tried to root using SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse but it didn't recognize the device.
Can I try this procedure to fix this device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1807899&highlight=cant+open
Regards
Gustavo
I managed to fix this using this Cyanogen guide (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_jordan) but after installing the bootmenu and getting into recovery, I had to reboot again in order to get into bootmenu.

Hi.
I want to install CyanogenMod's ROM insted of HTC standard ROM.
But when i go to recovery (im following this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream/Magic32A_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod)
There stand in the bottom:
Code:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Can that inflict my installation in anyway?
Wanted to install the Defy+ ROM for my Defy(SOC, Green) and just rooted it with superoneclick. I installed the bootmenu and everything seem to work fine but when I select "Custom Recovery" I receive the following error
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.8
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mtdblock8 (file exists)
E:Can't mount CACHE: recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mtdlock8 (file exists)
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't open CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mtdblocks (file exists).
Is the device bricked? How do I fix this? When I try normal boot, phone gets boot and everything else works fine*
Install latest boot menu and clockwork mod, find the thread from development section.
It is very hard to brick defy, don't worry with these errors.
Which version of 2ndInit installed? 2.0 or 1.9? If you had then it would have stable 1.0.7 recovery which installs 5.0.3+ recovery. Enjoy flashing.

oh, think i had the same. but that appeard only if i selected "Custom Recovery".
Instead, i tried first the Android Bootmenu (Motorola Stock recovery) and then select "Recovery" and there i had also the option "stable recovery".
Under Stable Recovery everything worked fine.
hope it'll help u.

Hello there! i'm kinda worried...
my Defy is stuck in boot loop and i cannot enter custom recovery, only stock!
this happened after restoring a backup of a working 20130511 cm10.1 by quarks (i tried 20130516 but I kept having random reboots)
i don't know how to fix it... i cannot enter custom recovery so i cant flashanything... i can enter just stock recovery but it shows this:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/caller
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log

i flashed the original SBF and went trought the "rooting and installing the custom rom" again, just like explained in tons of threads here...
i hoped i could find a way not to loose all my settings but no such luck
Hi threre,
Yesterday, my WhatsApp kept crashing so I decided to reboot my stock Nexus 4 (4.4.4). Now my phone is stuck in a boot loop. I have access to the recovery menus.
The first thing I tried was wiping my cache. When I open the Android system recovery There is already an error on the bottom half of the screen.:
Code:
E: failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument
)
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open cache/recovery/log
E: failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument
)
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open cache/recovery/log
E: failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument
)
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open cache/recovery/log
E: failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument
)
I have tried wiping the data and cache partitions but when I do that the same errors as above fill up my entire screen and it does not help anything at all.
Next thing I tried was to flash a stock image using this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312. Since I am posting here you can probably guess that this did not work as well.
The problem is that my device is not rooted, and I can not get my bootloader to stay unlocked after a reboot. I have the bootloader drivers installed on my Windows 8.1 pc using the advanced reboot method so I have access to my phone in cmd. fastboot oem unlock does seem to work at first since the "'LOCK STATE" turns to UNLOCKED, but when I do the required reboot for flashing images it turns back to locked.
Perhaps this is a symptom of a bigger cache problem?
I am definitely not a pro at this but I have some experience with rooting phones from my Samsung Galaxy S II.
I really hope that anybody knows an answer other then try you warranty plan because then I will not have my phone for 5 days or more and I am not sure whether they really can fix this...
Lastly, here is the information displayed in my fastboot screen:
Code:
FASTBOOT MODE
PRODUCT_NAME - mako
VARIANT - mako 16 GB
HW VERSION - rev_11
BOOTLOADER VERSION - MAKOZ30d
BASEBAND VERSION - M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1701.03
CARRIER INFO - None
SERIAL NUMBER - xxx wil post this if nescesarry
SIGNING - production
SECURE BOOT - enabled
LOCK STATE - locked
Thanks in advance!
If you can't lock the bootloader that is a symptom of your emmc flash memory failure. Afraid there isn't much you can do. Are you still under warranty?

I still have warranty but I'm a little worried that they will complain about the damage (unrelated to the crash) of my phone. Is there no way of repairing the flash memory?
Hi guys
I really need help with my G2.
Basically, I installed resurrection remix, everything working fine for a week.
Today, when i used my phone, it kept force restarting. Finally, it got into a LG logo bootloop and has not been able to start up.
I managed to get into TWRP recovery but when I tried to reflash my ROM it said it could not mount system.
I decided to flash CWM to see if I could fix the problem and sure enough, it fixed but there is another problem.
When i tried to wipe cache, it hangs and freezes and gets stuck on formatting cache.
I reboot and I see these messages below:
E: Can't mount /sdcard/
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I decide to try wiping cache again but to no avail.
can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance
