I recently got windows 8 for my pc and tested out some of the browsers only to find at this moment in time Internet Explorer is the one with the best metro ui so I decided to wait till the others got updated and stick with IE(for the time being).
However there's one major thing that's annoying me and that's that my default search engine has been turned to conduit and there's no simple setting to get rid of it and uninstall conduit can anybody help me please?
Did you change it in Desktop mode? Internet Options -> Programs -> Manage add-ons -> Search Providers?

The latest version of Facebook always force closes on me (after the first time it is loaded after a reload). I've read that the later versions of Facebook have a location function looking for a GPS or something to identify the whereabouts of the user. Is there a way to sideload an older version of FB that doesn't require location (or is there some other way around this)? I've tried setting the location in settings to every possible combination with no success.
I am running nightly 243 on my emmc. Thanks for any suggestions.
Install Gps teather lite. Start client then start facebook

Or, go to Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All, pick the Facebook app and click on Uninstall. Since the Facebook app is part of the default GAPPS package, it will uninstall the update, and revert you back to the original (working) version.
I personally use an app called "Fake GPS" which does essentially the same thing that @ndinfla was talking about. It fakes a GPS location, and the newest Facebook app no longer crashes.
Either option should work for you.
Thanks to you both.
Is there a way or version that will not require the 'faking'?
Have you tried using LBE Privacy Guard to block the Facebook GPS request?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lbe.security.lite
Thanks I'll give that a try as well.
LBE works like a charm! I had no idea that that was what's crashing FB. Thanks for the tip!

There is a function in the built in browser that says sync with google chrome. I have tried to logon to my google account there, but nothing happens. If I could sync my bookmarks with google I would never use any other browser.
Anybody got it to work and want to share the secret?
One more question is about flash. I have got it working in the built in browser, but not in Opera mini, my son also have a 10.1 and he can use flash in Opera.. He says he has not done everything special. Why doesn't it work for me?

Hmmm.... this isn't the 10.1" section, but nevertheless :
1; Install the Chrome-browser from the market, sync with your PC, then use the buit in browser to sync with the installed Chrome...
2. Some browsers support flash , some not without installing it. I use Dolphin HD...

2. I know some browsers dont support flash, but my son and both tried Opera mini, and it works in his tab but not in mine.

I suppose you both have the same FW installed, or does your Tab have different ROM in it ? Maybe you should look for a working install for Flash then and try if it improves anything...
Here's the solution that will fix your problem.
Follow the instructions below, do not skip any steps.
Desktop Chrome Settings
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Advanced Sync Settings
3. Choose either Sync Everything or ensure Open Tabs is ticked
Android Settings
1. Go to your System Settings
2. Under Accounts, go to Google
3. Select your Google Account email address
4. Ensure Chrome is ticked
Android Chrome Settings
1. Go to Settings
2. Under Basics, click on your Google Account email address
3. Tick Chrome to Mobile
4. Click on Sync
5. Choose either Sync Everything or ensure Open Tabs is ticked
Now, the tabs you open in your desktop will be available on your Android, under the Synced Tab (at the bottom, next to the Favourites (star) tab).
The tabs you open in your Android will also be available on your desktop, under Menu -> Recent Tabs.
My data plan is limited and I prefer using my PC web browser to find new apps in playstore to install.
Is there a setting, an app or mod to use so that my note 3 will only download apps when it's on wifi?
i think you have that option in playstore it self.
under setting, auto update apps

I think this is something you can decide before installing new app. Except for updates were done automatically. Unless you are saying new apps are installing by itself.

No, what I mean is I'm using my PC browse playstore and clicked install on the apps I want to use it on my note 3. In current situation, my note 3 will then automatically download and install the apps on the 3g network which is using up my limited data plan.
Is there anyway to make it such that my note 3 will only download and install the apps only when my note 3 wifi is connected.

Maybe you can add them into wish list then install manually from Note 3 when its connected to wireless.
When you click install mean, you are telling your phone to download regardless wifi / data
Either both way from mobile device / PC

On the phone Playstore settings set update app over wifi only. Then on the PC browser login with the same google account on your phone playstore. Then on PC browser playstore go to any app you would like to install, click install, the particular app will be installed in your phone instantly.
This way if your phone is on 3G still it wont download the app. If you’re not connected to any data network, next time when you will be connected, the app will download right then.
I’ve been doing this for long as phone playstore is hard to read app details and user reviews. Hope this will help.

Currently my apps update only download when I've enable WIFI and I want my apps install (triggered by PC browser) to behave the same way.
I don't understand what you mean in bold as my current experience is my phone on 3G will download the app almost immediately upon clicking the install button in playstore via my PC browser.

What I mean, with this settings if your phone is on 3G data it wont download the app right then, it will start download when you will be connected to WIFI next time. But if you're on wifi the app will start download right then. Home this make sense.

In the playstore app on my phone, the Auto-update apps is already set to Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only. On my PC browser, I'm logon with the same account as in my phone. When I click on the install button of an app, my phone on 3G download the app almost immediately. My setup are the same as you but I'm getting a different result as you've mentioned.
Would like to highlight again, apps that have been installed on my phone only download updates when my phone wifi turn on, I would like to have this behavior to apply when I clicked install new apps on my PC browser.
I can't test it right now because providers do not appear to be aware of thw existence of reinforced concrete houses. (G, 1 bar... If I'm lucky.)
But try this:
Turn on Restrict Background data for Google Play Store, Google Play Services and Media under settings > Data Usags > the app in the list > restrict background data (all the way at the bottom).

I am coming from a Nexus 7 2013 which could reliably run the Private Internet Access app for days at a time without any issues and most importantly without closing. On my M3, the app randomly shuts down and turns off the VPN after an hour or so; I'm guessing this has something to do with RAM management. Any ideas on how to remedy this? It's been kinda sucky to realize that my connection has been unsecure for an unknown amount of time once I realize that the app decided to close by itself.
You should go to Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Battery Manager -> Protected Apps and enable it for the VPN app so it will not get closed when the screen turns off.

Wow I was not aware this was a built-in feature on this tablet. Screw you, EMUI, and thank you, Flavio!!
On MIUI12 currently. Is it possible to uninstall YouTube and setup so that all YT links open via Vanced?
Similarly, all my current internet links open via Chrome even after chrome is disabled. Is it possible to setup such that all Net links open via Edge?
Did you unistalled all youtube updates?
In settings you have to choose default app

Yes. It Doesnt work. I have already setup Brave & Vanced as default, but the links still open in Chrome & YouTube app.
Why you still have youtube app, it should be replaced by vanced, so you did something wrong. Uninstall vanced and install it again.
Use vanced manager.
As for browser, you state that all links open in edge, then in chrome.
Use debloat to disable all others browsers

Reinstalled Vanced and disabled Youtube, YT links still open in Youtube app. It has something to do with Webapps I guess which allows using of apps without even installing them.

Still opening in Youtube only.
So you didn't disabled youtube.
Just use XiaomiADBfastboot tool, it's on github, but you have to install JAVA
Download jar app
And stick to instructions:
Connecting a device in ADB mode
Enable developer options in Android.
MIUI: Go to Settings > About device and tap ‘MIUI version’ seven times to enable developer options.
Android One: Go to Settings > System > About device and tap ‘Build number’ seven times to enable developer options.
Enable USB debugging in Android.
MIUI: Go to Settings > Additional settings > Developer options and enable USB debugging.
In order to use the Screen density and Screen resolution modules, enable USB debugging (Security settings) as well.
Android One: Go to Settings > System > Developer options and enable USB debugging.
Connect your device to the computer and launch the application. The device is going to ask for authorisation, which you'll have to allow.
Wait for the application to detect your device. The device info should appear in the top left section.

So what I did to fix it was make vanced default and installed as non root
Then left YouTube on the phone and I can now open Google links and watch videos on playstore. Idk it revanced has this fixed? That app seems to be premium enabled but it doesn't seem to be as prime to be as vanced
But I honestly have all 3 installed lol

You need to disable personalised results in Google account search preferences
Go to google.com > three lines at the left corner > search setting > personalised result.. And disable it
