Stable for me, but still slower than CM7.2.

Sometimes (quite rarely) it reboots (eg. when I connected to Wifi), and sometimes there was an annoying bug, that the ringtone did not play when got an incomming call. Maybe it is fixed now.
The free ram is not so much as on CM7.
And after 40 hours, the phone needs a restart, because it gets laggy, and makes some bugs, like in lockscreen.

Will Cyanogenmod 7.1 be much better? Or is there any smooth roms to recommend?
Relly tired of flashing my x8, I want to make sure before this again...

I am tempted to try it out.
Sorry, but I just want to clarify.
The rom you are referring to is this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973753 , right?

Try GingerDX, fast, smooth, bugless, and packed with lot of features!
Personally I've found cyanogenmod 7.1 has a few very VERY irritating bugs AND is incomplete.
Problems myself and others have had:
In call volume is too low, barely able to hear people in call.
Network issues - after 5-15 minutes of use (e.g. using market place, browsing the web, etc...) the connection whether it's 3G or WiFi simply refuses to load any web content.
Some features incomplete (camera functionality amongst others)
Essentially this rom/kernel combination being labelled as stable must be a mistake, as it is not stable. Generally speaking it isn't useful for day to day use. It is however very speedy.
Noo, it is very slow! All 3D games lag + scrolling is KINDA slow.
FXP rom 028 have normal in call volume. FXP030 and CM71 have bug there.
I`m using 028 rom and CM71 kernel - not have wifi troubles, games works nice. Not using camera and FM radio, so it is not trouble for me that they are not working yet.
But it is stable and fast, not have any FCs, lags or reboots.
Any one has the fxp 28 kernel? please share us.

experiences with CM9.0.0

I know it is not differnet than the fxp builds but it is the official final version so it should be good. I am flashing it right know, when its finished i will share my experiene. Has anyone tried it yet?
Okay what i can say for know is that its awesome. Everything (not xperia play related) is working fine and even the performence seems to be a little better. Not as good as CM10 but better.
Just flashed it a while ago, and currently those games like Bruce Lee and Crash Bandicoot doesn't work. I think the kernel is the problem (maybe?). Currently, the kernel flashed here is the freexperia one.

No, it's the game not the kernel. There is a gamepad fix (that fxp nor cm ever put it) that fixes some games, but there will always be some games that will never work past stock (aosp based roms) and since devs have no access to that source they won't be fixed
Has CM9 reached the speed of CM7 yet? The last time I tried it was FXP128 and it's just SO SLOW in comparison to CM7. Opening apps happens lightning fast on cm7 and takes a fair while on CM9. Even thing like opening the recent apps popup takes far too long on CM9. Is any of this improved?

Well, it will never be as fast as gb because it's a huge ram hog, but it is in no way slow at all. cm10 is coming along nicely, so you could wait for that if you like

I too thought it was something to do with RAM but the avail. RAM reported in CM7 is around the same as CM9. CM9 said 353 and CM7 says 357.
I took this from "about phone" in the settings, I'm assuming that's available RAM AFTER system use so I don't think RAM is causing the speed issue.
I don't know, but I don't like the CM9. CM10 is much faster and has higher/smoother FPS.
For me:
CM7 vs CM9: CM7 win.
CM9 vs CM10: CM10 win.
CM7 vs CM10: CM7 win for Gaming, CM10 win for Appearance + Features.
Just sharing my thoughts
Data not working for me. Tried both stable as well as the latest nightly. Anyone else facing this problem?

Nope. Work for me. I used stable and RC.
Bad, the WiFi issue pisses me off (few days of usage) then I get the WiFi loop, I avoid CM9 based roms now, I'm using CM10.

[Q] Defy ROM's

Hi, to be honest, my Defy+ isn't rooted, but at some point of this year (or next by sure) I will, and I will install a ROM in a really short period, so, i want your recomendation, what ROM should i choose? I don't want any theme or nothing, i'm choosing: CM7, CM9 or CM10, CM10 by that time will be improved, so it's practically CM7 or CM10, it's obvious that CM10 is better (JellyBean, duh ), but from what i heard, it uses a lot of RAM and performance is "Good-Meh" so I don't know if go to CM10 for JellyBean, CM7 for performance and gaming or multiboot both... (Answer me like if I were rooted, I want to do it but... I will see if I hurry me)
Sorry for bad english

I will go for CM 7.2, the last stable build works very smooth, opening apps, scrolling, etc, you must flash a camera fix for this build, replacing the Camera.apk and the overlay.omap3.so.
For sure the CM10 is a attractive choice, but in my opinion isn't more smooth than CM 7.2 yet, you have some features in Jelly Bean like Google Now, and some UI improvements, for example in the notification bar, where you can read messages, call contacts, etc, the called Project Butter, and more, so if you are a smooth paranoic i recommend CM 7.2, if not, give CM 10 a chance!

Thanks for the fast and complete answer, I think I will get CM7 and wait, because i'm in stock ROM, and I sometimes get reboot for bad RAM usage and it's SOOOOO SLOOOOW, so I think I will use CM7 at least for a while, thanks

And i suggest you to use CM 7 with the Launcher Pro, it will change you Android experience totally.
the best rom for daily use is Ms2ginger 4.0 ...... stable , fast , has the best battery back up , high quadrant , 720p and paronama .
After testing several roms on my phone (and friends defys :silly "close stock" roms works better
Thanks :highfive: maybe I will try them three (Ms2ginger, CM7 and CM10) because id I flash one my "fear" of flashing will be gone and that way I can compare, but I think that for stable at least in a period of time will be Cm7 OR Ms2ginger, i will wait for  Master Quarx  to fix a couple of bugs before staying in CM10.

[Q] CM9 or CM7 for performance gain?

I've been using Quarx's CM10 build on my Defy+ for the past few days and whilst it's extremely stable and relatively fast, the performance is not quite fast enough for everyday use for me. I was considering instead installing CM9 or CM7, but not having installed either of these previously, I was not sure which would be best. I would prefer to go with CM9 if the performance is significantly better than CM10, but if not perhaps CM7 would be a safer choice? Any other suggestions to increase performance on CM10 would be appreciated also.
In my opinion CM10 is way more faster than every cm9 build i used.
so if you want to increase stability and performance, use CM7
CM7
I've used CM10 but my device was running slow, I've installed CM7, never used CM9.
newest CM10 from Quarx is faster than speeding speedy gonzales!
got 3147 points in AnTuTu. CM10 is more responsive, and with right launcher (like nova or apex) works like a charm

Trust me. CM10 is better. CM7 might be a little better, but I think by the next two update, Quarx will make CM10 just as good..
So I suggest you stick with this for a week or two and decide.
I have only one phone and I use defy for everything. I run CM10.
Thank if I was helpful.
Cheers

Why do you want JB rather than KitKat? Both CM11 and SlimKat are already significantly faster and more stable than CM10 or SlimBean, in my opinion. I've been using SlimKat 4.0 for a couple of months with no major issues. It's not quite as fast as CM7 (due to the increased RAM requirements of KitKat compared to Gingerbread), but it's much faster than any of the Jellybean roms. See my guide here for tips on installing, customizing, and improving the performance of SlimKat and CM11.
try slimkat as mentioned above. That's what i use daily and its stable enough.
OT: But cm 7.2 is still (significantly) faster and More stable than eg slimkat for the daily usage? Is that right? From your experiences...

CM7 is still slightly faster than SlimKat, in some respects. For example, when pressing the power button to wake the screen, on CM7 the screen comes on almost instantly, while on SlimKat there is a 1 second delay. Some apps also start and run slightly faster on CM7, probably because of more available RAM.
On the other hand, SlimKat is slightly faster in other respects. In particular, the wifi speed is significantly faster on SlimKat, at least in my experience.
In terms of stability, it's difficult to say. Both CM7 and SlimKat seem perfectly stable for me; no significant problems whatsoever. However, some users still report having issues with bluetooth, wifi authentication, and telephony layer problems.
