[Request] stock android.policy.jar update - Xperia Play General

Hi guys,
This is a request for a dev to create an android.policy.jar/framework.jar for stock/nxt 1.2 light with the following features added:
* Expanded power off menu, reboot, screenshot, etc.
* Volume button music controls
* Long press back to kill apps
* Nxt lockscreen with musics controls etc.
* Also a settings.apk with these options included and quickpanel options would be great
I have seen all these features in stock roms but have not seen a rom with all these options together correct me if i am wrong.
It's just an idea not a demand or anything just if any devs have time and like the idea.
I have used this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974909 by secko which was the closest to what i describe but it was unstable bootloops etc.
Thanks for reading

Codename Android is a fully open source rom that focuses on speed, usability, and getting every feature that we can get CRAMMED in there .
Our mission is to spread the Open Source Android love to as many people as possible, and get as many people involved as possible. Along with the rom there will be tutorials to get more people involved and learning how to build android step by step.
We are pleased to announce the CodeName Android ROM Utility. All info about it can be found HERE as well as the download link. For now it will act as an app that will centralize all downloads for CodeName Android. There is one feature that needs to be added. The missing feature is the flashing of zips through recovery but we are working hard on this and should have it working soon.
You may use the app to download ROMs and all available add on packages or we have provided direct links below.

Security/Screen Lock is not working. If you lock the screen and immediately turn it on by pressing the power button, there is no security to unlock it, you go right into where you left off.

[INFO] 4.2.2 / 2.17.401.1 Compatible Mods & Tweaks

After upgrading to 4.2.2, I've found none of the tweaks I loved on 4.1.2 no longer work, namely the Advanced Power Menu, Holo status bar icons, battery themes, etc. Wanted to put together a centralized resource of mods that are compatible with the new 4.2.2 based ROMs. If you've made a mod or successfully tested it on a new ROM, please post it here and let us know.
For advanced settings two finger pull down...most are included by htc now

there is a theme for arhd10 in the themes and app section and you can use xposed with madaco toolkit for volume wake volume music controls and i think apm
i can confirm that advanced power menu works and volume wake is an option but i cant seen to find volume music control might be a different module for that

Help customize S4-GPE (coming from TW-S4)

Hi There,
I am new to the whole android world.. I am a recovering iOS junkie and loving the Android environment.
I started with a AT&T GS4 which has MF3 firmware on it so no ROMS (yet..) I decided I wanted to try the Google Play Edition and "MOSTLY" love it. I find there are several TouchWiz customizations that I long for on the GPE.
Few items to know before I begin:
1) I have to maintain an un-rooted device to access my corp email (airwatch MDM)
* Policy required encryption and PIN
2) Not opposed to ROM's if I can still achieve (1)
I have both devices and have switched back and forth between the two this week but just can't give up the TouchWiz version..
* GPE: Love the clean, unbloated snappiness of the device.
* GPE: Love the Status Bar and how it stays uncluttered (compared to ATT/Samsung)
* GPE: Miss the TW Toggles when swiping down for Notifications. I have installed 3 or 4 different apps trying to find the best one to replace, but none offer quite the same experience.. None can actually toggle GPS, Airplane mode and a few others (without root right?) I am using "Notification Toggle" which is 98% meeting the needs.. but it has it's own "notification icon" on the status bar which you can make invisible but now just shifts other icons to the right leaving a blank space.
* GPE: Dislike that you can't add or modify the native toggles.. seems there is a ton of extra room.
* GPE: Dislike the GPE Phone dialer "In call" options being buried in an icon menu.. I like the Samsung Dialer with the larger mute/speaker phone/headset options.. I recognize I can replace the dialer.. so this isn't a HUGE issue.
* GPE: When returning from sleep and phone not "locked" it returns to where I left off.. would prefer how the Samsung still has an "Unlock" outside of the PIN entry.. (Maybe this is customizable, but I haven't figured it out..)
* GPE: Hard Volume buttons bring up one volume slider.. I love the way Sam-TW lets you press the "settings" next to volume and lets you adjust Ringtone, Media, Notification,System volumes
* Sam-TW: Dislike all the bloat (Samsung and AT&T).
I am using Nova Launcher Prime on both devices.
So, I am on the fence as to which device I am going to keep....
Any thoughts? (and yes... I know I probably sound f'ing crazy! hahaha)
Thanks,
Mike

I am in a similar quandary, I spent 10 minutes on TW and I hated how ugly it was. So I flash CM10.2, but it didn't allow me to use the case lock/unlock feature, or notifications through the case window.
Then I flashed to GE and have been mostly happy, still miss some CM10.2 features, but love having the case lock/unlock and notifications. Hopefully CM10.2 will have a Stable release in the near future that incorporates these features.
I had some issues with the camera quality, a lot of blurring. Flash "Focal" camera from CM10.2 and it has been brilliant.

[Q&A][KK]Review of 2 roms, with tips and bugs and future suggestions

Introduction:
Everyone uses there android device differently, and as a result not everyone will be looking for the same features from a ROM, and as a result developers simply do not know what to do to satisfy the many needs of the andoid users.
what I aim to do with this thread is to provide a review of 2 of the best ROMs out there for our device (based on my opinion), and include some tips, bugs and suggestions for the future.
What I have here is a review of 2 android 4.4.2 ROMs for the xperia arc/s. the ROMs are VANIR AOSP and C-rom.
let's start with a introduction to VANIR AOSP:
Vanir aosp is a ROM built with the user who likes a degree of customization to there phone in mind. the devs behind it have decided to build a ROM completely based on what is important and necessary for the users. they added only those features that passed certain criteria and only those features were allowed to be put into the ROM build. any unnecessary features were not added.
The result is a light, super stable and lagless ROM that would be more than enough to please the android user.
THE GOOD:
-lots of customization options in settings
-very very stable
-very fast and all the time around 200mb free ram
-nice 'on the go mode' feature
-nice option for choosing boot animations
-dual panel mode for settings
THE BAD:
-only features the devs have picked are added to the rom, so if you have a feature you want but the dev thinks its not important it won't be added
-floating windows for apps cannot be moved
THE BUGS:
-sound manager forces close message every time I try to open it
-adding a new user causes a force close message to appear whenever trienf to open gallery
-swiping on the keyboard causes the aosp keyboard to force close
-screen recorder doesn't work (should just be removed from our devices completely, the arc will never be fat enough to screen record)
-camera video doesnt work (although ion kernel would be the problem)
C-ROM:
c-rom is a ROM that is simply mind blowing, the ROM just has every feature I can simply think off, and in some instances it had features I have never even heard off.
the dev behind it added every feature from android I can think off, all into one amazing rom, for those people who like to change every single thing on there phone.
THE GOOD:
-tons of customizations
-lots of free ram, around 200mb all the time
-super smooth
-good turn on and off speeds (experienced this with v5.9 not v5.6)
-movable floating windows
-on the go mode
THE BAD:
-opening apps in floating mode is a little tedious
-slightly high battery consumption
THR BUGS:
there are bugs in both versions of c-rom so here goes:
v5.6:
-multi user support doesn't work, causes tons of force close messages when switching to the new user
-no option for enabling widget support on the lockscreen (only way to get the option is by editing build.prop file, but that causes the high end graphics option to dissapear from the performance menu)
-sound recorder doesn't have a ui, so users can't launch it from drawer (vanir aosp has this)
-no dowbloads app from drawer, and hence I can't make shortcuts to the download manager because there sinply isn't icon for it.
-no option to opt out of c-rom stats, it came up once then disappeared, but I know the menu for it exists
-can't put apps into floating window mode with halo switched off (in vanir aosp you can do this)
v5.9 bugs:
-no camera (video) although could be due to ion kernel?
-kernel logo sometimes comes up while I am using the phone
-the button in the status bar that switches between the tiles and the notification view move out of alignment when pressed
-no save page option in the browser but the option is there?
-swiping on aosp keyboard causes it to force close
-no force high end graphics option in settings
-no sound recorder icon in drawer
-opening the advanced settings option in the performance control app causes a force close
-exposed module causes a bootloop (stuck on kernel logo)
-no option to opt out of c-rom stats
-multi user support works fine, but causes a force lose on all media apps, I.e. try opening gallery and it force closes
so as you can see both ROMs are each unique but they are considered (by me) the best ROMs for xperia arc.
some tips for everyone:
-downloads in kitkat are found under an app called 'documents'
-to enable widget support on lockscreen in c-rom v5.6 you need to modify build.prop file changing the low ram config option to false
-there is no sound recorder icon in the drawer, although the app is installed, if you want to record using it, create a new message and add an attachment, when picking the attachment pick sound recorder and that's it.
some suggestions for c-rom in the future:
-would be great if you could add a dual panel mode like in vanir
-a better way if opening apps in floating window
my final verdict though on both ROMs, is that they are both amazing ROMs, but I think the award has to go to c-rom, due to its vast number of customizations while being a stable and smooth ROM. Good job 3andala
I would like to also point out that, I am not disrespecting others developers who have made a kk ROM for xperia arc, I am simply giving my opinion on 2 ROMs that I really like and consider to be the best for my xperia arc.
my ultimate goal really from a thread like this is to maybe one day see all developers working on only one ROM, that would be the smoothest ROM, with the most features etc..... that everyone would use, and just simply have a ROM that takes the device to it's limits, a ROM that we can all say that its the most complete ROM ever made for the xperia arc, and there will never be a better rom for this device than this. anyone with me?
anyway that's it from me, I hope you liked what if provided and if I helped you let me know as it makes me happy.
P.S. is there any way of increasing the brightness of the notification LED? there are patches for this on ICS and jb but no patches for this on kitkat, so could anyone advise me how its done?

Looks nice ! If anyone could report about the performance (antutu) and the battery life, id consider flashing this
Ugh, tried to flash the 700 on my 705 (never tried this before) but didn't get far.
TWRP 2.8.6.2.
Thank you very much for developing for this device, it's nice to see more variety for the T700.
Thanks a lot for developing new rom for tab s, downloading and will report back about its performance
Looks like I've ran into 3 problems so far.
1. If you try to skip logging into your Gmail account to do it afterwards, Setup Manager FCs and puts you back at the Select Wifi page.
2. I cannot change music with the volume buttons, I've tried this on two different players (Shuttle and Gramaphone.) This has happen to me with roms in their early stages most of the time, so I usually just install the app Pocket Skip Track to workaround the issue until it's fixed. Works just with with the app installed.
3. Theme Manager seems to be unusable, installing icon or themes from the Play Store causes an automatic soft restart, and trying to apply either FCs the Theme Manager.
Other than that I'm loving this (Especially the more tablet like notifications.) I use to use Liquid waaaay back when I had a Droid X, nice to use it again.
EDIT: Added to the list.

I doubt it i tend to only build devices I own and or a friend has. It didn't take much to get this building so t800 shouldn't be hard.

Ah, alright. I thought it was a bug as the option to enable it was there, but Pocket Skip Track works just fine.

This are great news!!
m.
Theme provider always fc and can you please change position to bottom, of clear recent button?
My god man, usually I really have a hard time with AOSP ROMs because they either drain so much battery, overheat the device or have lots of fc. But man, this ROM is perfect ! I like how some of the UI size has been tweaked for the tablet screen, the new sound effects are dope ! In terms of performance, everything runs perfectly. I've tried every other aosp ROMs for this tablet and this one is the only one I'm gonna consider as a daily driver ! My tablet is nit running hot and the battery is better than stock at the moment ! And I like the KitKat browser and gallery, makes everything even more smoother ! Give me your donate button, you've earned it mate Can't wait till you fix the theme FC !
Also I've noticed a real performance boost in gaming compared to Stock TW 5.0.2. I had framerate problems on Mortal Kombat X and on your Rom, the game is running at 60fps haha ****ing Touchwiz man
On screen navigation buttons seem to not fit/scale/render properly in landscape mode. Great ROM otherwise. ?

Hi thanks for the new rom support much appreciated. Couple of question if you don't mind, is the kernel permissive or enforcing? Is there a unmount feature for the micro sd card? And I know this probabally don't work but worth asking anyways, any fingerprint support? Thanks again!
Thanks boss for this great rom!
It is step up to other cm's- speed is is different like day and night. Device not heating at all, as others say...
I have some issues/ help requests if possible:
- theme engine gives FC and reboot when try to implement some other cm12 theme (will be nice to fix, to use some dark settings battery friendly theme)
- I got fc on any settings in stock browser
again thanks for GREAT PERFORMANCE rom
Is there anyway to get the DARK theme on this ROM. Thank you for this awesome work.
