AOKP steves PUB build , with Faux Kernel and ECO mode turned on

Faux Kernel has a pretty good battery life. Didn't try another Custom ROM though

I used Faux before I switched to Trinity. I thought battery was pretty good on Faux, but people convinced me to try Trinity and it has even better battery life than Faux. Give Trinity a try

No it can't but even with 4 cores on, I still get amazing battery. What kind of battery are you getting on Faux? You have a quad-core monster, why make it dual-core when you can keep it at quad-core but have great battery life?

Yea dont get my wrong, i dont use ECO mode that much, only when i go out and i know im not gonna be near a charger for a day + ... otherwise i get around 5 hours screen on with all my stuff happening and a few games,
i will probably go to trinity one day, im really waiting for him to release that display app that hes teased!

I have only used AOKP with franco kernel and have been getting great battery life. May try Trinity or Faux to see if I notice a difference.

Best kernel for stock rom?

I prefer balanced battery and peformance. Please advice. Thanks
All kernels work differently for different people. Try a bunch and see what works.
-Brought to you by Marino's Nexus 7-
Franco kernel lets you overclock the gpu to what ever you want (416-750 and anything in between) so with that in mind you can create your own balance of battery vs performnce.
You cant overclock cpu but honestly it isnt needed.
Also with his latest release r25 th whol devive is much more responsive. Touchscreen etc.

thank's !!! i'll try it
Not massive on bechmarks and a big fan of Franco.
I cant tell any day to day difference in the performance between any of the kernels currently out however Matrix is giving me more batter life, (more screen on time) than the others.

ok, i wait and see when franco kernel will done !!!
I just flashed franco kernel myself with paranoid android. Going to see how it runs for a few days.
For those who have used matrix and franco extensively care to share your thoughts, pros/cons for each?
However, if you put any trust in Quadrant scores you could use them to prove that dancing naked for 5 minutes in your garden affects device performance

I am using Trinity. Love it so far.
Tried faux123, found it undesirable with current my settings.
Didn't want to commit to non-stock ROM for franco. Would love to try it though.
I'm on xylon ROM and matrix 3.0 kernel
My n4 battery life last so long that even my wife asked me to root her phone and make it last all day like mine....

The best nexus 4 kernel is the matrix kernel. Battery is fantastic and performance is stellar.

Running franco kernel and using my phone as I normally would during the day. I don't see any particular battery life savings. I think I will flash matrix tonight and see how it goes tomorrow.

Yes sir, franco also uses stock rom.
I have gotten the best battery from matr1x compared to Franco. I got 2 1/2 hr on stock, 3 hr 40 min on Franco and 4hr 40 min on Matr1x I'm still running stock otherwise but I think I'm gonna try experimenting with Roms tonight. Any suggestions I want to stay as close to a stock look as possible but I'm willing to bend for battery.

Are you using interactive as the governor? It is more tweaked than ondemand on Franco.

Yes I was using interactive but I only gave it about 2 days. I needed to probably give it more time. But I'm loving Matr1x at the moment. Thank u for your suggestions they are much appreciated

You must wait at least 1 week, in order to get the kernel settle in your phone..

Why do people say stuff like this? Do you need a week when you install a new operating system on your computer before it works normally?
No.

He tweaked it for interactive... Also each kernel has their sweet spot for every person... It's not the same for all.. Which takes time... Like a week

Kernel idle drain

Which kernel idles the best with least amount of battery drain out of faux and Franco? It would help a lot of us get a bigger picture with less bias lol. Thanks:thumbup:

All custom kernels with the wakelock fix have virtually identical rates of idle drain.
I've had 0-1% over night with Trinity, Franco & Matr1x. But, each phone & usage environment is different..
Really so now I've got to figure out whos kernel runs the smoothest and gives me a good screen on..
I'm testing harshes ATM its performing very nice indeed with cfx latest build

Try a kernel.
People have been getting good results with franco, motley, matrix, basically every kernel except for maybe trinity. I would suggest you try franco and motley first.
Flash a custom kernel it contains the msm wake lock fix that Google has not yet implemented in the stock build. I suggest Franco and to download better battery stats to ensure no wake locks and that your phone is deep sleeping

Well nevermind then. Just install any kernel.
That guy does have perfect signal though. I would just try one and if you dont like what you see try the nextone.

[Q] Recommended Kernel for Nexus 4?

I know with the SGS3 some of the bigger kernels were ktoonsez and lean kernel. What's good for the Nexus 4?

I've been using Matr1x kernel for quite some time now. It's the best I've used. I've tried Faux and Franco and those didn't work too well for me. Try them all out though and see what works best for you.

Franco's latest kernels have been very battery friendly. They're amazing. You do kinda sacrifice (albeit super tiny) performance though.
If you care about performance more, try Motley's. His kernels are reasonably battery friendly, but doesn't sacrifice any performance.
Trinity and Matr1x are my preferred kernels due to their speed and overall stability.
Battery go for Franco.
Hmm. I think I'm gonna try out Franco. I'm on the go a lot and battery life is a bit more important to me than performance. I wish the nexus 4 was more than a 2100 battery...

Yes to be honest Franco's kernel is the only kernel I'm confident with when I go out LOL
must say though the hunt for kernels has been remedied by google, for me at least. their 4.2.2 is insane. im getting 21.800 in antutu without touching the clocking frequencies. im getting 1-2 days of use and still 4-5 hours screen on. its reliable, it wont crash or screw up otherwise and best of all i dont worry about it, at all, its enough for me to settle and think of kernels no more. only thing that really bugged me on this plattform were the colors. but thats solved now. if you wanna try: http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/mako/ start with contrasty and see if you can live with the brightness, that one has probably the nicest colors that can be possible with this panel.
