My Nexus One will not charge at all and when I try to plug it into the computer it is not being recognized. The phone itself works but it's running low on power. The last thing I did was flash to CM 6.0.0-RC2 and it worked fine last night and all day today up until a few hours ago. Is there a stock ROM or anything I can do to re-flash the radio and image to see if that helps? Please help ASAP, thanks.

Are you sure you didn't mess up the USB port in the device itself?
Wipe and go back to CM5.08
Wipe and go back to full stock. If it still has a problem its a hardware fault and you should try to use the waranty. Flashing 5.08 or any other custom rom will still leave u in doubt it may be the ROM. Also when/if you do send it back for waranty it'll look alot better if you have stock on it - even if the bootloader is unlocked.
I don't think it will be covered under warranty if the bootloader is unlocked. I was able to put the battery in another one and charge it long enough to put it back to stock. I believe my only option would be to send it back and pay for the repair or buy a dock and charge it that way. Can someone point me to the correct stock ROM just in case I didn't do the right one? I'll have to find a way to charge it up before doing so. I'm open to other suggestions also if anyone has any. It just really sucks that I may have to pay for it because this clearly seems like a hardware problem. It's weird when plugging it into a computer a message will come up about not enough power so the computer is somewhat recognizing it but I can't do anything with it.
Can't you just use wall charger?
I've tried a wall charger, the car charger, and USB and neither of them charge. The computer recognizes it or at least see's some device but I get a message about low power on a USB port.
Have you tried this?

This makes me think that you have an electrical problem. If it is pulling down the voltage on your PC there could be a short in the micro-USB port or something else wrong with the charging system.
A dock would be a good test to see if it is actually the port or something deeper. Watch to see if it heats up too much when charging (it will heat up to some degree but it could get seriously hot if there is an issue).
The phone does not get warm at all when plugged into either a charger or USB port. And @cue_32 I have downloading the original shipping ROM but I have my battery charging in someone else's phone before I can put it back to factory. I have a few things I want to try and see if I can get this thing to come back to life. I don't know anyone that has a dock so I can't really test that part out.
Sounds like the connection of one of the power pins on USB port is broken. That would also result in the phone not being recognized, since without having VBUS it won't detect USB attach and won't start the connection.
I suggest returning the phone for a warranty repair, unless you want a phone without functional USB.
That's what I'm going to do is send it in. It sounds more of a hardware issue and should not have been caused by rooting the phone. I have never overclocked the phone and the only 2 programs I installed that required root access was Wireless Tether and ROM Manager. So hopefully the repair goes well and next time hopefully I can root without unlocking the bootloader. I really don't need root but it's nice to have ROM manager and CynogenMod installed.
Well it appears that the charging port is bad and they want to charge me almost 200 dollars. Apparently this is not covered because it is customer induced damage. I guess I wasn't allowed to plug it in to charge it and sync it. I don’t understand this because it was never dropped or anything. HTC used to be very good but now they are getting worse in my opinion. I had a HTC Dash 3G that the microphone didn't work good and they told me it was opened so they could not cover it when I didn't open it up at all.
Anyone want a Nexus One that doesn't charge? It should charge in a dock but I'm not 100% sure. HTC can kiss all of my business goodbye after all this. Time to go with a motorola or samsung android phone.
If you try to escalate your claim with HTC, I think they might be persuaded to fix your phone for free. Sometimes the lower level guys are pretty stingy, but some of the managers are more likely to hook you up.

I have talked to 2 supervisors and that got me no where. In fact if I didn't call them every other day I have a feeling I'd still be waiting. When I had an iPhone I had a replacement the next day but now it's just over 3 weeks and I am still without my phone. I went ahead and had them charge my CC and I'll just dispute the charge and ask for pictures. I am always careful with my phones and have never had one break like this. This whole thing is just frustrating. I'm tempted on returning my wifes HTC EVO and getting the Samsung moment or Epic.
My nook can not work now. I updated the version from 1.0.1 to 1.1.0. It runs well at the first day. But it crushed in the second day. I can not enter the system, it stops at the interfaces of "read forever", "nook", "drag to login" or black, write, gray screens. After that, I accidentally found that it can work when charging. So I degrade it and restore to the factory default to 1.0.1. But unfortunately, although the bartery is 100% charged, it doesn't work without plug in charging cable. In a word, it works only if connecting to power supply.
When the Nook is running and all happy on the charger cable, what happens when you pull the connector out?
Does it die immediately or slowly or what?
If you want, you can install this app, which among other things shows info about your battery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25613941&postcount=215
(Don't push any buttons except for the "Close" button.)
You might just have a battery that died young.
Thank you very much, it dies immediately after pull out the connector.
And it restarted only if plugin the charge cable again.
How to install that app? Shall I root it first?
If I root it, can I get the warranty again?

Yes, you need to root to install apps.
You can always do a factory reset afterwards.
From the tales I have heard people tell, B&N doesn't look too closely on warranty returns.
(They might reject mine though, I drilled a hole in the back. )

If this is a new device, I would just take it back. A new device shouldn't be doing this on stock firmware. You've got 14 days to exchange for a new (not refurb) unit, so I'd do it immediately.
If it were out of warranty, it might be worth rooting and trying to figure out exactly what's wrong, but if it is under warranty, I think all you're going to do is confirm that you have a problem. Although they might not detect the rooting, why risk it when you have a legitimate defect?
I just want you guys to help me diagnose the problem.
I was charging my phone yesterday with a cheap car charger.
My phone now produces lots of heat, eats lots of current (discharges quickly) and USB is not working (only charging).
I tried flashing different radios, kernels, stock rom and factory reset - didn't help.
Plugging a phone into Ubuntu PC doesn't add any logs about new USB device in dmesg, even in fastboot mode.
My questions:
1. What can cause SoC to produce heat and to discarge battery very quickly?
2. Is it a failure of a USB board or of the SoC itself?
I have two options on eBay: logic board and usb board.
It would be great to buy a 16GB motherboard instead of my current 8GB, but I want to address the problem with less money spent on it.
I don't know which one to buy.
same problem
Unforunetly I don't have a solution for you, I have been experiencing the same problem since last week. My phone no longer charges in AC mode, I can't connect it to any PC (fastboot doesn't work), and the battery is draining fast (from Phone Idle process). It is warm when the screen is off. I am on Android 4.3, it was working fine up until last week.
I'm about ready to RMA it, however it's interesting that I am not the only one experiencing this problem lately.

I'm not sure what caused it, I have a feeling it's similar to what happened to yours. I use a blackberry car charger in my car, and at work I use a non LG AC charger. So I'm thinking it was the car charger, but the weird thing is it has been working fine with both chargers for 6+ months.

Another thing is that I was installing a faux kernel 3 days ago, but it didn't cause these symptoms instantaneously (instead, it made my nexus super power-efficient), so I don't think that was the cause, too.
P.S. Google's RMA policy doesn't allow to return phones after 15 days, so I think the best choice would be to buy a broken phone and interchange the parts.

I haven't used any custom kernels or ROMs. I am rooted with custom recovery though.
There is a 1 year warranty on the phone, and I am within that 1 year so I hope to be able to get a replacement. This appears to be a hardware problem.
edit: Have you tried taking the battery out? In previous phones when stuff like this would happen I was able to pull the battery out. I tried to open my phone but it's a pain to pry open without breaking something.

No, but I will do this tomorrow. I don't know if this helps.
P.S. Sometimes I get this in dmesg:
Code:
[738145.499853] hub 2-1:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 8
...which is not good either.
Well, I tried removing the battery - that didn't help.
What actually helped, is the following:
1. Bought cheap broken nexus.
2. Exchanged motherboard and usb board with my existing device.
3. Sold broken nexus for cheaper price.
4. ...Profit!
Now my nexus works again, and more than that, it has 16gb instead of 8gb. It wasn't hard.
I'm happy now.
I have been unable to boot up my letv 1s device, I have tried everything listed on this forum and other forum to boot up my letv device. Including removing the battery and reconnect them back again.
Recently, I tried to repair it to local phone repair shop, they told me it needs a battery replacement. I bought the battery from aliexpress and replaced them, but it still doesnt boot up.
The repair shop gave up and gave me back the phone and told me the EMMC is weak (I'm not sure about this).
I disassembly the phones and try to figure out the problem, I am guessing the problem might be with the charging board, I am posting the video here hoping someone pro could help me solve the problem. I'm guessing its the charging board because everytime I connect the device to the PC, it kept reconnecting when I tried to FLash a new ROM.
Here are the video of the board kept reconnecting when I tried to connect them to PC

I really hope someone with more experience could give me more insight about this, thanks.
PS: Please dont ask me to charge the phone again with original adapter and cable, because thats the first thing I tried and I charge it for more than 24 hours already (I even tried to buy a new adapter and usb type-c cable). Oh and I tried connecting to PC with the battery connected also, and it kept reconnecting.
Hi, I also have same problem, but still no solution.
Hi @casper2201 , @softkans and any one with the same issue,
I too had the same issue. It started with the charging rate becoming too slow (1% increment in 25 minutes of charging). I switched off the phone and left to charge for around 35 hours straight and came to find it 79% charged. Then I tried flashing the LOS14 after LOS13 ROMs but in vain. I also fiddled with the Kernel Adiutor, still no help. The charge won't increase when the phone is on so I left it to discharge until it switched off. Then the main issue showed up with red light always on when charging and blank screen.
I also posted about it here, but no one replied. Then I took a leap of faith and went to a local repair shop. He confirmed that it was a hardware problem and the charging module needs to be replaced. Just now I am coming from the shop itself after picking up my phone. Its working fine till now *fingers crossed*. He charged me ₹1300 ($20) which is a little high for the service but it doesn't matter as he was the only one ready to open it as there was the risk of cracking the screen.
So, summing it up, if you have the same problem as that of mine then you need to replace your charging module and I think it will be fine.
Charging module replaced.
Current condition of phone.
The rubber bands will help the adhesive strengthen.
Thanks,
Abhishek

Yesterday when I was done with setting up my phone, I put it to charge and the same issue has come again. Its not charging and the "Red light of Death" is back. Today I'm going to the repair shop again and see what he can do now.
I think this is the end and there is no point throwing away more money on the device anymore.

Sir same thing happened with me....phone is not charging red light alert and display blank...please suggest me what can I do
I want my data back from that and its not starting my data is really very important I can't loose that
Help me and tell me what can i do so that my data will not loose and my phone starts
Remove display and disconnect battery. If it won't be alive again that's probably power management unit problem and you won't fix that way.
Hey guys, I see there are similar threads but those do not fit my situation. I manually pushed the update (most recent developer preview, after I/o) and my 6p will no longer charge. It also isn't recognized by my PC unless it is in bootloader mode. I tried clearing cache, and reverting back to N. With no luck. Now my battery is completely dead and I can't do anything.
I'm thinking of ordering a replacement battery (hoping it has some life when I receive it) and replacing the battery and trying to troubleshoot. Any suggestions as to what I have done? Or how to fix? I feel it must be a firmware issue.

Use fastboot to flash the latest TWRP recovery, boot to recovery and charge it from there. If it won't charge from recovery, either the battery is stone dead (doesn't happen overnight) or there is a hardware issue with your USB port/daughterboard.
I do not have enough power to to even get into recovery. I'm ordering a new battery and daughter board. Unless anyone had other suggestions....?
Did you check if your USB cable works on both sides of your port ? If the port or cabel could be your issue ?
Does your charger and cabel work on other phones ?
