You dont GET it from anywhere..but you can always create one using the CWM recovery..
What to do:
1. reboot int recovery by holding the power, volume up and menu buttons together. This will boot you into stock recovery.
2. using volume down, highlight 'apply sdcard:update.zip', then scroll to the CWM recovery zip fileand then select by using the menu button (or where it would be).
3. you should now be in cwm recovery. Depending on which one you are using, the text will either be red or cyan in color. highlight 'backup/restore' using volume keys and select with POWER button.
4. select backup
The back up will start, and will take around 5-10 minutes to complete (depending on how much stuff you have in /data)
5. Once it is done, it will go back to the main cwm menu. Select 'reboot phone now' with power button.
you are done.
This is pretty simple and innocuous.:good:
P.S: HIT THE THANKS BUTTON..this step is mandatory!

Just flash stock rom via odin
If you haven't got a pc flash a custom stock based rom

[Help] What to do after rooting?

Hi all, sorry im an IT noob,
But after using alpharevx to s-off and nej's method, i've successfully rooted my phone..
Now what do i do nxt?
How to flash a rom?
IF possible someone give me a step by step guide pls thanks
You need to install clockword mod recovery first.
Then create a gold card.
You can then copy new ROM files to your SD card and then boot into recovery to install them.
This is very primitive, but let me know if u encounter any problems.
Google is your friend

Great.
Have u downloaded the custom rom.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Yeah I downloaded the latest one... from cyanogenmod website. What to do next?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Put that file in memory card.
Then reboot to recovery.
Then select option to do factory reset / wipe data / wipe cache / wipe dalvik cache.
Then select install zip from sdcard. Then select choose zip from sdcard. Then select ur file downloaded. That's all. Takes about 5min to install and 5min to 1st boot.
And in recovery mode, the trackpad should be used for selecting option. And power button for go back option. If u r stuck with an android picture then press power button.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Can you get to the recovery?
Flash it
And regarding cm7 also download google apps and flash in the same way.
And that's all for cm7 AFAIK. u don't need any extra kernels if u r a simple user. OC KERNEL is also inbuilt. Check cyanogenmod settings under settings.

Nandroid backup should be done before installing a custom rom. It is must if u ask me bcoz it clears many issues.
And titanium backup is for advanced users to be used after flashing a custom rom. Yes kernel might change depending on its presence in the custom rom. But don't worry. Custom kernels will be better than stock kernel.
Edit: Titanium backup can also be used before installing custom rom to backup contents. These contents can be restored after installing custom rom.

You can do a nandroid backup in the recovery.
Backup/Restore option if my memory is correct.
Then just click backup and wait a bit
Nandroid backup can be done from the custom recovery. Explore it and u will find it under nandroid. Takes 5 min to backup. A size if around 250MB on sdcard will be used.
And Google apps is a zip file around 10mb which can be flashed in the same way from the custom recovery as a custom rom flashing process.

You need a nandroid backup BEFORE flashing a rom, because that's like a system recovery image. If something goes wrong, you can still go back.

OK... that's actually, a good thing.
Now, I assume that you have cwm2.5 on your sd card, and one of the roms, correct? If not, put them on there, making sure that they are not in any folder.
Once you've done this, boot into recovery, and scroll down to the second option (apply sdcard:update.zp) and tap the "menu" key firmly.
Next go to "install zip from sd card" and use the power button to select.
after that, scroll to "choose zip from sd card" and select it with the power button
Then, find the rom, and select it with power button. Then "Yes"
After it installs, use the back key to back up to the main cwm menu and go to wipe cache and select it.
Then, go to advanced, select it, then wipe dalvik cache, and select ye on it.
After you have done all this, back up to the main cwm menu again and select 'reboot system now".
Get something to drink. It'll take a while on first boot. DO NOT PULL YOUR BATTERY!!
Ok went back into recovery and did wipe cache worked fine then tried wipe data/factory reset and got E:can't mount/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 (no file or directory ) E:install_application _for_customer :can't mount H IODENSDCARD then it says your storage not prepared yet, please use Ui menu for format and reboot actions

did you do this before or after you installed the rom? If it was before, I'd imagine it's because there was no rom on there to reset. Flash the rom, then reboot normally. Once it boots, then go back into recovery and try wiping.

If you have a nandroid backup, just restore it. If you were rooted when you backed up, you will be rooted again.
Factory reset - power up while holding Volume Down, then press Vol-Up and Vol-Down together when you see the little Android icon. This is stock recovery. Then select Wipe Data and cache. Yes you will lose all your data and apps.

You probably can't get into CWM recovery now (you are not rooted at the moment). When you see exclamation mark just press vol - and + simultaneously. Then you will get into stock recovery. Just wipe data from here (factory reset) and try again with rooting.

Only one note: as far as you have TB of your apps + data, you will be able to get them back after successful root.
If you need your sms messages, then backup them with any SMS backup app from GooglePlay
If you have your contacts synced with google account, they will be back after new sync.
It will take some time but most important data will be safe to restore.
And for next time: make a nandroid backup before any bigger changes in the system - then you will be able to get back quite fast with all system settings.
When resetting the system do not erase your SD card.
So sorry for bad news but probably resetting the system is now probably best step to do. If it doesn't work next step would be flashing of full sbf.

Then you loose nothing.
- Wipe data/factory reset
- try to root
- if successfull install 2nd init and restore from nandroid backup (all) - then you shall have a phone in a state that you had before
- if not successful, then give me your current kernel (settings>about phone) and I'll try to show you which sbf from a list I send in message should be the best. Then you will root it, install 2ndinit, restore nandroid backup or flash any CMxxx and restore from your TB backup.
