Hi All,
I have been looking for an application for Windows Mobile like we have for our PC's/Laptops. I am talking about a software like VirtualPC (VPC), VirtualBox (VBOX) and VMware (VirtualMachine).
If there is a VirtualWM (VWM) so we can run any ROM we desire on our phones ie on the HTC Touch HD.
On my PC I am using Windows Vista but in that Vista I am running Windows XP (another operating system, it is a virtual computer that looks and acts like the real thing).
With VWM, we could run multiple ROMS etc!
Has anyone thought of this or found any applications like that?
This is a video on VBOX for those who don't know what a Virtual Machine is

There is a thread here in XDA about running custom roms in Emulator but it only could run modified MS deafult image if I am right.

Hi all,
yesterday I read that the new windows CE 7 Version is released.
Is it possible to use this instead of the "normal" smartphone windows CE?
Windows CE is not a ready to use operating system. It is a collection of system modules. A device developer can choose individual components to build a special platform/firmware like Windows Mobile, Handheld PC or software for cash dispensers, set top boxes, coffee machines...
Windows Phone 7, Windows Embedded Handheld 7 and Windows Embedded Automotive 7 are reference platforms from Microsoft based on Windows Embedded Compact 7.0.
OK, so it seems that is possible that rom chefs can use these modules to include benefits like IE7 etc. in the customs roms.
This is not so easy. There are too many dependencies between the individual modules/components. The Internet Explorer 7 could use, for example, the new security subsystem. But this security subsystem is based in a core library that you can not replace.
Besides, the IE7 for Mobile is not included in Windows CE 7.0. For Windows Mobile/Windows Phone you need a different development environment (Adaptation Kit) which is not available to the general public.
I want to Install Windows 8 on my Notebook. Before installing i have a question. Can Windows 7 programs or WP7 app runs on Windows 8?
Almost all Windows 7 applications work in Windows 8's Desktop environment. Some tools that alter the system at low level might have issues. I've currently not run into any problems.
Windows 8 can't run WP7 apps. It only supports Metro Style Applications built atop WinRT. These are similar to the model of WP7 App development but Developers have to port the to the newer system (which makes a lot of sense because blowing up a Smartphone App to a 12"+ Display just isn't all that usable).
