Hi everyone,
I am using a nexus 4, jelly bean 4.2.1, have been rooted. After a week of use, I have noticed some problems:
- Camera: sometimes it stopped working, can't take photos. I searched and found this problem was reported somewhere.
- Laggy transitions in app drawing when I am installing some apps.
- Wifi connection: sometime it doesnt find the wifi network while my friend's iphone can see it.
- Mobile data: After long hours of unused, mobile data is disabled. The only ways to enable it are enable airplane mode or reboot. I saw this problem reported elsewhere too.
- Random laggy: overall the phone is fast and smooth. However, sometimes I find it laggy when opening or closing apps. It happens randomly.
- Baterry drain: sometimes the battery drain significantly. I once experienced 33% to 13% in few minutes of camera use.
Has anyone had the same problem? Hopefully it was a software problem. Do you recommend any other better custom ROM?

Figure out battery drain problem.
I flashed the original stock rom, wipe all data and apps. Today I can use my phone all day with screen on ~ 3hours and ~ 40% battery remaining. Yesterday I noticed an app called LINE ate up 25% of my battery. I thought it was a wrong measurement. However, after removing it, my battery improved significantly.

Guys, I just updated my note to official LPY with root. The installation was smooth, also reinstalled all my apps.
It's the same set of apps I used and I had been careful in disabling the background sync.
Woke up at 9am fully charged, then completely dry at 5pm, not even intensive use.
Anyone else see yhe same problem?

i am on official with cf root kernel and been on for 13 hours with 11% used. superb battery life for me
LPY with CF rooted kernel, 3h of voice call, wifi always on, auto mail check every hour (3 accounts), ebook/comics reading.
1 day and 9 hours on battery and still have 31% left. Not bad for me, round 2% per hour.
Surprisingly that airplane mode -> turn off phone -> pull battery -> turn on phone -> disable airplane mode trick worked for me. Also the pull battery part was essential for no idea what reason.
Now after almost 4 hours intensive use I still have 70%, kinda meets my expectations now.

This is one thing everyone should try...the other thing is (as always): Use the ROM for a week or so! Load and reload it a few times (100% - ~5%)...the battery has to "settle" every and each time you flash a new rom.
mine seems fine. been sitting next to me for the last 4 hours and so far it has lost about 3%
I am also having a horrific battery life. It was much better with both stunner and cm9. I am trying to go back but not sure how to. Dont want to flash anything and brick my phone.

In my hands, the airplane mode trick works, but toggling the energy saving menu restores the no-deep-sleep battery drain state.
Connecting and disconnecting from external power or car dock doesn't seem to precipitate the drain, instead.
Please try yourself to confirm.... In this first ics firmware, knowing what to do to make it work at best is of great importance.

lpy for me not rooted this time if i need root i use the temp one the battery is fantastic
It's not only the crappy battery life.. try opening a folder (Nova Launcher, Apex, Trebuchet - doesn't matter) that contains more than 8 icons... LAGGY AS HELL. kinda miss the chinese leak
Try this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26088090&postcount=86
Im actually having the same issue with battery life. Was using miui and other ics roms with great battery life.
Im assuming its a rouge app or service. But i had 15% drain overnight from 1am-730am and thats not normal when device is not being used.

Having some really strange problems with my Nexus 4 battery. Sometimes my phone will completely drop out at a reasonable percentage, and be completely dead. Now lately, my phone will say 100% but after a reboot, it will say something like 50%.
I loved this phone but somehow after the OTA 4.3 update things started getting seriously messed up.
A lot of times I have Android System, and Android OS (and sometimes mediaserver as well) as leading battery drainers.
I don't understand what is going on with my phone. To fix this I rooted and flashed over Sentinel Rom because it was noted for good battery life.
But the problems from before still persist.
Here are some screenshots of what I'm finding. Please any help would be nice.
My last guess would be this is something hardware related. Could this be a battery issue? Or a wire issue?
I have opened my Nexus 4 previously.
This is driving me ballistic. I love this phone but it needs to last me a bit longer.
Thanks for all your help, lets get this fixed!!
There are some users reporting same behavior and that replacing the buttery fixed their issue.

Try calibrating the battery completely drain your phone then fully charge it

Have you solved using that method suggested? Anyway it's strange a battery lasts only a year -.-
Hello everyone. I recently bought a new Nexus 4,and was supremely satisfied with it. But around one and a half months after purchase, it seems as though the battery dies a lot faster than it used to. A note must be mentioned that since the battery percentage isn't shown by default on the status bar, I installed a third party battery app from the play store. Is it just my imagination or does the battery really die as fast as I'm experiencing it now? My usage of the phone is fairly heavy, with a lot of browsing through 3G,and I go over to my friends house to run torrents on his wifi (with his permission of course). The battery under constant use lasts around 7 hours with 10-15% left. I'm using the stock Android atm, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. I'll consider flashing a custom rom after a few months, seeing as the phone is fairly new.

It's impossible to analyze battery problems without screenshot's of your usage and SOT (screen on time).
I'd even suggest to install BBS / WLD in order to troubleshoot if any program is keeping the phone awake etc', but first we need to see the battery details.
Your stats don't seem that bad to me.

I updated to 4.4.2 a few days ago and am noticing faster battery drain. Just curious if anyone else noticed this?
Yup. Have tried factory resetting twice. Clearing cache. Disabling nearly everything possible. No avail.
Mine was draining a bit faster than normal after the update. I let it run all the way down, and charged it up, and it has been fine since then.
Hope it works out for you guys.

Yes mine is really bad. i even lowered the brightness. like it loses 1% every two minutes even though its screen is off. I gotta get Zerolemon battery or use SetCPU. Does any other 4.4.2 devices have battery drain?
Mine drains extremely fast but seems to charge just as fast

Ive gotten better battery performance since setting up Battery Guru and disabling all app refresh unless I open them. Still seeing very fast battery drain, but it's definitely improved.

YUP. I work 3rd shift and used to be able to go all night with one charge. Streaming music on wifi all night. Now I have to recharge at lunch.

Yeah I've noticed that the battery life is a little worse than the past two updates.

FAst drain slow charge
The battery on mine would drain quick and charge forever. It would take me close to 12 hours charging it to be full. Any help?
Camera bug = Battery Drain
Did some looking around, and it appears to be a bug related to the camera (i know, sounds a little odd).
Here's one link of many I've found regarding this issue...Samsung has acknowledged an issue and is working on a fix:
"cultofandroid.com/53672/google-vows-fix-android-4-4-2s-camera-battery-drain-bug"
I am thinking this is more regarding the ASOP camera. We don't have that file or app that they say to look for.

I posted this in the 4.4.2 issues thread, but will post here:
EAS continuously running....I found this out as well after the update. I cant believe its low priority for such a major issue. I switched mine to manual just to be safe. I also found a major battery drain issue when surfing on the internet via LTE service.
Any way, I wanted to see if others could replicate my issue:
-Stock (non-rooted) S4 phone with the recent 4.4.2 update on LTE with 5 bars of service.
-I am using Chrome to surf the internet.
-I have Exchange and Gmail accounts. Gmail is set to PUSH and exchange is set to manual. (My hope is that having Exchange set to manual I avoid the EAS issue described above.)
-Majority of the boatware turned off
Scenario: While using Chrome to surf via LTE service I am literally able to see a 1% decrease in battery ever 2-3 minutes of surfing on the internet. Wifi is better, but still drains faster than 4.3.
Can anyone else try and replicate and respond back? I may have to do a hard reset to see if it will remedy the issue. :-/
Thanks,
Eric
My battery life has been exponentially better since enabling battery guru. Use inactivity power boost to disable all app refresh after 15 minutes of inactivity. Set everything to manual refresh.

Yes I have had worse battery drain with the KitKat update. Hoping for an AT&T update since we dont have the option to flash roms...
What are you actually seeing for battery consumption?
I have google+ at the top of the list with >30% use. Definitely new after 4.4.2 update.
Seemed to be ok for a day and then popped back up. I'm going to try to see if it's caused by 1st use of the camera.
Live wallpapers causing bigger drain on kitkat I found

I'm not using live wallpapers.
Rebooting the phone and avoiding use of the camera did not help.
I uninstalled all google+ updates that that has worked so far, but definitely not a long term solution.
Well I would up flashing the MK2 revert, then changed my mind and re-updated to NB1 (these two processes involved many full-wipes and even flashing a .pit file). Installed all my apps one-by-one. I'm now getting better battery life. Still higher than previous usage by Android System (usually ends up being 14-17%).
NB1 now works pretty damn well for me. Once we get root I will be able to disable some stupid things like the boot sound and charger connection sound, along with a few apps that just don't need to be running like Knox and Security Policy Updates...

I have a big battery drain and serious wifi issues, cant connect to wifi cuz some security is blocking it, at the moment I have rooted the device and am going to install a custom rom, screw Samsung and their BS
Since a few weeks I'm experiencing excessive battery drain on my stock Android Nexus 4.
What I tried without succes:
Switching from Chrome to Dolphin Browser
Lowering screen brightness
Lowering screen timeout
In the attachment you can find screenshots from monitoring app GSAM after half a day usage.
Mainly did some browsing, partly on 3G.
How to find out if the culprit is some background process, some app or some Android 4.4.* update?
First, you need an add blocker. If you're rooted try adaway. Google it.
I don't see anything terrible there. You're signals look good. But they're usually the main problem. If you had low Wi-Fi or data signals they could have caused your issue. The browser looks a little high relative to your screen on so maybe that's a little bit of an issue. Is this a one time occurrence or is it typical?

Thanks for the tip.
I've been using home WiFi and the best 3G provider of my country, so in theory the signal should be healthy.
The day before yesterday the phone shut down after 8-9 hours being on, of which 3 - 3,5 hours active usage.
While browsing I see the battery dropping about 1% per minute. This is since about 2 weeks (not sure whether it's since a certain Android update).
I've read some user complaints about battery usage with the recent Android updates, but not about solutions.
I'll attach new screenshots from GSAM later today when the battery is almost empty.
how do i wipe the battery status on nexus 4?
