Swype? Custom ROM?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Thumb Keyboard has it. I'd have thought Swiftkey being such a popular one also has it

SwiftKey does have it in fact I just swiped this message with it, I just don't like how you can't swipe all the time so that's why I want the 4.2 keyboard to have long press features

Asus screen shot ability on Nexus 7?

Is there anyway to get the Asus screen shot shortcut (press and hold recent apps) on the Nexus 7?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Press Power and Volume Down simultaneously.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I am aware of power and volume down, but the design of the buttons combined with the folio case make it hard to access them. I am looking for an on screen shortcut like Asus uses on the TF300. Thanks.

Do you mean something like this. I don't know if you can add to the power menus on stock.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yes, something like that would be great.

What ROM are you using.....I doubt it is possible on stock.
Sent from my BNTV250 using xda premium
You can do that with AOKP
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Kaos Droid has that too.

I found an app called "Screenshot It" that adds a shortcut to the notification area. Thanks everyone for the input.
yeah AOKP has a power menu option to add it when you hold the power button, very easy to use
If your device is rooted, you can use a program called utter! (a voice activated assistant with a lot of voice commands that runs in the background). Shake your device to wake up utter! and say "Take a screenshot". Most commands in utter! do not require a rooted device but a few do.
If your ok aokp, you can change a softkey to a screen shot one. Really cool.

How to do double letters gesture typing?

Hi just wondering if anyone can help me out. An example of my problem is i was using gesture typing and tried to spell off. But could not get the second "f" all it would do is "of"
Is there anyting we have to do to assure this doesn't happen?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Try making a circle on the doubled letter. That works on Swype.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
That was the first thing i tried
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
All I have to do is pause on the letter I want duplicated. If that doesn't work try to go back and forth over it

Using keyboard on other device

If I extract the keyboard from a ROM, can I use it on my n7? I prefer the layout of stock phone keyboard over tablet but I'm loving swipe and don't want to give it up!
P.s. yes I'm rooted so I would just push it to the right place, just making sure it would be compatible

I'm pretty sure the 4.2 keyboard was ported to 4.1 already.

That's not my problem, I'm on 4.2, but I prefer the phone's keyboard layout over the tablet's keyboard layout, and someone made a keyboard for the N7 with phone layout, but I'm wondering if this works too

Thanks for the heads up on swiftkey tablet. Generally I use a swype style including stock 4.2 so I'm quite happy to give this a go.
Prediction seems well equipped for my style of misspellings lol!

I tried SwiftKey Tablet hut didn't like it... I don't really remember why... Anyway, I just use SwiftKey like I have on my phone. I rarely type in landscape, anyway, so the keys are a great size for me to type.

Kii looks good but it doesn't have face book, Gmail and sms sync which SwiftKey has.
You should take a look at "Hackers Keyboard" from the Playstore. It features a full 5row keyboard with tab, arrow keys and much more useful keys. It's perfect for use with terminals.
cheers phk

+1 for the kii keyboard.
for the tablet it is the best i've used so far.
MessagEase has been my favorite keyboard since my old HandSpring. It looks strange, and you have to practice a bit to get your speed up, but it is fast and hugely customizable.

Been using this for a while; started using it after a few days of using the stock keyboard and getting tired of it. I really like it.
I'm currently using SwiftKey Tablet, really nice keyboard. I decided to use it because I was bored of the stock one (stock keyboard isn't that bad after all, but I wanted to try something new).
I have to say I am happy with the 4.2 stock keyboard.
I was using the Swype Beta - for the good voice engine.
I still use the voice engine...

I've heard thumb keyboard is good its all up to the user in the end. Personally I think the stock keyboard is perfect at 160 DPI.

I switch between Swiftkey and kii keyboard.. while the kii is still in beta, you get the split layout in landscape and other goodies.. and yeah, both support themes..
