There is NO specific language Android is coded in. Example:
Apps are in java,xml
Kernels have more than 10 langs.!! For ex: c,c++,bash etc.
There are also some langs eg smali specific to android so they are sort of encrypted java codes.. ( i havent seen smali before I got this phone)
So to sum it up... There is no specific language it is based on. Its a mixture of lot of coding languages.

Frankly i don't know the answer to your question but was this necessary - this is galaxy young q&a ... well .... a few off topics can be overlooked but general queries like these better be Googled if in fact you do want a satisfactory answer and are not creating a thread for the sake of doing so . No offense
This forum seems to be filling up quickly on some oversights, stupidity, and bizarreness.
'Ubuntu for Phones' is separate from 'Ubuntu for Android' (which is still being developed) .
There are no ETAs on ports. Check your device's specific development forum for port information. Be patient, do not make threads asking for ETAs.
Image has been released for the following devices:
Galaxy Nexus - maguro
Nexus 4 - mako
Nexus 7 - grouper
Nexus 10 - manta
How to install from Ubuntu | How to install from Windows
Ports:
Requirements:
Entry-level Ubuntu phones will require a 1Ghz Cortex A9 processor and between 512MB and 1GB of memory, while the high-end superphones that double as PCs will require a quad-core A9 or Intel Atom processor and at least 1GB RAM.
Note: These specs were found under the operators and OEMs section of canonicals website and may not reflect the requirements for installation on a android phone
Click to collapse
Compared to the specs for the galaxy nexus:
1.2 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9
1 GB memory
App store:
Ubuntu for phones will not launch with an app store (but will be released after launch) nor will it include an android app compatibility layer from canonical.
Terminal:
Will contain a terminal with perhaps an optimised keyboard for the terminal.
As always, be sure to check out the wiki for additional information.
Totally agree with OP. This forum is so full of inaccuracies it's becoming quite a comical read.
It desperately needs moderating.
Re: Common Sense/Info
Those specs u quoted were found under the operators and OEMs section of canonicals website and may not reflect the requirements for installation on a android phone
But I agree they should stickie this lets keep this tread alive
it also is a seperate thing from ubuntu ON phones. This forum has become a mess. Where's the mod?

It doesn't look big in app.. because app ignores size.. but in PC or browser.. it looks really big..

What my point is.. app sign is for apps... because you can't see desktop version sign in app...
So, when you are on app size doesn't matter as its ignored..
The PC mode will show the xda signature.. so there is no need for an app sign.. so it shouldn't be a hindrance to people reading on PC..
So, I don't see why you want to use such huge size in app sign where you can't see it in app.. and you will see 2 signatures in PC thanks to such huge size. Its like to read one line of post which is a 2cm width.. you have to ignore 20cm signature width..
Also, the signatures will be read only once.. I mean once you read a signature.. you will ignore it for rest of your posts.. so every time it has to be looked over..
Did I make any sense bro?

Google play services is not required - its just an app that allows Google to spy on your usage & is also a drain on phone resources
If you want to use YouTube and you get the message Google services not installed just press the phones back button and the message will go
If YouTube force closes just repeat the step
You can't sign into YouTube without Google services but you can still use it
