[Q] Nexus 4 wallpapers - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys,
sorry if this has been asked before, ive been looking at some of the wallpapers on my colour screen (in particular the holo cards)
all is fine except the wallpaper is not set to the nexus 4 dimensions, I have tried
redo this on photoshop but to no success as not really sure on the dimensions needed, my question is does anyone know the dimensions of the
nexus 4 screen so that I can edit the images as I spent at least 3 hours on Sunday to no avail!!
thanks

Did you look in "Nexus 4 Themes and Apps" section?

Dark Background/Battery Life Correlation?

Hello all,
First time poster here with a pretty simple /silly question... If you use darker backgrounds, reading apps, themes, etc... (as opposed to bright /light ones) does it save battery life? I read somewhere that it doesn't matter and that the screen uses the same amount of power regardless. I also read though that some types of screens are able to turn the black pixels off saving battery life.
Thanks for any input.

For amoled screens a little bit but LCD I don't think so.

Excuse my ignorance but what type of screen does the N7 have?
Thanks for the help.

LCD.
Yep, with an amoled display you can save some percents(the exact value differs over the display/phone/app used) over a darker background due to the techique used. With a lcd display the only thing that influences the battery time is the screen on time and the brightness.(of course this two points also count for the amoled)
Thanks everyone!

Night clock & burn-in concern

Hey guys,
I decided that I want to have a simple clock app running at night when my N7 is plugged in. I searched the market and found a lot of options; some with some cool features like "shake or tap to read time" and some with a flashlight built in.
Anyway, do I need to be concerned about "burn-in" with the Nexus 7's screen? (I didn't see any apps where the time bounced around like an old school screensaver on a CRT monitor!) I'm guessing this just isn't an issue with these screens, but I wanted to make sure.
Finally, does anybody have an app they like for this? Or a specific feature to look for?
Thanks!
Billy

I'm happy using the regular clock. It works I landscape, and when you touch the screen, it dims down.

BEWARE !! I just found a burn-in on my screen because of this, and I still don't know if it's going or staying ... damn defects !

[Q] Yellow Wallpaper Link

Isn't it odd that the yellow wallpaper used on the phone for almost all the ads and on the play store isn't present on the phone?
Does anyone have the a link to that wallpaper ?
Thanks.
Ermmm, it's there? At least on mine it is

One of them looks similar but its colors are very washed out. Please post a link if you have it. Thanks.

Resizing bootanimation

Hello was wondering how to go about resizing a boot animation from my nexus 4 to my nexus 5. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks

your best bet probably is to turn them all into vectors then resize them then use something like boot animation factory to make it into a boot animation
Edit the desc.txt in the zip file. The top line should be width, height, fps. I've had bad luck with this on KitKat on my device though. I use the Nexus Particles one (not the blue n4 one) and resized it. Works fine on every 1080 device except this one and I can't figure out why.
Thanks for reply. If there are any detailed guides out there id love to see them. I'm currently running nexus particles on my device now but would love to have my nexus lines boot animation back

Boot animation help

A couple years ago, back when I had the HTC Evo4g, Crackanug made a boot animation at my request. I still have the file, bit the animation isn't sized properly for the Nexus 4. Would anyone be up to the task of resizing the file? Of course, it would be available for anyone to use.
I just need to figure out how to add the file with the XDA app...
Edit: here's the link to the animation, if anyone is up to it: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bz99F3aNUgdGWUI5dTh4bzZINjg/edit?usp=docslist_api

I somehow can't open your link...
I will try to repost the file.

The pictures all have low resolutions. It wouldn't look good on a Nexus 4 if I scale it up to make it fit. Do you still wanna do it? May I ask, if there are higher res pics?
Btw, ice-hockey ftw

I have no idea about higher res pictures. The animation was completely created by crackanug.

But it would really looks pixelated on a N4. Believe me you could count every pixel if I scale it up. It is really a waste on a HD screen...
Anyway, stay tuned for the next days. I will work on it.

Cool... I put it into my phone, and was shocked at how small the images were... Was hoping it would be something easy (a change in the desc file, etc.). Would be nice to get this one on my nexus 4... I do understand the limitation with pixels though.

Here is the bootanimation. There are two versions, a fullscreen one and a default one. Try them out and give me feedback. I hope you like it!

So very sorry for not getting back sooner. Was in the process of moving (from Dallas to Denver). I will check these out and report back... Thanks for all you have done.

The default one looks amazing. The only issue is size. That being said, the resolution is to notch.
The full screen one looks good too. AD you said, it is a bit pixelated, but not so much that our destroys the animation. I wouldn't want to watch a movie with that level of pixelation, but for the short amount of time it is actually seen, the quality looks good.
