JXD S7300 phone function - Hardware Hacking General

Now this is a 7 inch android tablet or w/e with dual joysticks and buttons.
It seems as though it would make the PERFECT gaming phone. But doesn't seem to take sim cards .
Is there anything like this that could? Or could this thing be hacked to make calls?

best advice.. it says external ethernet.. Im assuming it is copatible with usb dongles... get a 3g dongle with a data plan, pick up GrooveIP app and get all your calls..

Sorry for the questions (ipad and others)

So Im all geeky and what not and would love to have this phone. I've had my iphone (of course he's had an iphone) for awhile and fell in love with it, but I'd like to fall in love with android too.. I went to the at&t store to see if they would price match Amazons price, of course the guy didn't know, he asked around and then just ignored that I was there.. so I left
My big concern is wifi tethering to the ipad, I've read that it works, but I've read that the ipad doesn't even get close to the speed the phone should give it. Of course this is with the legit $45 a month at&t rape plan. Can anyone do a speedtest on a tethered ipad to see if they get fast speeds and what tethering method you used?
have any of you connected your atrix to a car stereo that supports USB? I'd really love to know if this supports that function (which I'm sure has more to do with the stereo than the phone). This one could be a deal breaker for me.
With the crippled Dlo and Ulo on the atrix it was crap for me while using the Hulu app.
Once I rooted and ROM'd my Inspire it was fine. I was getting 3Mbps D and 1.2Mbps U while wifi tethered to my iPad.
Edit: I am on a Grandfathered $30 unlimited data plan.
So noone plugs theirs into a car stereo via usb?
i have a kenwood exelon x7 something and have had it work a few times, not consistant though kinda like luck. Sometimes it says no device, other time drive1 and no audio files. then when it works shows drive2 then finds my album folder and can browse my music. Putting it as usb mass storage. seems to unmount storage sometimes so im not sure whats its doing.
My car has both a bluetooth connect and usb connect. I have only used the the wireless connection but I will try the usb out for the morning commute and let you know how it goes.

ok update got mine working consistant now.
1st i plug in phone to usb in usb mass storage mode, the head unit changes to usb and the phone unmounts the storage. The phone takes longer than the stereo likes so usually pops up no device or switched back to radio or whatever was playing last. then i keep phone plugged in once its done unmounting storage switch head unit off usb (so to radio) then back to usb and it starts to read takes a little bit but finds its. hopefully that helps you.

Uses for evo without service?

I've got an evo thats been blacklisted by sprint due to insurance reasons, and I was just wondering if theres anything cool I can do outside of the obvious stuff. I'm thinking a complete os overhaul kinda thing designed for wifi use alone, maybe? I dunno, any ideas?

you can flash it to another provider like Cricket or Boost if you want to use it as an actual phone.
You can use it as a personal media player (audio or video)
or
combined with an HDMI cable and a ps3 controller, wii remote, or a phonejoy and use it as an android or retro gaming console
or
you could use it as a tiny web server I suppose
Put in airplane mode, and you can do anything you could do with service except for make calls and text.
Android retro gaming console is exactly the creativity I was looking for haha. I don't need to flash it to another provider seeing as I still have sprint, and if necessary I can gtalk/text over wifi.
The media player was one of those obvious ideas, though the hdmi cable would make it a pretty sweet portable movie collection. Thanks for the suggestions guys, any more ideas?

With wifi and a voip account or Google voice you could use it as a web phone, you could mod it into an entertainment device al la iPod touch, flash it to another carrier, really only your imagination limits the possibilities, even turn it into a portable computer using office apps and wifi for email and creating documents on the go, a pretty nice digital camera/portable photo editing device, and etc
had oen for the last few months until a TWRP death flash.
Used GrooveIP to make it a backup phone, Google Voice to make it a backup text point. Wiimote and some emulators and HDMIwin etc to make it play games.

Nexus 10 usable as screen?

Hi xda users,
since the display of the Nexus 10 will be awesome I'm contemplating getting it because I'd really like to use it as a (second) screen for my computer. Does anyone know if this will be possible? Probably not without, but maybe *with* a mod? Can we use this Miracast Screen Share the other way round possibly?
It'd be really cool to play games on it as well, with the power of my desktop. I wouldn't be able to tell the pixels apart/ wouldn't see any pixelisation. Also this will get rid of the need for antialiasing which will boost performance
Woohoooo
There's an app for that
iDisplay or Splashtop 2
I personally haven't tried them out but they might be what your looking for.
Thanks! Well Splashtop2 is only over Wireless, so it's probably going to be to slow at least for gaming. iDevices with USB support looks better. Does anyone know how bad the latency is (with both)?
Anyway to make the tablet as a video monitor? i/e hdmi IN?
Splashtop2 is pretty good and there is hardly any delay so depending on what you are using it for it might be okay, but it doesn't give you an extra screen just mirrors an existing one. If you want an additional screen you could try airdisplay, haven't tried it for gaming but it might be okay.
Also I have played D3 using Splashtop and besides not being a very good game it worked fine.
OMG that's awesome sauce
OMG that's an awesome idea, the Nexus 10 has resolution comparable to my 30 inch monitor... crazy.
please post to tell us if it worked.
Yeah I'm very interested in this. I tried out Air Display and it worked well, but it had low framerates and some lag.
How can I use the Nexus 10 to replace the cracked screen on my Lenovo E420 laptop?
I will not always have access to a wireless network, so I need to find a solution that is either wired or bluetooth.
I assume a wired connection would be best, followed by bluetooth.
Thanks.

I don't think it's possible to do it wired, because the Nexus 10 has no input port for its display.
Bluetooth as far as I know does not have a protocoll for video transfer, so that's not possible either afaik.
However you might be able to connect them per WiFi Direct oder WiFi Ad-Hoc, meaning you don't need WiFi network on it's own because they connect directly or the Nexus 10 to the Ad-Hoc network, respectively. If your laptop supports WiFi Direct (you can look it up on the WiFi Alliance Website, every product is listed there) you might be able to use Miracast. But you need software for it on your laptop for windows or whatever you use. If you got Android 4.2 on it, then you don't need new software ;P (that's probably not easily achieved, but may be soon when there's an official x86 AndroidOSP Version).
If not, try DLNA. I don't know if Windows or Linux supports it, but I think support is achievable through software.
Good luck and report back if it works!

I want to use splashtop with my N4 and a mini ITX portable PC without a monitor how?

Guys I just got a great idea.
I can play GTA 4 on a N4 with splashtop right?
Thing is I wanna carry around a ultra mini itx PC in my backpack. They can now carry a AMD richland A10 APU that play everything in medium setting and HD resolution. Its great for work because I work split shift with american airlines and the waiting period between shifts can be anywhere from 4 to 6 hours and if the plane delay well even better more time to kill even if its $3 US an hour I make.
But how would you log on in the PC side? would you need a monitor or can you put it to autostart when you press a button and auto login so you can then control it with a phone
because carrying around a monitor defeats the purpose of why I want to build this.

You could have the computer have no login password so it automatically logs in on boot, and put a shortcut to splashtop in the startup folder so it starts when the computer boots. The main issue with it would be getting the computer internet access so that you could actually connect to it
so splashtop needs internet connection?
Remember I work in the airport so I have WIFI internet in both the office and in pizza boys. Ethernet is a no no I only have access to the WIFI password for AA So internet is a non issue for me but if you mean it needs monitor and mouse to connect to the wifi first and then use splashtop I see the issue.
Cant I just autostart it with windows like you said and then control it with my phone from there?
there are monitors in work I could disconnect one and bring my mouse for one day and connect to the wifi and save it? so it always auto connect when the PC starts?
My solution must be cheap and very portable for playing PC games on my N4. This PC must not have any mouse and keyboard and or monitor the only cable it must have is a power.

[Q] USB dongle support? Voice Calling with USB Dongle?

Hi people
So I bought the tegra note 7 recently, before discovering that a 4G LTE version was on the way. So I wanted to know if there was any way to make voice calls with this tablet using an external USB dongle and my sim. My USB OTG cable is in transit as of now so I'm not sure even if the tablet supports external dongles.
Any and all help is appreciated.
P.S. this is my first thread post here. (and I'm not very smart with such stuff)
Plz help.

The Note certainly has a microphone because there is a built in voice recorder. You can't see the voice recorder in the app tray, but it's on the tablet (I stumbled upon it after I installed Nova Launcher then was looking at what shortcuts/actions I could assign to the dock).
As for using a USB dongle with OTG, I haven't tried it because I have a MiFi. Perhaps someone else can chip in...
C'mon guys...help a newbie
M prepared to compromise now... ..i think 'tablet talk' will suit me and sync and transfer all my calls and texts from me cell to tab over wifi direct or bluetooth but if some one could suggest a free alternative for it?
i need something to transfer all my calls and texts to my tab and vice versa...possibly over bluetooth.
