Well I don't trust Firefox..
mate the Firefox is the most trashy web browser.. is the only web browser that crash on my systems (yeah .. on 3 computers). Why I should trust the OS? I bet is gonna be a junk like the browser itself. Firefox lost their start.. now they are far behind.. the market is already shared! is gonna be a total disaster!
Would definitely be interesting..!!
since the firefox os is being developed for low end devices, i wonder if it would be possible if they can make a universally flashable image or something that would support all phones..!!
that would be amazing...

I completely disagree. Firefox is one of the best browsers out there! Nothing beats chrome, haha, but I think Firefox is right behind it. It's very fast and stable.
And Firefox OS is really smooth, from what I've heard around the community. It doesn't require a whole lotta juice from the phone.

here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709763, its only the launcher (which is the main component of touchwiz anyway). Have fun
p.s. i recommend using a stock n1 rom since people using this have had the most sucess with it
I think we have enough smart devs here to make it possible. It's only a question of whether they want it or not

Thanks for this, it's quite good.
i dont know.. The UI just seems very useless. It's like Samsung just wanted to be different and put something on top of Android. Maybe later down the road.. but I definatly prefer the devs focus more on Sense and Stock but TBH I'm just happy I have android on my HD2.
100% agreed Samsungs android customizations are total junk.
It's the screen the makes the phone, not the Android layout IMO, but taste differ.

If you want iOS buy an iPhone.
I have a Galaxy 3 and an iPad and my dad has an Iphone 3GS... I totally prefer android over iphone... You can do way more stuff because it is open source... If only developers would port ios apps on android... There are some really neat ios ones but mostly the App store is full of crap
shall we try porting windows 7 ultimate to sg3
Okey guys thanks for the information ^^

everything is possible .. but the whole idea is idiotic. no offense
I don't think iPhones and Android phones actually share the same architecture.
Porting iOS to Android phones would be like porting Mac OS X to PC. It's possible, but it's quite long, hard, and you end with a half-functionning system, full of bugs.
There's nothing that great in iOS in comparison with Android. Just a bit different approach on things. I have an iPad2 and I still love my G3 =)

Yeah... I was gonna port it yesterday during my math class. I've practiced porting random sdk versions so i could be ready for ics. I downloaded all the files I needed, then I saw armv7a in the name of the folder the system.img was in. I was worried so I examined it anyway. Built for a cpu that we don't have I went into that class excited, came out disappointed

Probably not cheaper than free... thats what the G1 is to most of us... I agree its not worth buying now, but if you already own it, why not see what we can do with it.

well, free because we've moved on and its just sitting there collecting dust. Honestly though, I don't care to run ics on it either, the new features aren't of any use to the g1, so it really would just be for the theming which they could do.
rather than ICS I'd like to see other uses for these phones... I was using mine as a little boxee remote for a while... But I'd like to see more single use roms that are streamlined for some single purposes (like media pc remotes, c64 or ibm pc emulators (on bootup), carpc (probably too small for that), whatever...)
I was porting ICS to HD2, but there is something weird going on with surface flinger libs & binaries and dalvik-vm.. You can't de-odex the files with baksmali..

MiUi is mimics iOS5.x almost in every fashion. If you were to lay a iOS theme on it, and did a screen shot no one would know the difference.
Resolution
MiUi sounds like a great mimic, and I'm going to give it a try. But is there any way to make it the primary operating system of a phone like the Droid X? What is the fundamental difference between the phones that is preventing migration?
Try iLauncher by SUCKGAMONI on the Google Playstore. If you want the MIUI launcher here it is:View attachment MIUI_Launcher_3.1.apk
(This is not my work)

I am only asking out of curiosity and not out of a desire. I know that ios is not open source so making an ios rom is not realistic, but if super hacker really wanted to, could he or she make it work some how? Or what about a program which could sniff out the source code for closed source platforms?
I am very happy with Android no desire for iPhone(unless free) just asking

i dont think it would be too hard to port for a pro, the problem would be with drivers. how will iOS know what to do with your htc/samsung/etc hardware?
Theoretically, given unlimited amount of time and unlimited determination, one could make such a port work, at least partially.
Practically, given different HW of those phones, the amount of time and determination required to port anything newer than iOS3 are close to insane - unrealistic enough for anybody to want to do it.
If one were to say make a port of ios, would it be illegal to release it being that ios is closed source or would this fall under fair use? More than likely Apple would sue who ever released it lol

Held all MIUIs, KitKat, now runs JellyBean without problems
On Android's official webpage is information that new Android can run well on devices with 512megs of RAM.
I think kernel with 1GHz governor for CPU will be enough.
Yesterday I saw cheap phone w/ 1GHz CPU, 1GB RAM and android 5 on board. As we see it's possible to run

This is almost certainly true, but the whole point is to just get it booting, right? Like when they got JB running on the G1 :silly: a.s.j forgot to tell you, you should check out the #andromadus IRC to see if any of the devs still chat on there and also I've found members of the Slim ROMs team INCREDIBLY helpful in the past, I think they have an IRC channel too if you're new to the IRC stuff just say
