Hello Everyone,
I am just posting this thread and very interested to know whether someone has even tried to use the external USB/Wireless Webcam to connect to the Galaxy Note 10.1 and use it as a webcam viewer. I have seen the links below and understand that some Android Devices mentioned there can make it happen already and there is even an app there. So if someone interested or tried before this, kindly share your thoughts/experiences and I will be very grateful indeed.

I am very keen to know this because I am trying to use the external USB/Wireless Webcam as a rear camera attached/connected to my Note in my car so that when I want to park, view wider rear view while driving. It would be very nice if the above works with the Note

You will have to get a OTG cable (a few dollars) and either root the device and install StickMount, or use one of the ones method that don't need rooting (which I believe are read-only)
well. there are several threads talking about the OTG USB Cable, so you need one of those and obviously anything like a card reader.
Depending on what Nikon Camera you are using, you might consider the Setting if a second cardslot is available to shoot in Raw on first card, as well as JPG on the second one. Just to compare pictures on a bigger screen - like sharpness, posing etc, doesn't require to be in RAW at all. ( D600, D7000 got 2 slots for example ).
Another way would be using Eye-Fi Cards, but as far as i read several reviews, the speed and reliability of those cards are a matter for themself.
My advise:
Setup your camera to shoot raw and jpg (basic) will do.
buy OTG dongle on amazon or ebay for 1-5$
buy smallest cardreader available ( you can chose between sd card or microsd + adapter ( micro sd cardreader are very tiny obviously )
shoot photos
connect otg and cardreader to nexus, insert card, and review pictures (jpg)
Hope this works, Cheers.

Read only should be enough to just review the pictures on a bigger size screen.
If your camera has its own USB cord for transferring to a comouter . You might be able just to plug it into the nexus 7 with a otgcable and for me it auto launches the gallery and displays the picture

You're having a giraffe aren't you ?
You don't say which camera body you're using or in what scenario.
Studio? Your options are many. Location? Less so. Wi-Fi? Depends on how techy you are.
I've used those pocket sized wi-fi routers in the past with some success and many issues.
Shoot raw+ small jpeg, transfer the jpegs to the N7 using USB OTG (root required) and choose from one of the many gallery apps on the market.
Might want to go for a 10" tablet as the 7" is a bit small for anything but checking composition.
No way yet to calibrate the display for colour fidelity, either.
Have you tried contact sheets a chinagraph and a loupe
I am using dslrdashboard having my Nikon D80 connected via OTG to my Nexus. Principally I can do shoots initiated by the Nexus. there is only one disadvantage at the moment: the images cannot be zoomed when being displayed on the screen.

Get Photomate on the Google play, its supports most raw formats, and is amazing..
I use Rawpal Gallery Lite to view the raw photos from my Nikon D3100. Then if I want to lightly edit (im no professional) and share them I save them to my tablet and make the edits with Photo Mate Professional. I would simply use the latter app to view and import the photos but I cant find where my camera mount on my tab. I should mention that I connect my camera directly to the tablet with a standard mini usb cable and a utg cable.
Great! I just wanted to check if I could do this before I buy one.
I'll be using it in the field and its really just for check that the photo is focused and composition. I'll probly just use a cable and shoot in RAW and JPEG. Im using a D90 and it will let me do that. Thank for all the info and options.

30 years ago it was all film and dim viewfinders. Somehow, we managed.
Somehow managed with upside down viewfinders on medium format, too.
Trust me, it was a lot easier then
As the title says, how do I go about mounting my DSLR as an external hard drive on my Nexus 7?
The problem is that I shoot RAW and RAW files are not seen in the Gallery. Any help is appreciated...
Search at Google Play for "raw photos". Photo Mate working here, but is not perfect.
Connect your cam through MSC mode.

I know Canon and Nikon work with Helicon Remote.

Stop... MUFFIN TIME!!!
Now the problem I'm facing with my Nexus 7 is that I connect my DSLR (Canon 1000D/60D) and I can't seem to find where the camera storage is mounted. Any help with that?
Actually, disregard that. I've managed to buy Photo Mate and it detects my DSLRs whenever one is connected. Once that happens it gives me the ability to copy all pictures on camera to the tablet. Thanks for the help though!
Hi Everybody,
I'm thinking about to create a hardware for guys who are interested in optical zoom lens.
I've updated the spec and demo clip.
I'm very familiar with AF(Autofocus) and I've some really great AF algorithm. I'm thinking to make a module which can do autofocus and leave enough interface to user to explore more applications with it. Here is brief spec for this project and if there are more people interested I'm going to make it to be a kit:
1. 18X Optical zoom lens with F1.8 aperture.
2. Encoding 1080p30 to SDCARD and output 1080i60 through HDMI or Component.
3. AutoFocus and Manual Focus. Controllable by commands.
4. Wifi is optional for control and remote live streaming. There will be Android apps for it.
There will be a lot of interfaces open as command set, controlling by UART, or USB interface. The hardware will be with metal housing which can be assembled to many places with screws and nuts.

Any question is welcome at present.
Piqued my interest. I'm curious to continue

It seems not too many people are interested. I'm feeling strange that there are so many camcorder sold with preset features, why nobody is interested to make it fully controlled by themselves?
For example, you can have your computer to control the camera to make it surveilance camera fully controlled by yourself. Our your cellphone to be another monitor and controller of the optical zoom camcorder......
I m interested

Anything you expect from it?
In fact I'm collecting application and wishlist for it. Once the spec is fix I may want to start to get it to be something that's affordable. Well, lens is so expensive.
For DIY Optical Zoom Lens module with 1080p output
I‘m very interesting.Pls contact as soon as. mail:[email protected]

I think the micro USB/hdmi slot can only output video.

No, that's not possible. You can only use the "smart remote" camera app on the a7RII in combination with the playmemories mobile app on the Note 4 to have a remote view (using WiFi) of the screen, but that's most likely something you've already figured out.
Hi,
"only output video" ?? What about load a complete nre operating system/ROM ??
Thats possible with Nikon DSLR cameras that have biultin Wifi but not via HDMI. Phones HDMI is Out and camera's HDMI OUT too. both will send signals to one another only
Hi,
I tried that app, but is not good for my propose. I need high definition for focus.

I understand, but the screen is so good anda the size is perfect for me.
If a forget that is a mobile phone and is note 4 just as a screen of camera ?? with some version of Linux ? anything.
My alternative is to by another monitor that is more expensive and with less defenition...so I am consegering to use this Note 4 just for Photography.

So, the V20 is a great camera, and great videography camera as well. I'd rather not spend the money on a DSLR when my V20 can make great quality video, but the problem is, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE CAMERA IS LOOKING AT WHEN SELF-SHOOTING! why is there no PC app that can somehow remotely connect to an Android phone and show you the viewfinder on your PC? This would be perfect for self shooting videos! Does anyone know of something I'm missing?? Is there an app that does this?
Hell, is there an Android app that does this, so I could use a tablet as a remote viewfinder??
I use TeamViewer but there's plenty of other options just Google it. Here is a YouTube video on how to use TeamViewer https://youtu.be/xFN1rI70IWg
