Funny that after 30+ years of Windows, these are the best on offer for the "new" Win. Yes, I've always wanted to go retro and play all the rejects from the 80s. Where do I sign up? Do they have DRM, too? Can I also get IAPs? >pant, pant<
Drooling in anticipation...
OK not really.
Totally sirius so when is Skyrim showing up on Metro? Any real game that aren't high school projects?
I also would like to see what touchscreen enabled games that people recommend. I am currently playing Dredd vs Zombies. It is a great action/shooter game. I am hoping to find a good strategy/building game in the genre of age of empires or majesty for my latitude 10 tablet. I just installed all my gods but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. For match 3 gwmes I am playing Montezuma 3.
@e.mote: Fine, install Civ 5. No, it's not in the store. That doesn't stop you from putting it on Win8 though, and it even has explicit support for touch controls.
Wordament is a lot of fun on my Surface RT. Not a "play for hours" game typically (although you can), and definitely not an "oh, shiny graphics!" game, but just *fun*. The Pinball FX2 game that often comes pre-installed is good too, although all but the default table are paid (the default table is free). Soulcraft is worth trying.
On my Win8 desktop, I play mostly Heroes of Newerth, Civ5 (non-touch-mode, since it doesn't have a touchscreen), Faster Than Light, EVE Online, and a bunch of others of varying ages. Nothing special about any of them for Win8; they're just Windows games. Aside from a bit of Pinball, though, I haven't actually played the Metro apps much at all on my PC. I'm sure there's good ones, for fair prices, but I've got a huge backlog of games mostly from GOG and those work great too...
Skulls of the Shogun is pretty cool, Turn based monster slasher/tactic with a tons of extra stuff. http://skullsoftheshogun.com/

But that's not real money right?
real dice it is the worst poker game ever, there is some action preflop and from that point on if you check everybody checks till the river ...
so bad! only graphics are stunning!
A good AI, but lousy graphics is All in holdem! I dont care about the graphics if the game is good and in this case the game rocks. Certain type of players, mad bluffs,... sometimes the computer goes a bit crazy though with marginal hands but it can only be good for our chipstack
Last time I checked the biggest poker rooms they did not have a winmo client yet...

Oh man I the DC. I still have mine and about 100+ games. I could never afford the broadband adapter so I use and old laptop and some linux, hardware modifying to allow my DC to play online. Phantasy Star and Unreal, Quake......good times, now those times can be mobile. SWEET. Good find
Nice! Too bad the trials are only 10 mins instead of 30.
EDIT: And like always, OnLive shuts off my internet and phone... Oh well. lol at least I beat the beginning boss on Sonic before I got cut off.
I'll totally buy Sonic Adventure 2. That'd be awesome, Chao garden in my pocket !
This is very nice...IF ONLY ONLIVE WOULD BE AVAILEBLE IN GERMANY
I played the trial of Sonic Adventure and found that it lagged too much to have any accurate controls for the first level after Chaos. Good concept, and I don't know if it was just my phone that wasn't wanting to do it well, but not something I'd spend money on.

You won't see Sonic Adventure 2 in other platform than Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo Gamecube.
These are not direct Dreamcast games, these are games that Sega compiled on a disc called "Dreamcast Collection" for PC. Don't expect to see any other game out. No Shenmue, no Sonic Adventure 2, etc.
Pretty awesome. You got to try OnLive sometime guys. With MHL, you guys can play ps3 xbox360 games on your big screen through Note lol. OnLive is free and also includes trials for a lot of games. I personally purchased Saints Row 3 and Lego Batman on it.
Sounds pretty awesome. I wasn't aware that this is possible. Few questions....
How much is the service? Can you play any game on there?
How is the resolution and framerates?
Can you use something like a PS3 controller?
Is there GTA IV?
Some pics would be nice

The service is free but the games are paid. Many of them you get a free trial mode so you can check it out. Google Market OnLive. Yeah it also supports game controllers so if you have one you're in luck. The resolution doesn't seem like it's at 720p but it's not too bad. Give it a shot, it's free.
I thought the onlive service went bankrupt? And was closing . But this will work on any web device

Sorry but Onlive is a joke of service, its a 720p low bit rate video stream of the game played on a server 1000km away. pump that out to a 1080p TV and it looks like a smeery smush... not worth the monthly fees or paying full price to stream a low bit rate version of a game.
Come back to it in 3 years time and it may be viable for now just seems pointless + still angry at the way that company went bust, screwed over investors then came back to life less than 24 hours later as the same company. I don't trust them anymore...
P.S full disclosure i wasnt an investor in OnLine i just think the way all that went down was a bit off really...
Its not too bad lol. I have it setup on my big screen and it's actually very convenient. Yeah the video is not 1080p but it's not laggy or unplayably ugly. I have it setup to my laptop as well. I think I might have gotten those 2 games that I own when they offered it for a dollar each. Not bad, all this for 2 dollars

Hi fellow app developers! I'm very excited, as a humble game creator, I'm presenting you my very first game.
I have realized the game all by myself, in only two weeks. It is made in Java, under Eclipse, using the middle-ware LibGDX, and using Inkscape for the graphics. Graphics have been designed to supports the super HD resolution of 2560×1600 of the Nexus 10 tablets ! But it also runs smoothly on lower end devices.
I'd like to hear what you think about it, of course the game itself, if it is fun, if you like the game play, and also the marketing presentation I've made, and hear any advice you can give me.
Go get it ! It's free ! Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!
Don't hesitate to share it with your friends, your children and your parents ! Everyone can play it, everyone will love it :fingers-crossed: !
It is really nice app. I didn't see games like this before.
Hey, just downloaded it now. I like the design, and how fun it is. Good job!

Color blindness affects a significant number of people, and it was very interesting to learn about it.
Do you know for example that some people don't see any difference between yellow and green ? we have to think differently about the colors we use when making our apps.
A great software I recommend for 'seeing' as color blind people is Color Oracle.
Happy coding !
I would like to present you a game made in 2022 and which I hope will revolutionize the quality of the application for Cardboard VR all over again.
Google Play Store game:
Urban Zombie: VR Shooter
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.UrbanITSupport.UrbanZombieVRSurvivalDemo
The game is developed in the Universal Render Pipeline (URP) technology.
This is a survival shooter game. Enjoy the advancing hordes of zombies, graphics that have been carefully crafted for the best and most accurate Cardboard VR experience. As in the real world, there is no artificial sight, information about the amount of ammunition, zombie location and other facilities to spoil the real VR experience.
You have the opportunity to shoot zombies in the open area of the factory, and to fight hordes in an abandoned building. Older people say this was once a clinic. There was absolutely nothing left of her now. Do you have enough courage to check if there is anything hiding in her basement?
The game has three aiming modes:
- Simple
- First sight (fire + aim key)
- Second sight (aim key)
In future updates, it is planned to add more types of zombies, new types of weapons, exploding elements on the map and other maps to choose.
Recommended for better quality gameplay:
- Cardboard for VR experiences (ex. BOBOVR Z5)
- Gamepad (ex. MOCUTE-050)
One person was working on the game. It was made in URP (Universal Render Pipeline) technology for Virtual Reality gameplay with a gamepad. I would like the game to have a gameplay in which you can choose from a few maps, different weapons, many types of zombies, Survival Defense style, where zombies come from outside, for example, and they get inside through windows that you can repair. If I manage to do the above, I will make the possibility of a 4-person Multiplayer Game. I work alone and I need your support, dear players. If you like the game and its potential, put me some coffe, then I don't fall asleep working late in the evening
Thanks and Regards
Urban
