[Q] What did I do to my I9500 (probs with 4.3, ODIN, recovery, etc.)?

This is where my I9500 is right now:
AP: I9500UBUBMG9
CP: I9500UBUEMK1
CSC: I9500UUBBMG9
I know that MK1 is from 4.3 and MG9 from 4.2.2. So I'll tell you how my phone got there:
Last week I flashed stock 4.3 (and did a backup in CWM recovery before flashing.) To my dismay, everything with 4.3 was very laggy and unresponsive; services were stopping left-and-right. A battery-pull/hard-restart had no effect. The lag was so bad that it took me 2 to 3 minutes to properly shut it down each time.
So at that point, I planned to reflash 4.2 (I was not aware of the problems of downgrading after upgrading to 4.3.) In trying to do so, ODIN (on my PC) would just freeze partway through, never completing the process and giving me some error message. In trying to reenter ODIN mode, I'd get the yellow triangle screen each time.
After some searching of the forums here, I found and did something (I can't remember exactly what it was) but I managed to enter ODIN mode. This time I tried reflashing again. Same thing, of course. But this second time around I noticed the "warranty bit: 1" thing that I hadn't noticed before (I figured it had to be something to do with knox that I had read about in upgrading to 4.3.) Here's my current screen in ODIN mode:
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9500

Anyway, rather than keep messing around with ODIN, I thought I would just restore the backup I made. But instead of entering recovery, I kept getting the yellow triangle. Finally, as a last-ditch effort, I ended up reflashing CWM Recovery through ODIN. Then I was able to successfully enter recovery mode, restore my backup image. Now my phone runs just as it did before (just with a different baseband version.)
What does all this mean for my device?
Any ideas why 4.3 was crashing everything? Is there something different I should do before I reflashing 4.3? Or should I wait for a more stable 4.3.x? (I assum the errors I experienced in ODIN were due to trying to downgrade to 4.2. I would certainly hope to use ODIN in the future to flash new versions.)

TPA is Panama, right? When I flashed 4.3, it was indeed "TPA" (so I'm really clueless why it was so laggy and unusable.)

- You cant receive OTA updates or Kies updates (u see it in the screenshot u attached before) how u have the phone now
- I will tell my steps and u can do what u wish later:
1. Download and unrar correct firmware for ur phone -> HERE (I dunno where u download it, anyway if u have it u dont need download it again)
1. Make a Internal Memory backup
2. Go to Custom Recovery and make a full wipe (data, system, cache and dalvick cache) and reboot ur phone in DOWNLOAD MODE
3. Open Odin with ur PC
4. Flash the firmware by PDA/AP button
5. Click START button
6. Wait till the process finish and ur phone will reboot
7. Ur phone will go perfect now i think
8. Good luck

OMFG! I completely mis-remembered what I actually did (I can't even believe it!) Thank you for jogging my memory.
Initially I wasn't too keen on the 8-hour ETA for downloading 4.3, so I reflashed stock 4.2 in ODIN. And it was through Kies that I installed 4.3. Obviously in its stock 4.2 state, Kies recognized it as "updatable" and initiated the download/update of 4.3. So the whole unstable installation I had is even more perplexing. Oh well. I'm downloading 4.3 now and will try updating through ODIN. I'll report back. Thanks.

can i downgrade from 4.3 to 4.2.2 without any issue, includingwith 4.3 bootloader, using the latest 4.3 modem, the devices it's running great, no problem so far, and yes TPA is for Panama also PBS, CPA, CPW

yet another wifi problem

Hi, my phone came as a re-furb and it had a united arab emirates rom on it(ramadan dates on calendar, all languages set to arabic etc.), wifi was working on this rom fine.
i upgraded to xxungng8 and wifi also worked. the next day when i took my phone off charge it dropped wifi. the only way i was able to get it back was installing the adam kernel. i had tried updating the modem(non hlos wifi fix). that was last friday, the wifi stopped working the nxt time i had finished charging my phone, now i cant get wifi working atall, it did work once after the battery had ran right down and i recharged it, but only for a few minutes. i changed the rom to xxufnc9 because on the thread it showed it fixed it for a lot of people but not me unfortunately.
when i try to turn on wifi the slider goes across to the 1 but is grayed out, it then jumps back to 0, and does the same each time i try to start wifi. ive got a build.prop file(through adam kernel) which changed the setting from true to fasle also.
i have tried updating the modem to the latest(GNk4) but it wont take on the phone, when i dial *#1234# i get

i think if i can get the phone to take the wifi fix modem this should solve it?
i have tried flashing with oden, getting pass, manually rebooting(both power for 10 secs and battery pull), then flashing again straight into recovery then reset but no luck so far.

2. Make a data backup and a "factory reset" (Settings > Accounts > Back Up and Reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Device > Delete All/Erase Everything) then.
3. Try if you have wifi when your device reboots.
4. Dial *#1234# and tell me what appears :highfive:

Reflash the same firmware I gave ya coz at the final what you have to see when you dial *#1234# is this:

sorry just realised i flashed a slightly newer firmware, currently have the one you said downlaoding, about 2 hours download time currently. i just tried the gng8 wifi fix aswell but no difference, willw ait on this downloading, thanks.

1) Root your device
2) File explorer, i used "Root Explorer"
3) Go to File System Root>system
4) Open built.prop
5) Search ro.securestorage.support=true, edit and change true to false (or viceversa, try the 2 options)
6) Save then file and reboot

Can I root using towel root? Think u saw a thread that said on higher firmwares you needed to use mobile odin pro and it also got rid of knox?

You don't need it coz your KNOX:0x1. You can root your device with other methods like HERE.

Seems to be a hardware issue. Remember dont mixmatch bootloaders and everything they are the ones that mess up with WiFi very easily. Reset your phone once more go into download mode and flash the latest firmware for your phone 2 times. If that doesn't work then you have a hardware issue.

Just curious if you have flashed the ROM @Joku1981 gave you the link for a second time? That should also correct the bootloader issue you're having. It should be the same as the baseband.

[Q][noob] Note 4 N910F still with android 5.0.1

Hey guys
I may sound noob but the fact that my phone is still under android 5.0.1 drives me crazy (recent apps lag etc).
I've been checking for updates (OTA) but "Latest Updates have already been installed" message pops up.
I bought the phone from Cyprus (2nd hand) and as far as I am concerned it is fully stock (non-rooted).
Was my device supposed to receive the 5.1.1 update OTA, since other Note 4s in Cyprus were updated to 5.1.1 ?

Was you phone rooted before? I am not sure of what i am going to say, but maybe if it was rooted you might not get official OTA. Turn off the phone, press POWER + HOME + VOLUME UP, and on the top left corner theres a Knox counter, check if it is 0x0 or 1x1. I am new to this phone and i have heard in some of the 2014/2015 phones if you root even if you unroot you won't be able to update via OTA. Hope it helps

That's incorrect even if you trip your knox counter you can still receive otas, your phone has to be fully stock however to receive the otas. If you go to settings about and software information your device status should be 'official'. Another way to check is to boot into download mode (Volume Down + Home + Power button) and check if all the system are official. If they are then you are good to go.
OTAs are usually released in waves so that might be the problem.
Anyhow you can manually update your phone using Odin.
Download this firmware file : http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/56036/N910FXXU1COI1_N910FVFG1COH5_CYV/
Then extract it and put your phone in download mode and connect it to your PC then run Odin as admin. (Make sure Kies is uninstalled)
Put the file in PDA and flash the firmware to your device.

So, how can I make sure that this is the right Firmware to flash (as the phone was bought from Cyprus 2nd hand, and Im not sure if the other guy bought it from an other country in Europe) ?
Moreover, If i manually install the firmware file, as you stated, do I need to root the phone or something ? Or the device will be 100% official (its just that you install the update through the pc instead of OTA )?
It seems to be taking too long for the OTA, and that's why I was worried.

The firmware is fully stock, untouched.
You do not need to be rooted to flash the firmware.
You can install this app on your phone and check your CSC

I suppose it is a Greek version. So, which firmware shall i download ? (There are 3 different firmwares : Greece, Greece Cosmote, Greece Vodafone. Greece has no 5.1.1 version only the latter two have.

Might I ask are you in the UK (Your current operator) If so you can attempt to flash the UK firmware.
If however you are living in Greece then you could flash one of the Greece firmwares and then flash a stock ROM (It will require a custom recovery, tripping KNOX counter) without the bloat.
The choice comes down to you, another last resort if you don't want to trip KNOX would be to flash a neighbouring country's firmware.

Basically I am from Cyprus but I'm currently studying in the UK. So what's the difference between the various firmwares ? I thought that only the one that is the same as the country you bought the phone is compatible.

Different country firmware can be flashed only sometimes it fails (nothing to worry about) in that case you might have re-package the firmware. Meaning you put the CSC from your country into the firmware.
Anyhow I would you to flash this firmware via Odin:

After downloading the firmware extract the file inside (using WinRar or equivalent)
A factory reset might be required to back-up everything from your phone as the internal storage will be wiped.
Uninstall Samsung Kies, install these USB drivers: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347849220
Download Odin: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347836222
Power down your phone, hold volume down key + Home key and power on the device. Press volume up to continue when promoted.
Connect your phone to your PC via USB.
Run Odin as admin and and put the extracted firmware file in AP and press start.
The phone should now reboot, let it do it's thing. If after around 10 minutes it's still at the Samsung screen.
Power off the device hold volume up + home + Power the device on and using the volume keys select wipe data and cache, then reboot.

GPS has gone whack

Hey guys,
Have been running a 4.4 ROM for a while (900i) and I finally bit the bullet and installed Phoenix Rom (900F).
It worked fantastically (aside from the NFC). I did notice the GPS failed to hookup. This was a problem so I restored my kitkat backup. However....
The GPS now no longer works!!? I download an original Kitkat Rom for my provider (optus) off Sammobile. Flashed with it with Odin and still it fails to connect.
Googling has led me to no immediate resolutions. I flashed 4.4 stock again with Odin and did a 5.0 Lollipop update OTA in hope that it would fix things.
It hasn't worked thus far. Was hopefing someone would know what was going on or could provide me with some guidance.

Only other thing I can think of is to grab the correct PIT file for your model S5, flash that and a stock ROM at the same time using ODIN
If it still doesn't work after that, it sounds like a hardware issue
You say your phone is the G900I? And you flashed a G900F ROM to it?
Other than that, make sure other devices can get a GPS lock, make sure it's not just the weather stopping it working

Not exactly sure where to get the correct PIT file to flash.
I'll try disabling all weather settings though, didn't think of that one. Cheers

And I meant the weather outside stopping the phone seeing the satellites, heavily cloudy days can cause problems sometimes, but check settings, connections, location, is set to high accuracy

EDIT: Running it again. Appears to be running. I think my USB hub died which is why it 'failed'. Installing applications now and will post back as to whether the GPS is working or not.
I actually have a place to be which is why I'm desperately trying to fix things.
Unfortunately it hasn't fixed the GPS. I'll have to print out the Google Maps instructions.
EDIT 2: Tried this:
Open Phone, as if you were going to make a phone call and dial -
*#9090# (*#197328640# if that doesn't work)
Menu, select Key Input, enter Q
Menu, select Key Input, enter 0000
wait for the next menu. (It takes a while.)
UMTS->COMMON->NV REBUILD->NV REBUILD->SYSTEM->PROTOCOL->GPS->IMS
or, if you don't have UMTS:
UE SETTINGS & INFO->SETTING->SYSTEM->NV REBUILD->ALL

No cigar. Will to another factory reset when I have a chance.
EDIT 3: Did another factory reset through the menu and it said location set my GPS. I nearly fell over!

Hi there , i've had the same problem when installing a custom rom like PopWiz Telstra or other rom don't no why but this fix works for me every time :
Install latest rooted TW (original Samsung Touch wiz rom) like (Alexandr ROM )
Install from play store Shortcut Master or Phone Info
Open ‘Secret Code Explorer’ menu, scroll down to 27663368378 and launch it (select ‘Launch 0’, root is required).
Then select the latest menu option Hardware sensors
Then the latest option restore (rebuild) NVRAM (or something like that. I’m writing this from my memory )
Reboot the phone
Try GPS – it should work
I have just copy paste it from a site in works like a charm on g900f

Alright. I'm unhappy with the Optus Lollipop 5.0 stock. I can't install xposed because its odexed so I'm going back to the Phoenix 900F!
This time I'm going to install it with TWRP.
Will then go through the troubleshooting attempts in an attempt to have a GREAT rom with a fully functional GPS!~

My brother has just offered me a s7 edge SM-G935F / 32G, Rom stock without operator that he used for 2 months after purchase.
My pb is that after resertting this phone, then reboot, I am asked the google account with which this phone was syncing (it's of my bro). Normal!
Then I enter the data account google of my brother and then Passwords ... and there, a verification code sent him that communicates me by sms after receiving.
But helas, every time I get it, the phenomenon is repeated and so I can not use the phone for use!
My idea was to flash the last ROM Stock...but no way, the pb is always the same...the warning message !
For info, the dl and recovery mode are operational but I am without root so without TWRP and other ++++
However, the dev mode of the system is not activated too ...

You are facing FRP issue which is factory reset protection security feature by google..So everytime you will reset your device, you will be askd for the same google account which was previously added to device..Are you on marshmallow or nougat? IF your phone is functioning well then enable developers option by pressing build no for 7-8 times from software info you will find in about device from settings..After enabling developers option enable Oem unlocking..Hope this will help you..You can also flash latest stock firmware for your device usinh odin after enabling Oem unlocking from developers option

I'm in nougat because i have flash the latest Rom Stock yet with odin (4 files) + factory restet!
But the pb is the same...because i can't enable Oem unlocking from developers option by pressing build no for 7-8 times from software info
I have no access to do that, My procedure stops until the moment to put the login of gmail ... I do not go beyond that after the flash !
Another idea pl?
How can i enable Oem option directly by odin for example?
I can't flash custom rom because of it too...

Just download latest 7.0 stock firmware for your device from sammobile.com though your already on nougat..firmwares there are updated according to security patches timely..so my suggestion is download latest nougat firmware for your model and country and flash usinh odin as described above..You will boot normally...If after flashing latest nougat if your device stuck at Samsung logo i.e. called bootloop..Press volume up+power +home button, you will boot into stock recovery..from there choose wipe data/factory reset option..you will boot up normally..

Go ti video reference and follow the steps carefully hope it will help you..Or another tricks are there to overcomd FRP issue i.e. using adb commands and otg cable..You can search on google.

when i read the differents backs experiences...there's apparently a pb with the camera step way!
They said "On Samsung Galaxy s6 Edge plus there is no camera when you restart the phone. What's the Problem?"

I realize that this video is no longer current because dating several months ... besides, nothing makes clear if this manupulations was made under Nougat or old versions ...
Recent updates may have blocked it, hence the large number of errors identified ...
