First off, I'm running dirty aokp 3.5 (haven't had a chance to update it, may be the problem here) but a few days ago the lock screen went from the slide any direction to having the shortcuts so you can only slide it in one direction to unlock. Anyone know what the deal is? I really like the how the lock screen was...

The best I can tell you is to try a couple things. In CM 10/10.1 (AOKP is based on CM), you go to Settings -> Lock screen -> Slider shortcuts. This I know from experience with CM on my EVO LTE. Of course, this changes nothing in CM 10.1 if you have a pattern/PIN lock, as the slide shortcuts never show up.
On my completely stock (4.1.2) Nexus 7, you go to Settings -> Security -> Screen lock, where you can change it from Slide to None, Pattern, etc. Also, I noticed when I enabled the Slide unlock option that, even though the Google shortcut was at the top and the padlock was at the bottom, I could also slide to the left or to the right to unlock.
If none of this works, it's probably a bug in the ROM you're using and you should update to the latest version.

If you set a security pattern, then the custom rom's show that, instead of showing the lockscreen with data, and show the pattern only when you slide to unlock. That's how Sense does it.
Without that, what's the point of the lockscreen? You have to turn off security to make it useful.
Or does any Rom do it right?
The point of a lockscreen is exactly that. To lock the screen. If you set a pattern lock that becomes the lockscreen. Having to slide to unlock and then pattern unlock is redundant.

cm7
In cm7 you can adjust 2 layers of lockscreen settings... for example my Evo is a blank screen when locked.. you can draw on it any way you want but unless you draw the correct shape it does nothing... but that still doesn't unlock it.. I have it set so the gestures only turn on flashlight and sound.. etc... to actually unlock you have to press menu and then your greeted with a full keypad not just numbers...
sorry if its been discussed before but I can't find it anywhere via search.
here goes, during sgs' time with eclair, I recalled having set a pattern lock and when i turn the screen on, it would require me to slide to unlock first then proceed to pattern (similar to iphone set up)
nowadays on stock gingerbread rom, it no longer shows the main slide to unlock screen, instead it jumps straight to pattern/pin unlock screen. Reason I brought this up is that I did prefer the previous setup to see date, time and charge % left (also setting up a lockscreen wallpaper only works in the slide to unlock screen only)
does anyone know how to return it back to normal?
thanks

I'm pretty sure that it shows all that /(time, battery, date) and you could change the lockscreen wallpaper by going to : Settings > Display > Wallpapers and then Lockscreen Wallpapers....
Are you running stock ROM/kernel no EDT tweaks etc?
On my Juwe ROM the only problem I could find was that the lockscreen was transparent, thus showing the wallpaper you have on the homescreen instead of the one you have chosen in the settings.

Thanks for the quick reply, this came about on jvk then jvp rom, no tweaks etc
What happens is if i select no password required it shows the default lockscreen.
The moment i set up a pin or pattern lock, the lockscreen doesnt appear anymore, itvjumps straight to enterin pin or pattern screen, im pretty sure this happens to everyone else on stock gingerbread...
I use the pattern lock method and was wondering if there is one, or if someone can develop one where it doesn't show the trail as you move between the dots. I find that when it shows that trail, anyone within 15 feet can see your lock pattern.
So a mod where it's exactly the same Pattern Lock feature but without any green trails.
Or better yet, a completely invisible Pattern Lock screen!
I couldn't find anything on Market.
Wow I rock. Uncheck "Use visible pattern" in settings and that answered 1/2 my question.
With some of the custom roms like cm7 you can disable any sort of unlock widget and use a gesture to unlock. You can build any gesture you want. Swirls, squares, zig zags.
So when you go to your unlock screen it just has an empty screen with your background and you swipe around and unlock
From something awesome
Good Day Everyone...
Been running my nexus with cyanogenmod for about 5 months and its running like a charm....Normally my screen is protected by the pattern but Am trying to find a way if there's a tweak where both the slider and the pattern can be set.
I enjoy how the slider operates(the animation) but at the same time I'd want to lock it>> The way I imagine is if i slide it to a particular area then am presented with the pattern;

Swipe the clock widget to the right, then swipe back to the clock/unlock screen. Then you will be able to long-press on the clock and remove it. Then you'll see 'tap to add widgets' and you can choose the calendar.
Yeah, Ive tried that, It just does this lol.
Try it without Knock Code (with swipe).
Yip, Tried that ... Same thing ..
Trying to work out what the arrow at the bottom is for, it dont see to do anything.
I never even used to have the knock knock cope option, I updated my phone via the support tool, I have the knock know code but cant change the lock screen widget. I mean even when im on the lock screen i used to be able to swipe right to start the camera and now i cant even do that.
I'm thinking something has been changed in the update, Can anybody on the same build as me confirm they can still swipe from the lock screen to start the camera app and change lock screen widgets? ... Its definitely different than before.
Try using swipe lock screen and lock your device. Then wake the device. Swipe down on the clock. Then press and hold the widget. You should then have the ability to remove it. If you have no other lock screen widget, you will end up with a huge + giving you the option to add another widget. If this doesn't work (it should), reboot and try again.

It wont budge, Before if i had a pin code at the lock screen set i could just swipe the pin code area down, It then ask me for my pin, I could then long press the clock and a option to "remove" would be at the top of my screen, When the widget area was blank i would see a large + sigh, I could tap this and be given a number of widgets i could put there!
The clock just wont budge now no matter what i try!
Same Deal Here
Ever since the update, it seems I can't remove the default clock widget either. Swiping down does bring up the arrow (just as it used to) but it won't stay on long enough to long press the clock (as soon as you take your finger off it goes back to normal). I'm going to do some experimenting with WidgetLocker, see if I can't get it back to where I want it (obviously figuring this out would be ideal, but I'm starting to wonder if it's possible anymore. I've seen articles about enabling widgets, but haven't found what they're telling me to look for).
Edit: Got it figured out. It turns out I had somehow turned off the lockscreen widgets & disabled the feature through Secure Settings.

Don't know if you've been back to this thread but changing Secure Settings settings worked for me.
