[APP] [ROOT] PowerSim: Simulate power button - Final - Optimus One, P500, V Themes and Apps

Has the power button of your phone become less responsive..??
I searched a lot for an app that simulates the short press as well as long press of power button and stumbled upon this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1564174 The thread and the links provided therein helped me to create a task in tasker that simulates the power button.
So, I made a task that simulate the power button and by using tasker's App factory converted the task into an app.
This app doesn't require tasker to be installed.
This app is for:
1. Who doesn't want to remap the power button.
2. Who doesn't want to install app that eats screen space.
3. Who often uses the expanded desktop feature in Paranoid Android roms. (like me)
This app is for rooted phones only.
Installation procedure:
1. Copy the app to the sd card and install like any other app.
2. On first run it will ask to install secure settings plugin. Accept and install.
3. Run the app. You will be presented with two options Screen off & Power menu. Select your option.
4. The app will take time to load and it will try to gain superuser access. Grant it. Note that this happens only in first two runs of the app. The app will be more responsive later.
Tips:
1. If you don't like the notification toast to pop up in every run of the app use supersu. It has an option to disable the notifications.

Version 1: http://db.tt/5OvP4Z0L

Tested on:
Paranoid Android 2.52 (JB)
Oxygen GB

PS: I'm not a developer.. Made this app for my convenience and thought of sharing it.

Screen shots
There is nothing to 'see' in the app, but anyways here are some screen shots. Do test and report.

Oh.. It seems that the app is removed from play store. There is an alternative to this plugin named secure settings. I'll try and use this in the next version. I still have locale execute plugin in my phone. But I'm not sure I'm allowed to mirror it. Better to wait for next version.

Made a new version using secure settings.. Please test and report.

I try to installed it in my PAC ROM by oldroid and it works but when I changed my ROM to rashed ROM it says that app not install I also try to install it on terminal emulator and it says that "failure [installed failed missing shared library ] . Maybe that the reason why some of us failed to installed this application.
I really want this to work on my phone because my power button is almost busted. So please help us.

[TIP] Quick Android Restart

**I DON'T KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO THIS SO TEST AT YOUR OWN RISK**
**THIS DOES NOT WORK ON ANY SENSEUI BUILDS**
Ever wanted to restart Android without going all the way back through Windows? Well here's how, you simply open the Dev Tools App, select Bad Behavior and then the "Crash the system server" selection. (See the screenshots below for help. Now Android will restart.
DEVS - If this is a harmful or bad practice please let me know. I've been doing it for the last few days and so far so good.
Also, I have added the apk for those that don't have it pre-installed.

Have to correct, buddy: not present in Darkstone V2
Not in Mattc's builds either.

I just added the apk above. Extract, install and let me know how it goes.
Works great, very quick in rebooting android.
can´t use it to fix my sporadically occuring 60mA standby bug by rebooting though, which I originally had hoped for.
I added this and it doesnt work on HTC HD 2 with Nexus 2.2 ...
If i start the bad behavior tool it says to me "The app Dev Tools ( process com.android.development ) was unexpected completed... Please try again ...

Well it looks like it doesn't work on SenseUI builds. Ask the Dev to see if he can get it to work.
i use smartbar, put the quick exit to the pull down menu, go home then two times of quick exit will crash android to make a quick restart.
smartbar is very good task manager, its free, worth a try

The app you pointed out shows that the Mediascanner is constantly started, just like in Dexters 1.2a/b Roms. To my knowledge this was never fixed & I believe Dexter's 1.3 went back to the 1.2 build & added your libs and MediaGallery.

The problem was that the media scan would crash when it hit internationalized characters in the ID3 tags (e.g. my Alizée collection--I know, kill me now) and never get any further. So you could restart the scan using these apps but the scan would always crash at the same spot. I ended up transcoding all my ID3 tags to only use ASCII. There was a thread about this but it seems to have been merged with a bunch of other threads. See starting around post #82 (page 9) in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=962744&page=9

[Q] GingerDX v013 screenshots feature help

Hi,
I think i've searched whole forums through and through and i haven't found my answer yet. If there's still a thread with answer to the question lurking somewhere, feel free to point me there.
The question is:
GingerDX 013 has a screenshot feature, accessible via power button hold menu (the one where you choose airplane mode, shutdown & restart), how do i use it (guide + where it saves the results)?
Since when i choose it, menu disappears and nothing else happens. I'd like to take some screenies but i don't want to install any 3rd party tool until i haven't found out whether the internal feature works (or not).
Thanks!

Hi. I use GingerDX V12 and screenshot option is working ok. When i press it he take shoot and saves it into folder pictures (galery)/screenshots. You probably have some problem with ROM. Try reistaling it, or use V12.

Well, thanks for the reply, but i don't find the feature worth reinstalling the complete rom. If i can't get it to work i'll just resort to thirdparty app.
Anyone with v013 who can help me mayhaps?

To take a screenshot you have to shake your phone. Then using gallery you can see the screenshots.
This is what i remember, now I'm on Froyobread, so correct me if I'm wrong.

[ROM][BETA] cTouch Project - No Phone, Just Captivate.

cTouch
By Sepherian
No Phone, Just Captivate
Info: I have removed most of the phone files from the following ROM(s) to turn them basically into a cTouch (captivateTouch)
Phone Files I have Removed: Phone, Messaging, Modem, and any Icons related to a signal has been degraded to ONE pixel. Looks pretty goood.
Directions to flash:
1: NANDROID BACKUP
2: Download your ROM to your SD Card
3: Reboot into recovery, wipe data + cache
4: Install the rom
5: If Rom bootloops retry step 4
6: Prophet?
How I will be updating:
I will evolve the method I use to edit and Build these ROM(s) over time. So they will be labeled by V2 or V3, and the name of the rom will remain the same.
Also, the ROM(s) will update shortly after the developer updates it. (About a week or so)
CM9 and 10 (if they end up being supported) will be updated when I feel like it.
Rom(s) Built so far: (Please read all three posts before downloading)
Superbean 2.8.17 Built by Nygfan760 Download: Click here
If you donate to me, put your xda name and a rom you would like cTouch-inized in the memo and I will put it at the top of my list to finish (even before updates)
Fixes:
For ALL:
Apply Airplane mode AT ALL TIMES. If it is on you should see a little CT in your notification bar. If it is off, your antenna will be on and wasting your battery. For no reason because you don't want this phone as a phone.
Bugs:
For SuperBean:
If you go to Mobile Network settings, the application will crash. This will happen if you long-press airplane or data toggles because those settings are under Mobile Data
And again...
First!

Works pretty well, although the phone app still exists. There are force closes from phone storage on boot. I was going to install titanium but there is no play store. Not very useful without it. I will try grabbing the latest jellybean gapps and pull the play store from that.
----------
Edit: pulled latest gapps for jb from cm wiki. Installed PhoneSky.apk and play store works like a charm. Why in the hell is it called PhoneSky? Backed up, froze, and un installed phone/messaging storage and have no more force closes from it. Did the same to Guard since it handles call and sms blocking, and also com.android.smspush. Everything is working well, going to figure out how to get rid of the phone app now.
----------
Edit 2: As I'm sure you've already figured out, the Phone "app" is just an intent sent to the Contacts app, and I don't think removing contacts would be a good idea...I did find this though: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5812909/removing-android-phone-app

Unable to click install button from apk file

I am currently running the latest paranoid android Rom on my nexus 4 using Franco's milestone 2 kernel. I am having problems installing apps that I downloaded (e.g., Adobe flash update). What happens is I can see the installation screen with the different permissions, but I cannot click on the install button. It works when I install apps from the play store but not through root browser, astro, es explorer. I have tried other apks to make sure it's not just that one file. As well, I had even removed those dimmer apps like twilight and lux before installing. I also stopped the running applications and then tried installing. I'm stumped and I have no idea what to try next. Maybe there is another uncommon app that I need to uninstall before installing off my card...
If anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.
