Help me change my carrier name! - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, hope everyone's having a great day.
I'm trying to change the carrier name on my N4. Rather than just change it in certain places such as the lock screen, drop down notification window, etc., I'm wondering if I can alter the source of where the phone is reading the carrier name from and effectively change the carrier name everywhere.
I was using AOKP up until today when I decided to go back to stock (and update to 4.2.2). AOKP has a feature in which you can change the carrier name, and that worked, changing it both on the lockscreen, in the drop down notification window and everywhere else. Maybe I can imitate that feature?
I'm looking all over in my decompiled framework-res and systemui and I can't find anywhere that specifies the text being shown for my carrier name and that's where my knowledge stops, being new to android/modding.
Hopefully someone can help me out. If changing the carrier name means having to edit each specific spot (lock screen, drop down notification window, etc.) separately I'm totally down to do that.
As a side note, the carrier I'm on is MTS (Manitoba Telecom Services) and for some reason the carrier name is "MTS ‒ MTS" instead of just "MTS", what it should be and what I'd like to change it to. Isn't it possible that my phone might be reading the sim card wrong/the data on MTS' end of things is skewed?
Thank you in advance for your time.

Did you not read my post? I know I have to change values in the .xmls in my framework-res, I just don't know which ones.
Or help doing this: "I believe the custom ROMs that allow for changing this replace all instances of the carrier name with a user-editable string/field that defaults to the system value(read from SIM card) when left null."

The point is there is already a thread discussing this and you should have posted this in there instead of creating a whole new thread on the same subject. Bumping your own posts is also lame.

I have a question and my question is: why not lock all the dev threads afterall, and simply have one post in them where devs just upload link of their rom this way, you and those that think dev threads cannot be used to ask questions, become a happy family?

I believe that Dev threads can be used to question, I just know that Bajee perfers a support thread and a Development thread. All I'm trying to do is make his life easy as he works extremly hard on our Rom.
This is great! It's better this way. We can report bugs here instead of discussing there. Just make sure bajee checks this thread!

There's a video tutorial on the root box site. Follow that. Just remember to use 250 dpi instead of 300

Personally I have no longer been having an issue with cLock not showing on my lock-screen. They appear to have updated it and I no longer have problems with it showing. Also in the newest source it was updated again so you may not have problems then.
Could try doing a full wipe and installing the latest nightly or wait for the next one.
Ps I compile my own rootbox so when I talk about the new update it should be in Bajees next nightly or release
Just to make clear i know how to change dpi and stuff. I simply do not know which apk i select to change the dpi? Logic tells me i should fins lockscreen and changw dpi but when i go to xposed app i do not see a lockscreen apk to change dpi like for example i see a facebook.apk or some other apk

Lockscreen is not an apk. It's not possible to specifically change your lockscreen dpi in this rom.
this rom looks so awesome, looks the best one (all the best roms in one) !
what about :
1. battery
2. performance
3. sweetness
4. translations
5. colours
6. suggestions/requests
7. what is worse than PA ?
?
thanks, i'm looking for the most customisable rom
Can I specify the lockscreen to stay on portrait view?
Hi all.
I have been using this ROM for about 3 weeks now, and I love every single thing about it
Thanks bajee11 to have developed such a great ROM
I run it with Faux123 kernel and it runs smoothly.
One thing I have to ask in this thread and hopefully get a reply is this
Is it possible to keep my lockscreen on a portrait view when I enabled auto rotate?
Or is there any way to make my LINE(chat) to be auto rotate when the screen orientation locked?
I enabled the "Normal Rotation" on Youtube and works fine, but with LINE it can't be done and I am eager to do the same with my LINE.
Hopefully someone will have an answer to this. thanks very much.
Regards, Evan Hendra
In the new nightly the option to have the screen shot in one of the nav keys is gone, (or I'm overlooking it)..... anyway I can add it back in myself? Thanks.
@Bajee.... will there be an option for it again in the future? I know it's in 3.8 but just wondering if it's going to be taken out all together in the next stable release.

Bootloop with faux kernel
Anyone using faux kernel here? I must be doing something wrong because I can't get the phone to boot when I flash the kernel. (I'm using TWRP if that makes any difference).

4.4 Dialer - No suggestions?

One of the new features in 4.4 is that the dialer app now gives you phone numbers of places local to you as you type. I'm running 4.4 (rastakat) on my N4 and if I start typing a word ie "mcdonalds" I was expecting to see results for places local to me, but nothing happens.
Is this an N5 feature only or do I need to do something to enable this? I did search but I can't find mention of this anywhere.

Dear Crazzyfool_1,
I was doing some research myself but I am not sure if I am allowed to post links to other forum in this one. Well I am new here so if I make a mistake then please feel free to let MODS edit my post and remove the link.
According to the website below Dialer.apk and Phone.apk have been replaced with the new TelephonyProvider.apk on the N5. Looking the image it doesn't seem like its a N5 feature. Now I have not tested the new image (rastakat) myself and am not sure if they have modified TelephonyProver.apk or have not included in their release.
So to answer your question I don't think its limited to N5. I'd say ask some more people and wait for some time for others to test the rom and do some more digging.

Hope I was helpful.

That uses google services, therefore is not open source. AOSP dialer will not have this functionality.
Hopefully when n4 image comes, it will be on the n4.

[Q] [QUESTION] Is there a way to move or re-arrange the statusbar elements???

As the title says, I'm looking for a way to move the statusbar elements, i wanna move the signal and WiFi icons to the left side (like on iOS), is there an xposed module or a tweak to achieve this???
Thanks in advance!!!
Hey can I just say it's kinda weird that this question is asked almost exactly the same way and verbiage on this thread.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2604483

I think you have to decompile the system ui and edit it then push it back to system. There is a mod though for galaxy s4 that coverts the icons to ios style.

[Q] Touch Pointer Color Change?

Hey XDA,
Long time lurker, first time poster. First off, thanks a ton for the detailed guides, I was able to root my phone today and install the speaker mod and the camera mod relatively quickly for a COMPLETE novice.
My next question is, can I change the color (from white to anything) of the "Show touches" cursor on my LG G2? I've attached screenshot to help explain what I'm trying to do.

I would think LGSettings.apk or possibly LGE-res.apk or LGSystemui.apk
If you use xposed you could add a feature request to one of the modules in the dev section.

[MOD] Batterty percentage in locksreen status bar plus green carrier text

I cannot find a way to have the battery % show itself in the status bar with the odexed 5.0 system. I have at least been able to show the battery percentage in the lockscreen status bar. I've also changed the carrier text to green instead of white simply because it looks cool. As long as you're on LRX210 this should work for you. Just move the SystemUI.apk to system/priv-app and set permissions to rw-r-r and reboot. See below to for screenshots and the apk for download.

Hey buddy, it worked. I forgot earlier to check a box in settings of my file manager to give root privileges. Is there a chance to show the battery % while the device is NOT in the lock screen only? And also is there a chance to make a white carrier font like it used to be?

As of right now I cannot figure out how to get the percentage to show when the screen is unlocked....if the SystemUI was not odexed it wouldn't be an issue. I'm not really a developer, I just dabble around in XML's and have read a lot on themeing android system files. Getting the percentage to show while the screen is unlocked is still a project I'm working on. If I get it to work trust me I will be sure to post it!
I believe the XML was keygaurd_status_bar.XML
All I did was change the hex color code for the carrier text from white (FFFFFFFF) to green (FF00FF00). Then in the textview parameter for battery percentage I changed the line android:visibility="gone" to android:visibility="visible "
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda premium
Also I've noticed with this mod if you stick the phone on the charger and take it off the battery percentage in the lock screen disappears....once you reboot its back again. Have no idea how to fix that...
