[trick] (battery mod) - XPERIA X10 General

Tired of watching your battery getting drained? Each morning you switch on your phone?
What if inatead of getting diacharged your battery gets magically charged ? Doesnt it sounds great xD
We'll now you cannn .... here just folllow the quick easy steps.
1.Purchase/Dowload-
Antutu CPU master app from market or some other source
.check on set on booot box.
2. Open The App and set the freq the way you want...
Than go to profiles..
3.check on set on booot box.
In profiles there'll be an option of Screen Off .
in screen off profile set the min and max freq as lowest as possible .for example - 128mhz in min and max both.
And set the scaling model to ondemand/powersaver mode.
Result: you'll actually be suprised the way it'll automatically
charge/save
your battery overnight or whenever youll keep your phone's screeen off
Enjoyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Dont forget to press THANKS BUTTON IM JUST A NEWBIE WITH THIS WEIRD TRICK ILL ADD MORE IF ILL GET TO KNOW SOME....

It's very bad profile at my opinion. If you listening to music you'll get freeze and must to reboot the phone sometimes. Just let your phone get to deep sleep and you don't need any profile. You must only close all unused apps before you go to bed and your phone make better profile than min freq of CPU.
And as you said "Charge/save". That happens when your battery is cooling down after big effort. You can recover even 30% at night, thats normal ;]
I'm using screen off profile too but on 245-768 freqs(smartassV2) because im using DSP manager and beats+SRS mod and that addons need some power to work properly ;d
I think this help ;d

Useless thread and WRONG section.

Im using DonutHD rom and it charges overnight approximately 20% in deep sleep i also using doomkernel witho no overclock for unlocked bootloder

music works fine in mine .. :/

XPERIA X10i 1800mAh battery lasts for over 5 days.
The OP was on the right track, but may not be considering the wider ramifications of the XPERIA X10i.
At best an off screen profile with a governor with modest MHz frequency increase steps and quick decrease is the best you can hope for.
I have a Mugen Power 1800mAh battery in my XPERIA X10i
I am using SetCPU with profiles enabled/configured, a stock GB ROM and DoomKernel v6 and a heavily modified build.prop file.
My default SetCPU profile is:
Max: 1113MHz
Min: 192Mhz
Governor: SmartAssv2
Scheduler: SIO
Using SetCPU I have a Screen Off profile.
Max: 756MHz
Min: 192Mhz
Governor: Powersave
Scheduler: SIO
If you attempt to use a CPU frequency of 128MHz there is every chance your phone will not come out of sleep or it will FC and/or reboot attempting to start a background process.
And here's a picture girls and boys.
The phone was generally left to idle with only modest to light use.

Can you share me your so called heavily modified build.prop?

I can do that.
Even better, I can share a really good[in my view] XPERIA S home launcher install zip with all the XPERIA S(LT26i) apps which got lost in time for those on a stock (or derivative of) XPERIA X10i GB 2.3.3 build
Has the AccuWeather Widget, XPERIA music player with equalizer and apps of the XPERIA S when is was on GB 2.3
XPERIA S apps on stock V2 & BEATS
In the first page of this XPERIA S apps installation page there is the zip install to download, which would then be installed by xRecover.
If you open this zip on a PC and then navigate to /system folder you will see a build.prop file.
You can then just install the build.prop file (or even better the parts you feel have relevance to you) on your XPERIA X10i.
Remember, if you just install this overwriting your old build.prop. you will wipe ALL the settings you had previously in your build.prop file.
It's not a good idea to overwrite your existing build.prop file, so PLEASE use some common sense and at the VERY LEAST have a backup copy of your original build.prop file.
The few build.prop changes will probably have minimal impact on your battery life as even the collapse setting has minimal effect, but I leave it in as I like the look of it. The build.prop setting 'may' improve other part of the overall picture though.
pm.sleep_mode=1
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0
I culled all 'boatware' like Facebook, twitter, email.apk, gmail.apk, gtalk and etc until I was down to and beyond the minimum system apps found in DonutHD v2.3
The only background process I have is email (Kaiten mail...cause it has a red mail box), 3G watchdog pro and maybe Google Services, mobile data always disabled unless needed, think I still have WCDMA preferred. Sync as little as possible.
The big battery saver is SetCPU profiles and using specific governors and clocking to appropriately manage CPU use during different work loads.
AND least we forget. I HAVE A GOOD BATTERY!!!! I have a Mugen Power 1800mAh battery which is only one year old.
If you're not able to equal of better my battery life, you'll probably NEVER realize any 'amazing' improvements in line with what I get in pure battery life, if your battery is not up to snuff.
Running at 100% CPU my battery lasts for 3hrs 17mins with 19% battery life left as seen in AnTuTu tester
Mobile phone battery life is just a reflection of the usage of your phone, the quality of your battery and can at best, only be complemented by a few setting and configurations. It's more to do with the applications you're running and poor ROM CPU clock settings than anything. {Me thinks]
All in all she's a pretty big job and that's why it's bit of a black art as no two phones are setup the same once user apps are added and owners are let loose on their phones..

will try

I just want your build.prop file

x10 uses ondemand cpu scaling 245 - 998 mhz stock, do not use setcpu

just wanted to let everyone know this, as there are still plenty of threads out there that suggest setcpu, and it's a waste of time
Thanks dan, where you been stranger?

so what does it mean? it's doing what setcpu does? what about battery and temperature profiles? what if i want to force the cpu to use a lower clock speed to conserve battery?
I never understood SetCPU myself. The CPU is only used when required, so creating all these settings likely does nothing.
I'd consider it for overclocking, if that was possible.
I was also informed that our phones should do this anyway but I was suspicious of how well it does, being on 1.6 and butchered by SE after all.. it made a good deal of difference before the update.
Trying it without the update now and we'll see how it goes. Completely removed it and power cycled. Will bump in a few days with my results.
I found android got extremely laggy on 1.6 with setcpu. and I use a temp/cpu widget to keep tabs on stock behavior, my cpu sits at 245 most of the time, except when I'm using the phone

What widget do you use?
I took a quick look on the Market and AppBrain, and couldn't find anything to track/plot CPU clock to see what the phone's doing while in standby.
I do use SystemPanel, but it doesn't plot CPU clock over time, only usage.
Try advanced task manager it shows cpu speed...

I'm not looking for a way to see the speed. SystemPanel will do that. I'm looking for a plot that shows the cpu speed over time, so I can see how and when it changes.

so what is SetCPU doing then? draining the battery? or is it affecting the charging process?
and what about the app CoolS? its almost the same thing as SetCPU but the only thing you can do is slow the CPU down
You can use SetCPU to:
1. Overclock (but not on X10)
2. Underclock (you know you go somewhere for 2 days and forgot the charger at home)
3. Make profiles to lower CPU freq when temp is too high
For day by day use, i'm ok with android's ondemand scaling.
use android hackers apk. thereu can see theCPU over time...
Sent from my Rooted X10i using Tapatalk
i use setcpu to underclock my X10 to 5xx mhz when the screen is off.
my batt usage is better, from 3-5% per hour to below 2%.
I've been using overclock widget to keep it to 998mhz to see if it would make a difference in quadrant. Recently i uninstalled it and i still get about the same benchmark score.

SetCPU configuration

Hello,
I just installed SetCPU and configured some profiles. I'd like to hear comments about them:
Screen Off 83/83
Charging 667/83
Battery < 15% 83/83
Battery < 30% 222/83
What do you think of setting 83/83? Too low?
How can I overclock?
I'd like to set a profile for temperature controlling, what is considered a high temp?
Thanks!
I would like to know about this as well. How has those settings worked out for you so far?
Using 83/83 was way too slow. When I had screen off and wanted to turn it back on, it would take too long.
I'm currently using these profiles (in order off priority):
Charging 667/83 (ondemand)
Screen off 222/83 (conservative)
Battery <30% 222/83 (conservative)
I haven't figured out how to overclock yet.

For overclocking we would nees a custom kernel that supports overclocking.

Do you get lag after turning the screen on?
I used to have anipet Aquarium Live Wallpaper + ADW Launcher EX, and had huge lag when turning the screen on - with 222/83. I stopped using the Live Wallpaper, and it got better, but there's still lag sometimes. I don't know how heavy ADW Launcher EX is, if it is it's fault or not.
Using performance scaling, if I'm not mistaken (the documentation page of setcpu is down) forces the cpu to always run at the max frequency, so it'd be the same as setting the max and min frequency as the same value, right?
I'll give a try at using conservative instead of ondemand and see if I get less lag, though I'd expect exactly the opposite!
What's the point on downclocking the CPU while using the phone ? I mean, 333mhz makes me think i bought a chinese phone (And not a cool one like the ZTE Blade).

i have undeclocked it coz i want a longer "ON" time...i am texting and callin ppl most of the time so battery lasts jus for a day.i don't wanna charge it everyday.plus using at 333 isnt so bad..i don't play games(much)...and even when i do(angry birds, paper toss) it works fine...u will get used to it....and whats the point in overclocking this phone? with a crappy resolution no HD game will run on it.
the only thing that sucks at low speeds is the gallery.however this can be "solved" by using the Quickpic app.it's better organized and hella fast.but it lacks the fancy looks...
@iomartin..there is no delay or lag and i have disabled the lock screen also.i use go launcher btw.

Wow thanks for this. I used these settings except for the last one (underclocking when the cellphone is being used)
Last time I recharged was 63 hours ago, and battery indicator still shows 50% left! I have:
- Watched an episode of Kenny vs Spenny (640x480)
- Played ~1h of games
- Surfing + downloading ~30min on Wi-Fi
- Installed ~ 10 apps
- Texted about 50 messages
- Made about a total of 10 minutes of calls
- Sent songs through bluetooth for.. ~10 minutes
- Listened to music for about ~30 mins
Still 50% left? Amazing. Of course this can (or is) a problem with the crappy indicator and it can quickly decrease to ~15 in a heartbeat, but it still is pretty amazing.
Phone says it has been on for 73 hours, I wonder if that's the actual time I recharged it for the last time, or if It's the last time it was charged?
Once again thanks for those profiles. First time I used the app I reckon setting the same but I used OnDemand scaling (What's the difference between these btw?) and It lagged like hell when I turned the screen on again. None of that happens now, the phone works the same way as if it had normal clock speeds.
Oh and I don't use 3G and I've got APNDroid blocking all internet connections. I wonder if that does anything to the battery life?
EDIT: Now I used some bluetooth for 15 mins and made few calls and it got bumped down to 15% and told me to recharge. Guess It'd still work for about 6 hours on stand-by but still the battery life for me was ~67hrs, whilst being ~48 before.

SetCPU vs. CMSettings Built-in CPU manager

For those of you on CM7 (preferably RC2 or later nightlies), are you using SetCPU or the built in CMSettings CPU manager? Which is giving you better performance/battery life?
I can't help but think that the built in CM Settings CPU tuner is going to be conflicting with my SetCPU profiles.
Been using nightlies since #30 or so, and I currently run SetCPU with a normal profile, a screen off profile, and a profile for <10% battery and haven't touched CMSettings' CPU manager.
I'm contemplating just uninstalling SetCPU for a day or two and seeing what a 1017max / 245min Ondemand or Powersave governor via CMSettings ends up doing to my battery life considering there will be no screen off profile.
Any thoughts?
I dumped setCPU after a lot of testing (and even bought it on market)
I'm finding I'm much happier using inbuilt CPU settings. I think battery life is the same but performance is better due to the fact that SetCPU would sometimes get stuck in my screen-off profile when turned on causing the phone to be really slow.
I recomend uninstalling setCPU, set your ONDEMAND governor with ~1Ghz and run it... You'll find your battery about the same but much less hassle.
I have yet to try that, I somewhat feel obligated to use SetCPU since I purchased it lol. But it probably won't be the last time I waste money at the market.

I've been wondering about this too. I don't quite understand how it works. Can I just set the frequency higher till a certain point without changing the voltage and get the same battery life?
What's the best way of doing this? Just change the clock speed or do I need to change something else or update the kernel?
Whatever you tell SetCPU to do, you'll see the same settings mirrored in the CM settings.
I say setCPU cuz as battery gets lower... I have my CPU speed lower also. Basically, 15% battery lasts me forever :] lol

Definitely. This is the one thing I like about SetCPU is having the 10% and 5% profiles so that I can get the last few % to last forever if I need it. Although in normal day-to-day use I'm never pushing it below 20%.

Yea I see this, as far as the governor changing etc.. This is why I'm wondering if it would be easier on my phone to just run only the CM Settings one.
I notice that every 5th or so time I unlock the phone, there is an obvious lag switching from the screen off profile, and my unlock sliders jitter around and it takes 4-5 tries to unlock the phone. I think this is probably partially due to both settings switching over trying to change.
I think I might try backing up and uninstalling SetCPU for tomorrow to see how it goes.

I've read on here that overclocking the Vision's CPU up to 1 GHz requires no over-volting, and in theory should not affect battery life (but not sure exactly where that information originates from). But there has been lots of debate on these forums on whether the SetCPU app helps or hurts battery life depending on screen-off profiles (underclocking to save battery) or its constant polling of the CPU clock (possibly killing the battery faster).
A kernel that supports overclocking is already part of the CM ROM. If you are on CM, you can just adjust the clock speed under Settings>CM Settings>Performance>CPU settings. Or set the CPU clock using an app like SetCPU. Choosing one method over the other is what is being asked/debated here. If you are on the stock ROM, you need to be rooted, flash a custom kernel that supports overclocking, then install an app such as SetCPU or CPU Tuner to set the CPU clock to your liking.

I'm not sure about CM's kernel with the over-volting but I do know that Pershoots kernel can be overclocked to 979mhz without over-volting (Pershoot told me himself).

Well obviously.... But why the hell would you ever need to be running at 1.8ghz? The fact that you are always using a temp-specific profile method should show you that consistent 1.8ghz isn't good for the phone...
Okay so I uninstalled SetCPU last night and I'm going to run just the CM Settings CPU manager all day to see how it goes. Running like this:
ONDEMAND governor
Min CPU: 245 mhz
Max CPU: 1017 mhz
On nightly #19 also.
Okay so its midnight almost, and I'm at 13hrs unplugged and 52% battery still. Pretty general/light use, phone is just as snappy and the lack of a screen off profile doesn't seem to effect battery at all. Liking it so far! very interesting to see the screen off profile not mattering much.
SetCPU for me. I like to have a temperature and charging profile, to prevent the phone from overheating. Even at 1ghz the possibility exists, nice to have a backup incase.

im going to run the CM tuner and uninstall Setcpu and see how it runs. i never thought about this but i do get that lag when i turn my screen on sometimes. im gonna miss having the profiles but ill see how it runs over the coarse of a couple days.

[TWEAK][Siyah Kernel 4.1.1+][Extweaks] Get up to 7 hours of screen usage

WARNING: Use this settings at your own risk. I am not responsible for what will happen to your phone.
So, Siyah Kernel 4.1.4 has been released, and since 4.1.1 and its new features I have struggled for obtaining maximum battery life without loosing smoothness.
I tested these settings on 5 phones (Galaxy S2 GT-I9100): mine and my friends' ones, and we all got the same (more or less) results: it's awesome!
Screen usage can get up to 7 hours. I did these tests with mobile data on for all phone usage, and not in deep sleep. When I was at home I switched to Wi-fi.
My ROM is AOKP M6 (ICS 4.0.4), other tests were made on Resurrection remix JB, stock XWLPF (ics), CM9 stable (screen usage: about 6 hours, no more), and AOKP JB (latest).
Extweaks settings:
CPU:
GENTLE FAIR SLEEPERS: ON
CPU HOTPLUG: (default)
CFS TWEAKS: Linux kernel defaults
CPU IDLE MODE: AFTR+LPA
SMOOTH SCALING LEVEL: 800 mHz
MAX CPU LOCK: Dual core mode
CPU UNDERVOLTING: - 50mV (if you get freezes, set -25mV)
CPU STEP COUNT: 16 (all available)
GOVERNOR: pegasusq
MAX FREQ: 1200 MHz
MIN FREQ: 200 MHz
GPU:
MALI TOUCH BOOST LEVEL: Step 2/Step 3
GPU STEP 1: 44 MHz
GPU STEP 2: 66 MHz
GPU STEP 3: 100 MHz
GPU STEP 4: 200 MHz
GPU VOLTAGE LEVEL 1, 2 AND 3: 800 mV
GPU VOLTAGE LEVEL 4: 950 mV
THRESHOLDS: default values
AUDIO:
HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER: 0 (set this value as you want and as you ears can stand it, it doesn't affect battery life unless you listen to music)
SCREEN:
TOUCHMOVE SENSITIVITY: 3 pixel
ALL OTHER SETTINGS: default values
mDNIe negative toggle: off
BLN:
BLN: off
NOTIFICATION TIMEOUT: never timeout
BLN EFFECT: set what you want, cause BLN is disabled
LED TIMEOUT: use ROM defaults
LED FADEOUT: on
LEDS ON WITH TOUCH: off
LED VOLTAGE LEVEL: 2700 mV (2750/2800 mV if led lights are dim)
MISC:
ANDROID LOGGER: off
DEFAULT I/O SCHEDULER: cfq/noop
ALL OTHER SETTINGS: default values
I think they are not too aggressive values, but if you get freezes, I recommend you reset your extweaks settings via CWM recovery and then use less aggressive ones.
In the attached screenshots, battery stats analysis starts from 91% since I had to restart my phone, and when it was at 10% I plugged the USB cable in to transfer a .zip file in my SD card, but I don't think that this 15-second charge affected my test (I'm sure it didn't!).
Phone usage was high today, I used Tapatalk, created a new UCCW skin, did some long phone calls, Facebook, messaging, e-mail checking, and other stuff I don't remember since the battery stats don't even report them (lol).
Notice that this is an extreme test. 7 hours of screen usage is not a myth, reality instead, but you cannot get them with the so called 'everyday usage'.
Screenshots of test made on my usual phone usage will come soon

I think you forgot the most important part : the extended battery
Extended battery? so what we can get on normal? 4h?

I have a 1650 mAh battery... never had extended 2000 mAh
I don't think these settings are good for performance... I have used even higher settings and there was lagg in some cases. But that was all on my phone
This seems largely similar to my MagicConfig thread.

7 hrs screen time with 1200mhz max frequency and stock battery.. how much more if it's set on 800mhz.. 8-9 hours probably on stock batt?
you could have atleast included what you were doing in those 7 hours screen time like browsing, texting, facebook, etc, also the brightness of the screen, battery chart..

Thanks for reply mate..
I already have XXKH3 modem, I mean I need XXKH3 RIL (radio interface layer) to match modem with as it was the only method to avoid RIL crashes & RILJ wakelocks which prevents phone go to deepsleep.. do u have it sweet?

As you said, it was all on your phone. This is why with someone's settings nobody get exactly the same results: I get lags, you don't get lags, but he sometimes gets lags and sometimes not

MagicConfig was my starting point for GPU voltage levels, how cannot I admit? I always used those frequency steps (first post) but I've never found the right voltages to avoid lags, especially when turning screen on. And I forgot to thank you. I say sorry mate

@Adam Hui sorry if I can't help you, but I don't have a RIL matching the XXKH3 modem. I have XXLPW, and since it is all going well with it (deep sleep is ok, wakelocks are ok [more or less]) I didn't much care about it
Try GetRIL

Try the GetRIL app, it should be able to find the RIL for you.
But if I understand correctly, KH3 is a Modem from the GB firmwares, and you're running and ICS Firmware, the RIL is part of the Firmware and I don't think you can install a GB RIL on ICS... but try the app.
Need to test this. The magic config thread was slightly outdated and with new Siyah v4+ releases, it never got updated.

It will once I get some testing results.
As I have mentioned before I do not possess an s2 anymore so it makes the process of updates slower. Doesn't hurt to be a bit patient right?

No offense mate. I'm aware that you no longer own S2 and moved to HOX. I just gave my opinion about magic config thread and it wasn't towards you.

Great ! I'll try it.
Looks great, must try....................:good:
Thanks gb.yolo
I configured my phone with your settings and it's running nice.
I can't really feel a difference in "smoothness" and it's the first time I change GPU frequencies and UV... but I still can't really tell a difference... what should I expect from changing GPU params, other than battery life?
buddy i cant find Siyah Kernel 4.1.1+ do you have any dwonlad that.

.. Snapse Profile Maximize Hacker Kernel (JAN 13, Sol v2)

Mod please inform me if the thread name format is incorrect as I am on mobile. Note I will pretty the post on PC tomorrow guys.
Hacker 10.1 Settings.
Sol v2 profile for Hacker 10.1
(and how to get the best performance)
Sol v2 settings:
About battery:
Your battery is drained for two reasons, screen and rogue apps wasting cpu/network resources. I hate Facebook app with a passion. Sometimes banking apps are even worse. Check your permissions and ram usage. Use mobile Web when possible instead of app. Chrome is bad as well but can be tamed.
If you want to save battery dim your screen and ensure greenifly is installed. Dont greenifly keyboard, launcher or any messaging apps like viber and use xposed. Battery savings using governor is negligible and has no benefit except making your phone lag and pissing you off when u need it quick.
“Safe" Undervolt GPU and CPU.
CPU undervolt
Big 200-2100 - 75mv all steps
Little 200-1500 - 50mv all steps
(these are deemed safe, you may squeeze more but battery savings are negligible the goal is to reduce heat to prevent throttling while keeping stability.)
Overclocking is not recommended as the heat generated (and throttling) defeats the purpose.
GPU undervolt on lower frequencies only 266-600! Your phone will sit at 266 most of the time even while gaming. If 600 + is required and undervolted it will likely crash or lag from gpu compiler errors. (do not underclock gpu there is no benefit and it makes the governor work more)
Performance interactive on both.
I/O
cfq-1024
TCP
westwood
VM settings
optimized (some changed to manufacture defaults from Hacker settings)
To import now:
i posted a profile fron snapse. Try importing it and enjoy.
Also I noticed that avast and other an it viruses put a dent on speed (and are unnecessary im if u use common sense) your phone is mostly immune from Malware if you install only official apps and ones from xposed repository or from xda. so u can almost always uninstall those. Also to remember to disable startups using boot manager or another app. (u may need more then 1 app to nab all apps.
Make sure you place the profile into the correct location on your storage (the top folder in the screenshot)
I want to highlight to use cfq i
Because although it sucks im benches it is way better to use. (I used to use flops myself.) There's a YouTube video about it somewhere a guy who benched it by opening various apps side by side and timing it on 4 phones. I'll have to link it later.
Disclaimer:
This makes my phone awesome. You are more likely to win the billion dollar powerball then be bricked. But I am not responsible if you win the lottery. Back it up before you put it in and/or ensure stability check is ticked.
If this has helped you please give the Hacker OP a beer first then consider one for me.
I will make my own thread about profiles. So we can remain on topic on WETA_V13. Also It will help Hacker with his development.
Good job. Will be checking around. I use hacker kernel but i use android tuner to tame my phone. One app does everything. I get amazing battery life while im on darkness setting.
Great initiative dude. Running 10.1, but Synapse keeps crashing when trying to restore profiles. Just gives a general Synapse has stopped working message. Any ideas?

EDIT: I couldn't even restore default profile that I saved. It did the same, closed.

Use powersave mode (even from full not auto on at 20% or whatever) would be the obvious thing. But also personally, I use ondemand cpu governer (nearly as smooth as interactive but less aggressive). I set a max cpu cap at 1296 on the little cores and 1600 on the big cores. Also go to application manager and stop and disable samsung push (helps standby a lot), galaxy app, and any other of the bloatware and background apps you don't use.
If you want to get really into it, there's a great thread I was part of a while back in general titled something like crazy battery life 8 hrs SOT+ something like that. It involves using app called disable services and disabling a lot of google stats/analytics services and stuff. I got mine up to just a hair over 7 hrs SOT on a 23 hr run off charger, so there's good life to be had. I usually use GPS too much now so I haven't been able to get that much lately though.
