Hi all, I hope someone can help.
I rooted my nook color when I first got it...a few years ago? I have since upgraded to the Sony Tablet S and wanted to give my Nook to a friend. I was a good girl and wiped my personal info from it (cause he doesn't need that stuff!)
It was running miui and worked fine for me. When he tried to download from the market though it would forceclose. "Self," i thought "This should be simple! it probably just needs a market update!" which started my journey. Miui comes with gapps already, which is probably why I chose it...simple (and pretty!). I went to theunlokr dot com which is where I went last time and then back here of course (cause all links lead to XDA). I thought I'd try to get him something more updated. I started with a ROM that seemed to have no gapps and no working link to download them---fail. I tried CM7 (since I have cwm already directions say I dont have to do that img sd card thingie ((I know I know, my technical jargon astounds you))) but I get e:can't open /sdcard/cm-7.2.0-encore.zip (bad) installation aborted.
It will let me load Miui again but I still can't get the market to function.
SO i'm lost in the forest of dead links and my own lack of programming knowledge. He was so excited to get the nook color, and I'd REALLY like to get it up and running again.
My clockworkmod is 3.2.0.1 if that matters, and it is a Nook Color (though I've not run the stock software since I got it)
thanks for any help!

I redownloaded the file as you suggested and it's still bad.
I also seem to have broken gapps on mirage (cm7.2 i believe) and the cm10 (which is I like as it's based on what my sony is running). seems to have no keyboard OR gapps! I give props to you guys who know this stuff and play with it for fun! =0) I can't figure out what I've done wrong... I'll figure it out. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks again!

The keyboard error in CM10 is usually caused by using the wrong gapps, make sure you are using the 20121011 version for CM10.

The no keyboard in CM10 is because you flashed the wrong version of gapps. It needs to be gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip.
And mirage should have gapps in it already. But it needs a gapps-gb version.
And your anti-virus could be corrupting your CM7.2 download. Turn it off temporarily while downloading.

Hello people,
I was looking through the nightly builds on download.cyanogenmod.com
I saw a fresh build for TF101 dated for 2/27.
Check it out. I will flash it and see how it is.
Someone also needs to create an Official CM9 Nightly page in Dev section.
So who wants to be the Guinea pig? I'm already running that KANG that was posted up earlier this weekend. I may try it after I charge up.
yea...guinea pig here....goes through boot animation and then system ui and trebuchet (the launcher) fc...i would say stay away until some official announcement is made
Yeah. It doesn't even boot up probably. :-(... going back to stock

You have to start somewhere.
Now at least we have an official CM9 branch, which means someone is working on it

ehm where from?
Edit: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=tf101
Found IT ^_^
I got launcher force closes when i had an overclocked kernel with a stock rom. Gonna check this out a little later.

I'm surprised that this news seems to be not generating much buzz here. Not knocking any of the other devs, because most of them do amazing work, but CM is the bee's knees. When those nightlies get semi-mature, I'll be running them and never look back. They've never done me wrong before. Any device I've ever had that was supported, was the best ROM available for my needs. YMMV, of course.
I think when its own thread is created youll see the buzz, cm rocks lol

I tried flashing it and got the same fc, the system ui and launcher. I tried it again but formatted system this time. Got the same results but was able to see the clock and tablet reboot options.
Guess it's not ready yet

Yep, same here, even with wipe dalvik and fix permissions, FC´s :S
Let us wait for a new update....
Alas, I ran across this on get.cm also. Got excited and then had the FC issues like everyone else. At least it is a step in the right direction.
Don´t know if its related,
lost my wifi hability after trying this, anyone else?
it just won´t turn on :S
Was just about to try flashing it until I saw how many people were unsuccessful. Oh well, guess I'll wait until an official release.

Not sure if it's related or not but my wifi on a Kanged version of CM9 is acting weird, disconnecting and saying out of range.
I tried this one first but it could just be the ROM I'm on.

i would like to see MIUI V4 on tab, as it will be easier to port than 2.x was ^_^
New official CM9 nightly on get.cm. It boots!!! Gonna test it and report back in a bit.
EDIT1: Wifi works and was able to log into my Google account. Currently restoring my Titanium Backup and will test a bit more after that. Also, camera makes the tablet reboot on first launch, but works after that. Odd. More info to come.
EDIT2: Face unlock is there, but doesn't recognize my face, so I can't test it out. It couldn't recognize my face on my Nexus S 4G either. Maybe my face is just derped up. Anyway, there is nothing that I could tell that is broken. Even the MicroSD mounted with no issue. I don't have a keyboard dock to test it out, otherwise I would. Games and videos both work fine.
I had my Original Nook Color Since the 1.0.1 days. I rooted it and had it running everything for over a year. I went through the early froyo days and PhireMod days ect.... Recently I been running CM7 via sdcard. Well I tried some stupid things with my boot loader and messed up both loaders on the uSD and emmmc. Anyways ... after reading close to 100 messages and following many many old broken links, I have finally (via adb) got my nook back to stock 1.0.1 and running.
I am tech savy and know a bit about linux. And a lot about how the nook works. But my mind is fried after all this. SO I am asking for some help. Like I said, I currently have a working nook running stock 1.0.1 (with old broken wifi even) So my router is wide open so I can have wifi that works on nook. Anyway Please advise me were to go from here.
I would like to get CM7 running again via my sd-card. I would also like to update to Stock Nook 1.4.1 (on emmc) (so I can use their new comic reader) but that is not my main focus. If I can do that and dual boot then fine. But my real goal is just to get back to CM7 nightlies.
Do I need to nooter again ? Can some kind sole please point me in the correct direction or just walk me through what I need to do... I am tech savy so you could spell it out quickly if needed. I do have adb working and I have 2 empty sdcards.
ANYTHING would help my brain from overloading LOL.
Thank you so much.
PS... I have helped many many many people over the last 2 years both here in the Nook world and in the ANdroid forums.
Peace

You have double posted and were answered on the other thread. You don't expect people to answer the same question twice do you? Or do you think they are different questions?
Eyeballer told you how to get to stock 1.2 in his guide. If you have wifi working, I would think it would update by itself from there.
The guide for making CM7 bootable SD is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12240928
And you don't have to root emmc to do it.

Regarding the thread "[ROMS]NEW! Dualboot Mirage CM7 / ICS CM9 Image for SDcard [3/26]" at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448186
The link to the downloads that the primary post refers to - http://techerrata.com/browse/nook/racks - hosts many files.
I am getting a new Nook Color and would like to know if http://techerrata.com/file/nook/racks/Mirage_CM7_ICS_CM9_DualbootSD.img.zip includes the latest updates; if not, which update files to download - and are they cumulative, or do I have to install each one in succession?
I searched for this info elsewhere and came up with nothing. Many thanks to anyone who would care to help.
Looks like .img is dated 3/04, so I'd do img and only add the latest CM7 and ICS, or Miui. The updates must be added to the "sdcard" partition of the sdhc card.
Smiley
Thanks - that does help. I'm still a little fuzzy, though, on whether I should download both OpenGL and non-OpenGL, both MIUI ICS and MIUI GB, and if I really do have to flash gapps after the rom.
Not sure about the others but the OpenGL and nonOpen Gl is an either or choice. The non seems to be the more stable.

Either MIUI replaces the Mirage 7.2 primary boot. The secondary boot can be either OpenGL or non-OpenGL. You have to reflash gapps everytime you update the ROMs.

Clarity is golden and scintillating. Thanks to you all. Now I've got to decide which ROMs are best for me. I see MIUI has a guest mode. Is something like that available in Mirage?
Read the OP in RACKS thread
The files to setup the CM7/CM9 SD card need to be modified so if you download eyeballer or samians updated you need to follow the directions here to have them work. I've had good luck with the non open GL builds the open GL builds would freeze up once or twice a day.

I've been using the openGL eyeballer builds since I got my NC about a month ago. Issues are no worse than any other custom ROM I've ever used. DL goomanager from the market and you can update to the nightlies every day (without any fuss). It's a bit slow, but considering that this thing was $90 (my cost) and 800mhz, I'm not complaining. I mostly just use it for books, email, chat, light games, and web browsing.
I am running the Dualboot Mirage CM7 / ICS CM9 Image. It was working well, but after the battery fell below operational threshold the nook will not charge or boot at all, it just displays the charge icon whenever I try to start it.
Right now I cannot use the nook at all.
Your call, you may not have any issues, but as awesome as the build is, if you have the same problem I do your nook will become useless.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

This is the third thread you have asked the same question. DON'T DO THAT!

I honestly hate to do this, because I know how we feel about post like this. I recently just bought a nook color with CyanogenMod-7.1.0-encore installed on it. I went into the Market to install a app & it crashed on me. So my question is, is the rom old, what is a good stable rom? Again I'm sorry for this post, thanks in advance for your response..

I don't have a personal opinion as I haven't used a successful rom myself, but after an unstable rom did a number on my NC (to which I have yet to fix), I have spent hours upon hours searching through these forums for answers and I am constantly seeing people suggest CM7. As for what was wrong with your nook, chances are the rom was already having issues when the previous owner passed it on to you, but without knowing what all that person did, there's no certain answer, just guesses.

CM7 is stable. You may want to use Titanium Backup to back up your installed apps, do a factory reset with CWM, and flash the newest CM7 ROM, which is 7.2 Stable. It was just released this weekend and you can find it at cyanogenmod.com. Also flash the latest gingerbread gapps, which can be found at goo.im. Then use Titanium Backup to restore your apps.
So can I just install it through Rom Manager?
Yes. Wipe dalvik and you should be good to go.

I highly recommend CM 7.2 mirage... Can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3977
It's fast, stable, has lots of configurable options, and has been my daily driver ROM on my nook since early December. Plus the developer is attentive and puts out new updates fairly regularly. Check it out and you won't be sorry!
I'd really love to install Nougat, but I know that LineageOS isn't ready for Nook Color yet. I'm stuck running Jellybean, and it's too outdated for my needs. I've been researching for hours with few useful leads.
Does anyone have advice?
