[Q] Crazy battery consumption - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I bought 2 days ago the u8800 pro... It had 2.2 android and I upgraded it successfully to 4.0 and also did all the extras (used the patched services.jar, used the build.prop with tweaks and unlocked the fps).
Since I will only use this phone for 1 month max and then sell it I just installed my basic apps: Opera,Swiftkey,Kik messenger, adaway, xda app, maildroid, battery widget app and go sms). I did see that battery was getting too quick low so I tested it like this: Closed 3G/Wi-Fi/GPS, fully charged it, calibrated the battery and then I slept so the screen was off. When I woke up (9 hours after) the battery was 87%. Is this normal for this phone?

Well, if its new it shouldnt go down so fast. I have mine for a year and a half and it's working pretty much like yours. When you bought it, did you charged it for about 5-6 hours?

Happens to me too dw. Its the garbage battery sensor which underestimates the charge.

Worst battery life ever

and

with phone idling all day, battery went dead and phone shut off within 8 hours of full charge... wtf?!?

I've also noticed that with the latest CM's battery life is an issue for me. Ive got KoR roms to last almost two full days but cm is dead within 20 hours.
My battery life has changed as well and I now have to keep my travel charger and car charger with me at all times or suffer with a dead phone.
i had been running rc3 with the 8-19 kernel, and my battery life was similar to stock, but the combination of latest CM and wildmonks are just killing me... i think im going to go back to rc3 with the 8-19 kernel.
Check the active processes. You can't drain the battery in 8 hours unless you have a process stuck, using 100% CPU constantly (possibly Exchange?).
good thought, but im not an exchange user... i cant seem to isolate the issue. im going to do a full wipe and try stock to see if maybe i have a bad battery.
People with battery life issues should try Enom's ROM with a wildmonks kernel. I'm 18 hours in of a full charge and I'm at 76%. That's normal use with full screen brightness, wifi and gps, quite a few background updating apps, etc.
Over 50% of power usage should be the display under even moderate usage.
With wifi, push, and poll active, the battery drop per hour with the screen off should be less than 1%.
If it's higher than that, you need to find the rogue process or get rid of an automatic task killer.

Display is most of my usage with over 50% every time. I have one app that auto updates in the background, Twitter, and thats every half hour. I do have 3g on but with wireless on most of the time. GPS, Autosync, and Auto-Brightness is on. I play one game twice a day, World War, once in the morning, once at night, but both times are usually on the charger.
Now that I think about it, Im a part of latitude but maps/latitude never consume battery according the about>battery.
Either way CM6 full charge starting at 4am, with light-moderate use, will be dead at like 5pm. I can go almost 2 days on a single charge of KoR rom. Enoms rom I have tried and lasts a full day +some...

I have the same issue and have had it since RC2. I can deal with it since I have the desktop dock at work, the car dock, and two wall chargers at home. The drain is pretty noticeable -- after about 30 minutes of the phone being off the charger and left alone with screen off, the battery charge is at 94% with "Display" using 65% of that. Wifi/BT/GPS off.
Like I said, it's not a big deal right now because I have chargers everywhere, but it's really annoying. I'm still searching for the fix, but if I can't find it, back to MCR for me.
I tried CM for 1 week and I must say the extra glitters is not worth the poor battery life., only lasted 1 day if used moderately. I just switched back to FRF91 Stock Rom today, lasts me 2days if used moderately. Longivity of the battery is another long term concern people should think about. I still miss my modded dialpad with big buttons, cool trackball colors and many more, CM is such a TEASE!
What kind of battery life are people getting with Pershoot's latest? It's undervolted, so it should do pretty well.

Tried Enom? I've seen zero difference in battery life, perhaps slightly better, since switching to it from stock Froyo on my N1.
In the battery use screen, what's draining the battery with the screen off? Let the phone drain like 10% with the screen off the entire time after unplugging.
several recent nighties and cm6.0.0 seem to have something broken.. Four hours of standby after full charge and the battery level already @ 83%.
cell standby 32%; idle 29%; display (wtf was turned off all the time) 28%.
Drains twice as fast compared to older CM roms..
The LEDs are also considered the Display by the battery meter.
Still, 17% in four hours is enormous. I guess I'll have to hold off on CM6 until they sort this out.
Dicks! 4% battery drain in one hour with almost no use, and that's after flashing pershoot's undervolted kernel. No way.
I'm going to try wildmonk's kernel now. :/

[Q] Battery Life so far?? Report!!

Hey new myTouch 4G owners. I know your loving your phone so far but I and many others want to know one thing. How is your battery life so far? Compared to your previous phone?? and have it manage a day through your heavy usage yet?
Thanks!
P.S: if you can, report your "display" on time or just take a picture of "battery use" ..
I use the "Battery Left Widget". It's about 80% calibrated right now, reporting that my full battery life (based on my usage) is roughly 15 1/2 hours.
Having used the same widget on the Nexus One, I'd say it's pretty much right in line with what I was getting there.
Hmm I guess no great battery life then?
I must say though that my phone probably isn't the best representative for battery life... Reception here at work is weak, causing the phone to boost it's power output.
When I am at home, I get much better battery life.
I picked my phone up on the morning of launch and I'm still on my first charge (15% left). I've used it for calls, texts, pictures, videos, apps & widgets and I installed the ota update. I've had great battery life so far.

Mine only came about 60% charged.
So far my battery has been the best of any android phone so far (Nexus -> G2 -> MyTouch 4G). I have about 10 sync accounts going (2 gmail, facebook, rss feeds, etc) and with moderate use I have 40% or so at the end of a day. Screen is on auto, quite usable in any light.
Wow..not bad..so what are your display on time saying? It's in the battery use section, click on display.
guess not then
my battery is ****. I had to charge it half way through the day, but I'm an android noobie and lookin to get this thing going easily a whole day hopefully.
my battery life is ok. doesnt last the whole day for me but i text a lot make some phone calls and download apps and play games like assassins creed and nova.
The battery will need a few charging cycles to reach its full potential. I'd recommend fully discharging and fully charging it the first few times (and every so often after a few weeks of use). You probably won't get the most representative results on day 2 after launch. Was the same for my Nexus and G2

Oh ok i will have to try that out. I usually charge my phone when it gets down to 20 percent. But i left it fully charge over night
Mine seems about 4 hours shy of my G2.
My weekdays are 20hrs on G2 and about 16 on mT
Weekends are about 12 hrs on G2 and about 8 on mT
Amazing in terms of any other android phone I've owned.. Without a task killer

For some reason when it's rooted it lasts longer. If I don't root it the battery goes fast.
myTouch4G (Glacier)
i fully discharged when i got the phone and charged it over night. I went to an air show today and unplugged it around 9. its now 10 and i still have 25% left
(i uploaded pics to my blog and facebook, made calls, got text, checked football scores, and used google maps)
i'm impressed. Way better then when i had my EVO
everyone is giving answers as either "my battery life is great" or "my battery life sucks" but that doesnt really say anything... your battery life is gonna be amazing if you dim the screen to zero and dont use data :/ its all gonna be on how you use the phone and everyones gonna use the phone differently...
bottom line... the answer to this question just has to many variables
I am happy with battery life so far... while not analytical, I am getting as good or better tham MTG3. I was able to play Monopoly for an hour and the better was still 3/4.
I bought the MT this past Wed and when I bought it, the level was at about 40-50%. I was messing around with it, adjusting it and it lasted for a good 3-4 hours with the factory charge.
I let it die then fully charge and removed it from the charger. That charge held from 5am all the way until 1am the that late evening with regular use. It died and again I did a charge and disconnect.
I have done this same cycle for the last 3 days and right now. I can consistently keep a high charge for the most part of the day with average use. I disconnected the charger this morning at about 1 am, and here I sit now at 945pm with still over 75% charge.
Seems like this phone really likes the power cycles right now. Full to dead, recharge then remove until dead...etc.
Since Wed afternoon, I have charged my phone only 3 times since purchase, and right now it is Sat night. This is with average use, brightness set about 25%, auto sync only for email, weather, tmobile and no task killer used
You must remember this phone is using a powerful 1Ghz snapdragon, with a small battery. By default android uses the governor called ondemand, in other words it automatically shoots up to max freq during use. But once the 4G is rooted, you can use SetCpu to make changes, tmo will probably make an update though to address the issue. I can't really see extended batteries being made to small without needing a new back. I'm considering the 4G, I currently use both phones in my sig, my slide can get 2 days max, my G1 around 10hrs. It all depends on how you use the phone.
tips:
-turn down brightness
-turn off gps/Bt/wifi
-switch to 2g/3g/H depending on signal
-dial *#*#4636#*#* to modify radio settings(2g/3g/etc)
-turn off background updates(twitt/fb/flickr/etc)

Anyone having batterys problems like us?

Anyone having battery problems? My wife and I have pros and can hardley get half a day out of it... does this phone need a task killer? I havent used a task killer since my hero. But maybe this one needs one. any ideas? my fascinate holds a charge more than this and it does 10 times the amount in the backround and the batterys arent that different. Thanks
Pretty disappointed with the battery life too. Barely make it to the afternoon. I just constantly plug the phone in. Considering buying the extended batt if it wasn't 50 bucks.
I also switched from the fascinate.

My battery life is OK, but I'm constantly fiddling with the phone: checking facebook, answering work emails, browsing the web and the Market, etc.
However, my partner's phone made it through a 16-hour day with 40% still left of battery. Granted, it was on standby for 6 hours at work, but the rest of the time was constant facebook, etc.
There are a number of "Power Management" tweaks that can be performed that will dramatically improve battery life. Things i have done include:
device rooted via z4root (this has no direct impact on battery performance but necessary for things that do...)
Screebl Pro
SetCPU (throttle down to 300 when screen off)
AutoKiller Memory Optimizer
Uninstalled or frozen a bunch of stuff i don't use via Titanium Backup (there is thread in this forum that discusses what can be uninstalled/frozen)
Changed phone radio from global to cdma
I have also added an extended battery. I can easily go 12+ hours with heavy data/email and voice use.

these are all great ideas. however, most of the reviews are bad on the Screebl Pro and all of its other versions.
I just received mine yesterday. Gave it a full charge last night. Now, at not even 11am, it's down to 60%. That's after three hours of light usage. Hopefully this is just a battery calibration issue or something since this is the first time it's been fully charged...
Edit: 10%. That's 90% depletion in just five and a half hours. We'll see if it's lying or not.
Edit: The Droid Pro was pronounced dead at 1:48pm, exactly 6 hours of very light usage after its first full charge. We'll see what happens on its second cycle.
Hi All
I have to say my battery is great. Can make it the entire day even with heavy usage.
However, you need to be really careful with the background apps you are running.
In my case
1) Bluetooth off
2) Wireless Off
3) Set CPU running - scaled to 300 when screen off and scaled to 300-600 when battery hits 50%
4) Running IMO messenger at boot (I tried Ebuddy and it sucked down the battery big time) IMO does not.
5) Cleared most of the default widgets and only added the few that I really use.
6) Running Go Launcher instead of default launcher (not sure if this helps battery or not)
7) Running CDMA mode only when I am in the U.S. (turned off global setting)
8) I get LOTS of emails daily (over 150) so the phone is constantly pulling in.
Hope this emails helps others.
When I first got my Pro a few weeks ago I was ready to send it back due to poor battery life. Decided to give it a little more time, and the stock battery was netting me at least 12 hours of moderate to heavy usage. Ordered the extended battery and had the same issue of it draining the battery insanely fast. Again, I gave it a few more days and now I'm finding myself charging the phone maybe once every two days. All in all, just give it some time -- it'll surely get better, just hang in there!
Day two: Seven hours in, and my phone is down to 20%. Better than yesterday (dead in 6 hours), but then again I used it much less today, and I removed all but 1 widget from my desktop.
Edit: Dead at 4:20. 7.5hrs today. This is garbage.

Try and hold out for a week. My Dream and Milestone took about a week before they were useful. If its not useful after that then you might have to trade it in or get a different type of phone.
Android is not known for its great battery management but you should be able to make at least a typical 8 hour work day imo.
I've stated in many threads in many forums now, the battery life with the "Out of the box" setup is just horrible. No way around it, it just sucks. The stock battery is the same one that came with the original Droid last year. The Droid 1 is a 600 Mhz stock phone. Our Pro is a 1 GHz beast. The stock battery in our phone is just inadequate.
I wouldn't be surprised to see an update in the near future to resolve some of the issues we are seeing though. It's obviously the biggest complaint with the phone. However if you are willing to root you can get the phone to somewhat reasonable battery life.
I've really only done a few things but am seeing a vast improvement. Stock settings with my usage gives me about 4 hours then I'm dead in the water. Now I get about 7 hours and I'm literally doing something on my phone all the time so I'm completely pleased with that.
My main things:
Root and remove the bloat. Play with the phone a couple of days, find out what apps you'll never use then get rid of them.
Get a different launcher, either Launder Pro or ADW.
Buy SetCPU and set profiles for:
Screen off = 300 MHz
Battery < 70% = 800 MHz
Battery < 50% = 600 MHZ
Change wireless mode from Global
That's it for me. If I used my phone like a normal productive Human I could get a full day easy, but again its literally always in my hands, so 7 hours I am very pleased with. That's about as long as my old Curve got me. After that I just slap my spare battery I always have in my back pocket in and I'm good to go with only 2 minutes downtime, as opposed to the 15 minutes down with any Blackberry battery swap.
That's my 2 cents, take it for what its worth. My biggest battery gains came from SetCPU, and to be honest I really can't tell a difference in performance when it throttles me down.

Which extended battery? Do you need a new battery cover?
This guy is selling his Droid Pro for $500 with extended battery.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Motorola-DROID-...0741502439?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item3a615bb1e7
The battery life on this device is very low. I ordered my extended battery here on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150532539861
I like that is has an original backing and there is no noticeable bulge.
Verizon is selling extended battery for $50+tax with free overnight shipping.
I got lucky. The seller has since revised his listing to NOT ship outside the united states. Its a shame for all those who've purchased their phone for use outside of the usa.
Well I have to contradict my last post. I burned through 2 1/2 standard batteries Sunday during a 16 hour day at work. I decided to break down and purchase the extended battery.
I bought it yesterday and threw it in my phone last night before I put it on the charger for the evening. Today I'm very surprised to see I'm still sitting at 40% with the phone being off the charger since 8am this morning (10:46pm now.) So 12.75 hours on just the extended battery, I'm thrilled. I would almost say this battery would net me more time than 2 fully charged standard batteries.
I bought the Shell/Holster combo at VZW when I bought the phone. I could not get the shell to fit over the extended battery back without modification (as I've read elsewhere). However, I threw the shell in my oven for about 10 minutes at 200, and the plastic was pliable enough to wrap the phone. It then cooled down and now fits great. A little snug, but it functions perfectly (actually fits better in the holster IMO). I would highly recommend the extended battery. I can see why everyone is saying great things about it now..
The salesman at the VZW store got me 25% off for something (Forgot exactly why I got the discount) and they had one in stock. So I would definitely encourage those to go to the store 1st before buying online. (The salesman, who was a manager, said the only reason they had them in stock was because their store has sold so many of the Pro's).
the has gotten better since we got em but i thing i found which seems kind of weird is im getting better battery life with my screen brightness all the up and my battery manager set to performance
I just got my extended battery in the mail yesterday. I am noticing a huge improvement in battery life with the droid pro. The annoying thing is the back for some reason does not "snap" into place properly. Not too sure why, but putting a piece of folded paper underneath the cover seems to have done the trick.
To anyone seeking to further extend their battery life I recommend getting the extended battery from verizon. If that is still not enough you can buy the Energizer USB rechargeable battery and go from there...

Remove all apps you don't need. Install wakelock detector to see what is consuming battery on your device Then disable them using greenify or servicely . You can also run this script http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/guide-reducing-google-play-services-t3139032 .
Remove extra bloatware , avoid using wifi , reduce screen brightness .. or go back to kitkat.
I would rather suggest to change your battery dude, 2 years for a mobile battery is more than enough.
Only apps was installed on my device is WhatsApp, facebook, Instagram and Greenify.
Yesterday I downgrade to KitKat and the battery very bad (Cloudy 2.2)
Same problem here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/lg-g2-d802-battery-draining-5-0-2-t3256313/
I also got bad battery life with all LG lollipop rom and stock kitkat , but I get terrific battery life with cloudy g2 2.2. Like 6.5 hours of SOT. Just make sure you clean flash and reduce background app by clearing recent apps.
Are there any apps that show the battery Wear level

6.5 hours?!?! Are you sure?
1.5 to 2 hours of SOT is the most I can get out of my two-week-old G2.
I bought is from a "mobile shop" on aliexpress.
Yes, it is refurbished... ,it looked like brand new on the outside.
... however, when I disconnect it from the charger in the morning (7 am) a few hours, and a few phone calls later it is already at 85%
at noon there is 65% left.
at the evening - somewhere around 22h - the battery usually dies completely ...
14-15 hours of usage on battery... NO games, NO Youtube videos.
Max 30 minutes browsing the news (on WiFi)... and an hour of phone calls (city center, so no problem with reception...)
When the screen is on (btw. I set it to 70% brightness) I can literally see the battery percentage indicator decrease every few minutes...
Looks like I got a phone with bad battery... didn't I?
I'm on KitKat (4.4.2 stock) D802 version...
I had this problem on my freedompop(sprint) "refurbished" phone. Even though it looked like new on the outside, I would only get 2-3hrs sot. After replacing the battery I now get more than double that. Factory reset, disable/uninstall the apps you don't need, and only install the apps you do need. If you still get bad battery life then the only option is a new battery.
Btw, a custom rom will NOT give you significantly better sot unless it severely cuts performance and lcd brightness.

Well if you are using kitkat then i must say you got a faulty or old old battery . G2 on kitkat is/was a beast , I can recall those days when i used to get 7+ hrs sot on kitkat . you should call or email to your seller and tell them the problem you are facing.
After sorting through potential power draining apps etc.. You could try a battery calibrator of some sort. I used one and a big difference noticed, however after it's fully charged in the morning I take it off the charger and leave it sit there for at least 30 mins without touching it and battery life is even better.
Thank you all for your answers.
In the mean time I installed this Battery Monitor Widget.... and it gives me some "interesting" readings:
1. my phone charges ridiculously fast. From 37% to 100% in 70-80 minutes... Connected to the charger at 00:04. At 01:14 it was already at 99% (This widget gathers info every 10 minutes)
https://goo.gl/photos/DDerdsk2mSdKipMt7
...and it charges with an insane amount of current (over 2100 mA)
https://goo.gl/photos/VJd7iUFMm5A4s3UeA
2. there are some kind of "spikes" in battery usage, but after a few minutes the battery seems to recover...
this is the battery voltage statistics:
https://goo.gl/photos/Uh96utz1aBJNV3qCA
So, It is more and more evident, I got a faulty battery...
Now, only if I could know where to buy a GENUINE LG battery...
Aliexpress is full of "shops" claiming they are selling "original" LG batteries, however there are quite a few negative reviews about them... (batteries are lighter, thinner, deteriorating fast... etc.)

Redmi note 7 HIGH battery drain

Hello,
my uncle just bought me a brand new genuine Redmi note 7, I opened the box and turned the phone on.. I noticed that the battery was at 66%, I set up the phone which took a minute or less and that's when I was about to connect it to my wifi BUT then I notice that the battery is 63% ALREADY.. Now knowing that the phone has a 4000mah battery I was beyond shocked too see a 3% drain with low brightness and just 1 minute of light use literally no SIM or internet was being used.. so I turned it off and charged it to the max.. After that I turned the phone back on to update miui.. I connected the phone to my wifi and started updating to the last version.. available from the updater.. it took less than 10 minutes.. and guess what I see? 100% to 89% in less than 10 minutes that's crazy.. I bought this phone because of this guy w ww. youtube. com/watch?v=3gaWbx2x06s as we can see in the video he gets almost 8 hours of SOT with full brightness wifi and youtube FHD... right now I'm doing the same experiment and adding battery saver setting and my battery is draining fast I'd be surprised if I got 4 hours of sot... I don't understand... what's wrong? The phone is new and genuine since I verified the imei.. Thank you.

Thank you.

I believe every phone does the same thing like that when you configure them for the very first time. Full brightness, wifi scanning, mobile data ON, GPS ON, sync ON for a few minutes can consume lots of battery.
My advice is to fully set up your phone with all the apps you want and turn off any features you don't use. Use and recharge your phone normally for a few days. Check for battery consumption stats using native graphs or popular battery tracking apps. Analyze graphs and stats and draw the conclusions yourself. (Don't trust everything people say on YouTube, trust your own experience.)
In the worst scenario, you can always return your phone within 7 days of purchase. I hope you don't have to! :fingers-crossed:
My brand new redmi note 7 is a little fast draining right now too which is a little disappointing but my redmi note 5 was also the same fast draining when I first purchased it and it improved so I really hope this redmi note 7 does the same and improves.
I have both phones side by side right now so I can kind of compare usage

Yeah even my mediatek redmi note 4 didn't drain like this.. now when it gets to 15% it just discharges completely.
One thing I will mention is facial recognition. It could possibly drain the battery faster so I have just turned it off for testing purposes. I need to see what difference it makes but that's really the only difference between my two redmi phones 5 & 7.
Any new phone battery will take a few charge/drain cycles until it is calibrated correctly.
Use it for a while and see if the battery settles down.
Also different countries have different mobile systems. This will also affect battery life as the phone needs to continually scan for a signal....

30% brightness.. only wifi.

I know the post is old but I have the same problem ... I think we are so many to have it !!
I have a Note 7 for more than a month and it never went well ... I managed to do only 3 days but almost without using it, there are people who also do 4 or 5 days of use ...
Anyway if I use it it makes me amalapena 1 day ...
When I use the phone I see that it consumes my battery quickly even if I just navigate the phone menu.
I've already done at least 4 reset but it didn't help
I do not know what to do..
Did you solve the problem?
miui 11 could help?
Thanks
Imposible to do 4-5 days with this phone or any phone when u use it. Why do u have smartphone when u dont use it and u care about battery?
What version MIUI are you all using?
I'm still on 10.3.5 and battery life is great.
I average 9.5 hours SOT ( 2 days worth) with normal use and have got as high as just under 11 hours SOT a few times.
If you're not on 10.3.5, can you roll back?
I've heard of battery life issues after updating to the newer versions which is why I'm staying on this one until they work out the kinks
My battery life has improved since my earlier post just as I expected it to The note 5 does last a little longer when I put them side by side but they are both great phones and the batteries last for ages with normal daily use!
I barely use 50% with gaming (currently clash royale) social medias, spotify for around 2 hours and some other stuff plus I'm working 5 days a week so I don't get to see my phone for most of the day anyway

might be a dumb question but, how/when do you charge your phone ? do you wait for the battery to reach 0-10% and charge it back to 100%? or you do the 20% to 80% charge "cycle" ?
I try to charge my phones every night now when I go to bed, The note 5 & 7 are around 50% most days from useage and I charge them from around 8/9pm until I wake for work at 5am (Living the dream)

and what SOT do you get with the 50% usage ?
I am not sure, Because it almost never drops below 50% in a days usage I have stopped looking and worrying about battery life It just lasts and lasts for me.
However I will try and take notice over the next few days and report back if there is anything to report...
