Can anyone recommend a good messaging app please? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm new to the N7 world and I miss my chaton or whatsapp, can anyone recommend a good alternative that works on the N7?
Thank you.
EDIT: I've managed to get chaton installed by extracting the .apk from my s3 and installing it on my N7 !!! And it works a treat!!

I use whatsapp on my N7. Google Talk is a nice alternative I guess.
(I restored whatsapp with titaniummbackup, the appguard way did not work for me anymore)

Messaging app for Nexus 7

Before I got my Nexus, I used my Droid X as my primary internet browsing device. Now, of course, I use my Nexus for that but I don't have an easy way of sending links or pictures to all my friends (preferably straight to their SMS inboxes). I'm using Google Voice for texting but you can't send pictures. Anyone have any good alternatives? It would be nice to have a hacked stock Messaging app that can utilize your Google Voice number or something but I'm not sure how feasible this is. Also if anyone could assist me in getting calls to work through the Voice app I'd appreciate that too
Check out Tablet Talk in play store. Don't know if u can send pictures though.

Kingsoft and quick office not compatible

Hey all
In my play store my kingsoft office and quick office etc show up as not compatible. This was after I flashed paranoid android 2.12. Can someone please help? I need my office apps to work.
Don't have enough posts to directly post in developer thread so kindly help.

Im guessing something to do with your dpi settings, change the playstore dpi to stock 213 or 160, and you shouldn't have compatibility issues with them apps, kingsoft works great for me

Thanks a ton bro. That actually worked. I was at dpi300 and 800x. Once I was back in Stock a lot of apps became accessible.
Problem solved

News and Weather Genie not stock ?

My Brother just picked up the Nexus 7 with 4G. He's an iPhone guy switching over slowly.
Anyways, he asked me for some good Widgets. I said an Android classic is the "News and Weather" genie widget. He said that's not on this tablet. I told him to look under apps, for News and Weather, and sane under the Widget tab. He said nope, not there.
Did Google remove that classic Widget ?

Anyone ?
I don't own the Nexus 7 myself. Just a Galaxy Nexus, and a Note 2 running CM10.1 and the "News and Weather" genie widget is standard.
Is it not installed on the Nexus 7 ?

Nope not installed on the nexus 7. I read somewhere on here Google does not support it any more or something like that?
I've tried to side load the apk file to my n7 many times with no success.
However I am running clean ROM inheritance 3.2 and it comes with the ROM.
I am new to all this stuff. This is what I don't understand, the app is listed as transperent. It does not show up in titanium backup and I can't find it with root explorer.
I have no idea what is going on with this app.
I hope someone can clear this up

It's available on the backend, but you've got to actually run apps that support the new features (it's all part of GCM if you want to look it up, replacing C2DM). Even Google's offerings using GCM though (Hangouts, looking at you!) are really...weird about it.
For text messages try Mighty Text. Just install it on both your android phone and the nexus 7

I've found a great app for me. NotiSync. The only negative point is, that this app only uses bluetooth. But its great, that i can configure custom apps
If someone have a similar app but per wifi, pls talk to me

Agree, Mightytext developer's really made my day a lot easier! Getting notified of SMS, MMS & calls that's incoming. Sure lot's of Apps gives the simular functions, but the great thing about MT is that you could have a tab running in your browser and get notified on the computer also, and that you can answer/create msg directly from N7 or webbrowser. Smooth is that it runs on your 3G/4G, so you'll not have to use bluetooth or wifi and flipping it on and off etc. Sure if you wanna use the wifi @ home on your phone, MT will of course use that route. Probably the most beloved product for me, because having long conversation over SMS is just dumb. When you have a keyboard that makes me input data that much faster, but not everyone is thinking like me Glad that's not the case though! hehe..
Best regards,
H.

Where's the new messenger app with kitkat?

Hey. Got my Nexus 4 running 4.4 yay.! I thought there was supposed to be a new messenger app. I still have the standard Android messenger and it works fine as best I can tell. Could it be because I've got Google + and Hangouts disabled? I had it disabled when I updated. It's really okay with me I wasn't looking forward to the change. I'm just curious why I didn't get the new thing.
