According to play.google.com, the NY Times app is compatible with my rooted NST. It downloads and installs, but crashes when I try to open it. Does anyone have any ideas for getting the NY Times app to work?
I have a NST with firmware 1.21 that was rooted with NookManager (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040351) and further updated with NTGappsAttack (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086582).

I am mostly a newbie with rooting. I don't know what logcat is or how to find it.
You need to learn about ADB.
There is tons of stuff about it on XDA and on this forum.
Here is one such source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879701
Once you have an ADB shell, type logcat.
Then start your NY Times.
Look at all the junk it spits out and copy and drop it somewhere.
If you can edit it down to just the interesting parts you can post it here.

If you don't hate GUI, you can use monitor (C:\android-sdk-windows\tools\monitor.bat) from android-sdk-windows. You can filter logcat messages nice and easy...

Non of the rooting methods are working for me.
What is not working? I was having difficulties as well but found a workaround.
I have rooted and flashed my Vibrant but cannot understand the directions enough to attempt to root the Nexus S. I have tried hooking the phone up to adb which is installed on my PC but it does not recognize the device and says permission denied. I am confused do I use adb? Do I use fast boot ( which I have no idea how to use)? I have used Terminal Emulator on the Vibrant and my Nexus One but you have to have root to use it. I know I am not very educated in these matters but any all help would be greatly appreciated, other than I should take the phone back and get a refund as I am not bright enough to own one!! Which I have been told. They may be right LOL LOL
In my opinion, the creators of wonderful one click rooting apps like z4root, universal one click root, visionary etc. should try to integrate support for nexus S in their upcoming builds.

These root options use a security exploit that don't work anymore on Gingerbread (tested yesterday on IRC #NSdev)
What no more one-click roots! Err....

I was just lazy in setting up my ADB/Fastboot and stopped for work at this point, but interesting that I have the same issue.
I don't think it can't get any easier than: fastboot oem unlock

in the latest SDK revision they moved adb to \platform-tools. you need to change the PATH variable to that folder and restart your computer for it to take effect

Hi, I have a problem with the whole locking the Android for too long. The problem is this, when I lock my HTC HD2 for too long, the screen freezes and doesnt come back on unless I remove the battery and re-boot.
Is there a solution for this?
And if so, can it be posted?
Thanks in advance

Do you have rooted build? Mostly all the builds are rooted. But sometimes in some builds root permissions have problem. You can check whether you have root or not by following method:-
Download terminal emulator from market(free)
Open emulator and type "su" without quotations and press enter
if you do not get any errors then you have root enabled. If you have some errors then you might have to find solution to root your build.
I also got lock freezes that appeared at some point. I started remembering what I was installing and guessed it might be the poweramp lockscreen widget. I disabled it yesterday and did not have any lockscreen freezes today.

Well I am not a pro in the matter of rooting the build... I would recommend you to search the thread of your own build. May be someone else had the same problem. Another thing you can do is post another question about rooting the phone, may be someone expert will help you out....

If you are using Windows use the link in my signature for TrueBlue's ADB setup.
Thank you, This has let me use ADB Command Prompt, But not as I wanted.
When I typed ADB Devices
I get a blank list.
When I plug in the phone, and the installed drivers are showing, all are installed but Adb.
I really do not know what is wrong, many anyone view my computer screen via teamviewer.
Thank you very much, I would like to donate to anyone who solves my solution.!

Don't really understand you. To me, gfree is the easy way. It's not much simpler than unzipping a file and running it. It has a better track record of success than any of the previous methods, but, whatever. To each their own struggle.

I dont take donations, but I am happy to help in any way I can. If you have a blank list you probably havent installed the drivers correctly or you have not turned on USB debugging.I will be happy to view your screen. Send me a Private Message with the info to do that if you still need the help.

We know that it is the easiest. But yet we've taken the time to learn ADB and what does what. Most people see the ADB commands and get nervous and want to do something that is automated and scripted. where all they have to do is punch in a "go" command and everything is done for them.
if you have issue with ADB using SDK just download this zip, extract it and transfer it to the SDK it will work just fine

Does anyone know how to resolve? It says NST does not have enough space but I have 95MB left. I am not sure what happens.
Be sure you have used the latest version of NookManager that includes the PackageInstaller.apk. Or you can use adb to install packages (or use adb to install PackageInstaller.apk and then everything else should install normally.

seeing how you're probably new to android development you may not know what the logcat is. It should be one of the tabs below where you put code in eclipse. you'll see the tabs 'problems, console, logcat, ..., ...' click on the logcat and that will show you what caused the app to crash in red.
if its not there, at the top click Window>Show View>Other>Android>logcat and it will open
like the others said we would need to see your logcat before we could be certain what caused the crash.
@frenzyboi @sak-venom1997 @Acela1230 I am also trying to develop a simple calculator but getting fc. Please help me on how to post logcat here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245339
