[Q] Verizon Nexus 4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok guys, I'm almost sure this has been asked before and if so just link me to the post because I cant find it. I currently have the HTC Rezound and am seriously considering a Nexus 4, I cant quite seem to find a definitive answer saying weather the nexus 4 works on Verizon and if so how well. I thought it would work fine just have to deal with HSPA+ instead of LTE, I do live in the US not Canada (lucky bastards) so yeah, Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

Verizon runs off CDMA and the N4 does not.

No, the Nexus 4 WILL NOT work on Verizon's network. The Nexus 4 is a GSM Sim required phone.

Just get the Droid DNA. Its as close as you can get to a Nexus 4. But you can wait for the next nexus device coming out later this year. Rumor has it that it will work on all major u.s carriers.

Can the DX be connected to CDMA WS or QPST? If so I may be able to help flash to Boost. I have flashed many other phones (including verizon phones) but have not done a DX yet personally.
If anyone could get this going, that would be great!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
The Droid X cannot be flashed to GSM carriers such as ATT or T-Mobile.
However, the Droid X can be flashed to carriers such as Cricket via QPST and CDMA Workshop.
Edit: The Droid X also cannot be flashed to Sprint even though it is a CDMA carrier, they use conflicting radio hardware. So theoretically you could have voice and text, but not data.

It can, but you need to create a serial port for it using the program HW SERIAL PORT.

Bad idea. HW SERIAL PORT - is the hardest way. you just need to turn on the phone with camera button pressed and connect to PC. Then install the drivers from this topic for the device Diag Interface.

Sorry, but I live in Ukraine and in my country mobile operator is Intertelecom, CDMA UA, Peoplenet. And because of this I do not know what settings should be done for BOOS. I just described the way how easily connect your phone to the PC, to program the phone via QPST or CDMA Workshop.
I know all the needed boost settings, if you need help shoot me a pm

[Q] Nexus 7 Free Movie Error

Hi, ive just bought a Nexus 7 and gone through the initial setup and linked it to my google account. All seems to work fine apart from when i try to Play or Download the free movie (transformers 3), all I keep getting is a "Not available in your county".
Has anyone encountered this? Is there a fix? I live in the UK.
Many Thanks.
I get the same mate and I'm in the uk . It seems some get it and some don't. I didn't get the book either which I was looking forward to.

You could always root it and get a market switcher so it thinks you're in the united states.
EDIT: here is the market switcher

Would location spoofing work for them? Besides the app it has to be enabled in settings also.
I don't think root is needed for that.
I would also question whether or not the freebies are actually still available. I know that they stopped giving the $25 credit for new devices some weeks ago, perhaps they also stopped giving the movie and magazines as well? Just a thought.

Att lte confirmed

Hi, All, I know some of you are interested in Rogers Razr HD LTE, I have one which I will post pictures up and see if it works on ATT LTE. Also, I know some of you want to get one but dont know where. I have a source in Canada which is helping me. So I would like to gauge the interest and possibly get a group buy going. Price will probably be around $625 plus shipping to your place. To be determined.
In my other posted, I posted I got the unit for $575 shipped, I found out that my friend hooked me up with one of her friends employee discount.
Also, unit will be open to be sim unlocked only, otherwise brand new unit.
Please put all your questions here, so I can reply all at once instead of PM, also please let me know if you are interested by starting a list here, shipping should be about 1 week depending on how Hurricane Sandy is doing.
What about hspa?

Well that settles it. I'm getting one asap.
Rogers uses the same bands as AT&T. So it WILL get 3G, HSPA, HSPA+ and LTE.

There is no indication that the RAZR HD MAXX is coming to Rogers. Given that Rogers is not even advertising the RAZR HD, it would seem like it is a low volume model for them. I'd assume that the MAXX HD would be an even smaller seller for them if it came out - which leads me to believe that it would not.
I am interested
So we have, and get more Firmware for the RAZR HD

Straight talk questions

I bought a Straight Talk at&t SIM from eBay recently for use on my Nexus 4. I am going to be out of the country for three months. If I don't activate the SIM right away, can I activate it when I come back in three months?
Can I switch from plan to plan once I have it activated? Does it support LTE or HSPA+ speeds?
Much thanks!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Yes you can activate it in 3 months.
Straight talk (at&t) does not have lte use. However you will get H.

[Q] Sprint Galaxy S4 SPH-L720T LTE Triband Stock Firmware Root

As some of you may know, Sprint released a revision of the Galaxy S4 with the new ID of SPH-L720T (T referring to LTE Tri-band). Looking at the firmware versions, they are different than the non-tri-band SPH-L720.
I'm looking for rooted SPH-L720T stock firmware or a guide to rooting this tri-band version, but haven't had any luck.
I know the issues with CF-auto-root and the KNOX Counter with 4.2.2 vs. 4.3 thanks to everyone here. Now, I believe that the original shipped Andriod version is 4.2.2, but OTA will update to 4.3. Below I've listed the versions for both versions of the S4.
I haven't been able to find SPH-L720T 4.2.2 original firmware tar either (if it even exists). I'd be happy running rooted 4.2.2 or 4.3, but don't want to deal with the KNOX counter/no-triangle if I don't have to.
Any thoughts, ideas, or what it would take for me to dig further? Also, the SPTA vs. SPTE version prefixes don't seem to point to a tri-band or non-tri-band version.
I suspect since Sprint will be selling these going forward as their flagship with Spark, this will eventually need to be figured out. Any help would be appreciated...and I'm happy to research whatever I can.
Samsung L720T Firmwares:
Android 4.3:
- L720TVPUAMK5 / SPTAMK5 SPR USA Sprint - TF Mirror
Samsung L720 Firmwares:
Android 4.2.2:
- L720VPUAMDC / SPTAMDC SPR Sprint - TF Mirror - RG Mirror
- L720VPUAMF9 / SPTAMF9 SPR Sprint - TF Mirror - RG Mirror
Android 4.3:
- L720VPUEMJA / SPTEMJA SPR Sprint - TF Mirror
- L720VPUEMK2 / SPTEMK2 SPR Sprint - TF Mirror - RG Mirror
P.S. I have a rooted S2 stock 4.1.2, so I'm familiar with Rwilco12, one-click-ODIN and Mobile ODIN for kernels and modems.
I got my phone on the 20th of December how do I know of it supports Tri band lte or spark. The sprint rep said it will but I take that with a grain of salt. I do know I'm getting 30+ Meg dl in Bloomfield MI

Just picked up a used S4 for the wife, I forgot that Sprint was going to be releasing the "T" version and didn't think they would already be shipping them by now. Oh well, guess the wife will have to do with the original version.
I live in NJ and NYC is an official Spark city, but I can't get Spark on my Nexus 5 even thought I have enabled all the bands on my N5.

I have one on the way to me that I ordered from Sprint. I don't know if its true, but it seems like they're trying to sell all the old models in the retail stores and none of them have it in stock.
Well the tech and sales team swears the 720ud has spark capabilities however I know it can't because it doesn't connect to the 2500 my spectrum but on the box it shows for bands of lte starting at 800

Yeah me too. As this thread was being created, I was at the Sprint store in upstate NY, blissfully unaware of any of this. As it happens, I got the "T" version, although I'm still not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. I expected to come home, google XDA SPH-L720T ROOT, and have this thing rooted and flashed to the newest CM11 nightly in 20 minutes. Alas, all I have found so far is frustration and sadness.
Yea sorry about that! I did a Web search and seems nothing has popped up about rooting yet not sure any of the developers have one yet. If they do they either haven't figured out how to root it or haven't shared with us

Seems unlikely. These guys usually share selflessly, and get stuff out there really fast. That was the basis for my confidence when I came home and flopped down in front of my computer to do this. Still looking. But also doing 20 other things. If I find something definitive, I'll post it here.
I suspect it won't be much different than rooting the MJA or MK2 firmware. From the stock ROM, on L720T, it looks mostly to be a modem and kernel update.
Plus, Sprint will be selling these going forward. Honestly, I'd be happy if I could get stock rooted simply to be able to do nandroid and titanium backups.

Hello, I have noticed the postings about the new Sprint "T" Version of the S4.
On my box it states "SPHL720BKK"
Is this a new model or old one? I have had the phone about two months now.
I am looking to improve my data speed and connectivity to the towers. My phone goes from LTE to 3G very often.
I am on SAC's Custom Rom 4.3
The Build is L720VPUEMK2
Android Ver. 4.3
Is there something I can do to improve this?
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thank You in Advance

Look under settings/ about device, where it gives the model. If it has SPH-L720T, it's the new one. If no "T" at the end. Old one. No idea how to fix it except to cry to Sprint and see if you can get a new one out of them. Good luck.
Dang, no "T".
This is getting frustrating.
