Does anyone have a problem with pressing 'back' but the same page reloads?
For example, when I web browse, if I press back once or twice, it simply reloads the current page. I end up having to spam the back button and it'll go back 2+ pages which gets frustrating.
Anyone know a fix to this?

Probably your ad blocker. Some pages will resend new ads constantly, urbanspoon comes to mind.

It happens with both the stock browser and Dolphin. Maybe I'm not using it correctly, but everytime I long press the home button to bring up the active apps and select the browser, I'm expecting to see the last page/position I was on. Well, the annoying thing is that both browsers go back one page. how do I stop this? Not sure if it happens all the time.
I think this is an Android bug. It happens frequently if you launch a webpage from another program (like the News Widget) and then long press to go back to the browser.
Try going to home and launching the browser via home screen icon or all programs icon.
Hey. That works! Thanks. I knew that it didn't happen all the time. Couldn't figure it out tho. LoL. Thanks for the quick reply! I'm gonna have to reset my habit now.
not rooted and on the latest update
Ive noticed that there are times when i hit the back button on the browser, it will take me back 2 pages instead of the previous page.
Say for example im on google's home page. I look something up, find and click a link.. once i hit the back arrow (either on the browser app or tablet arrow), it will take me all the way back to the google home page..
anyone notice this before? am i missing an option?
thanks
Ive noticed recently sometimes when using the softkey home, back or menu I sometimes need to press them 2 or more times.
For instance dolphin browser sometimes if you had scrolled down thn back button would just return where you were, so you would need 2 or more backs to actually go back a page.
With this softkey issues combined with dolphins inherent behavior i habe neess to press back 8 or more times to actually go back. I had to set up aswope left gssture in dolphin to force a previous page.
The touch screen can be either unresponsive, or too responsive in certain situations. It's a little frustrating sometimes, especially when I'm trying to show people how cool the device is, only to press something accidentally, or have to press something multiple times.
So, you're not alone in your pain! I think there are a few posts on here that mention the same thing.
Ya I've noticed this as well especially when in a game app when trying to exit, I have to hit it several times, I think it is more of a software issue, hopefully Amazon will fix it in a future update, I've already sent some feedback to them about the issue. Perhaps if enough people send in some negative feedback, Amazon will respond.

I've noticed this as well; it's very picky on how it wants to be pushed. You have to know how to push it's button to get it to do anything, much like a woman.
Yep, same problem here.
Same thing here. I'm glad I'm not the only one. My worst seems to be the back button, followed by the menu button. My home button almost always works.
Hopefully custom ROMs will fix this.

I've noticed that it mostly does this with amazon's own bits. Update would fix it.

Ok so its not just me. I know my aim is good because at angle I see it highlighted then normal after I release. But yes back the most then menu. Home I think has worked first touch.
Side note ive also had issues sometimes when tapping an area to type in that after 3 or 4 letters the keyboard auto hides. Typing urls and google searches
Oh wow, google wasn't known word for default keyboard.
Anyone had any problems using drop down menus while in the browser. For instance when asked to select a country in your profile settings. Mine will popup the selections then it immediately disappears. After it goes away the drop down menu becomes unresponsive. This has happened on multiple web pages including this forum and other sites such as auto trader and a few auto parts web sites that I visit. It is frustrating having to get off the couch and use my pc .

If you pinch to zoom out and see the whole page is the menu still not there?
The back button soft key should bring it back to responsive.
What browser are you running?

None of the above work to solve this problem. I am using the stock chrome browser. Again when you click on the menu normally the selection screen pops up. In my case it pops up then immediately goes away. The menu "button" becomes highlighted but doesn't do anything when pressed. You can hit the back button on the browser or on the tablet and go back to the web page. When you return the "button" is still highlighted and unresponsive.
So on my note 4 long pressing the home button opened up the Google application. Now with the v20 though it opens up an overlay. However, about half the time or more that I long press the home button, the overlay doesn't open or it immediately closes or when I try searching for something it randomly deletes everything I've typed and closes my keyboard. Does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?
The overlay was a change introduced in Android 6 and later called Google now on tap. As far as the issues you speak of I can't say that I have any problems with the way the app works at all. Perhaps it could be attributed to use error. Could it be you don't fully know how now in tap is supposed to work and what makes it different than the older push to open Google now shortcut on Android before Android 6?
I suggest a quick "Google" for Google now on tap so that you understand what has changed and how it exactly is supposed to work.

@EROMITLAB No, I'm fully aware of how it works and how to use it. I was also aware of why the overlay was changed. I'm not attempting to use the now on tap portion, nine times out of ten I'm only ever trying to quickly get to Google and perform a basic search and the white square will appear around the end of the screen as if it's going to open or when I go to search it will just close. Yes, definitely user error. How could I ever be so foolish as to not know how to use Google. Clearly I'm the reason the app won't load or even occasionally pops up with a force close.

No need to mock me I was honestly just trying to help. There are occasional post from folks in here who aren't as tech savvy as the majority of people in these forums. Sorry you felt disrespected or insulted.
Anyway no I don't have these issues at all with the V20. Sorry about your luck.

Hmm, just tried it out and it works like it should for me. On a Tmo V20.

I have the same problem. It's definitely not just you! Although, mine never force closes and always opens the overlay search box, it ALWAYS closes out my search after typing a few characters, and then I have to start again. Frustrating.

Hey, I just tried something and it's an acceptable workaround for me. Hold down the home key until the overlay search box appears and wait a few seconds to let it calm down. Then tap the menu button at the bottom right corner of the screen and choose Settings. Now toggle off the first menu item to disable Now On Tap.
Once that's done, long-pressing the home key will launch the standard Google application, and you can start typing immediately without getting kicked out.

I get the same issue when trying to type into the Google Now on Tap. I'll begin typing then after a few seconds the keyboard will disappear along with what I typed in. I've seen one person say that it was Nova Launcher and once they switched it, the issue was gone. That did not work for me.

Dude, just do what I suggested in the post directly above yours. Turn off Now On Tap and you're all good.
