This is not a nexus 10 specific question, so sorry if there was a better place for this.
I just bought and installed HD widgets' and its great. The issue is that it has now disabled the smart cover capability of my case. Now opening the case just takes you to the lock screen, a touch annoying as you might imagine.
Due to the nature of the search terms, Google is being quite useless, focuses on adding widgets to the lock screen, not on how to sort it with a smart cover.
A anyone know how to sort this out? Many thanks.
Based on your post, I'm assuming that you want no lock screen of any kind? You want to just open the cover, and have it on the homepage? If that's correct, I may be able to help. I have HD widgets as well, but never noticed a problem because I had a pattern lock set up already.when I went to change it, the options under security for None, Slite, and Face unlock were grayed out. What I had to do to fix it was to go under Settings, Security, and clear all credentials. After this I was able to disable the lock screen. I haven't noticed any adverse effects. Everything seems to be working fine.
Hope this helps.

I am sure this has been dealt with, but I have tried so many searches and found nothing that could help me.
I cannot find any setting anywhere to keep the screen locked even when the keyboard slides out, and sometime sin my pocket the keyboard slides slightly but enough to turn the screen on and unlock the device.
What can I do? do I have to replace the basic lock app?
please point me in the direction of existing threads if you know of any or solutions.
cheers

Yes I would like to know that
I solve it by also using pattern type screen lock (in security settings with immediate lock on after) thus even after sliding, the HTC default lock will be unlocked, but the pattern will be required to completely unlock the phone...
If I'm not mistaken, HTC designed the Desire Z and the G2 to unlock when the keyboard is opened. Naturally, on paper, this would make sense given that you could just slide the keyboard to go right to typing. However, as stated before, if you put the pattern lock, then it shouldn't be able to unlock even when you slide.
if you have a pattern or PIN lock it won't unlock when opened.
Now. There is a nice elegant solution that I didn't think of.
And there I was trying to be simple and all I needed waas added security, thanks guys.
Setting it up now
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA App
i find this more convenient this way as i can just slightly tilt the keyboard-screen flip to unlock the phone right away.
Replace your springs in the hinge so it will close tightly and not open in your pocket

Also, using pattern prevent accidental unlocks when the screen slides along some material that it respond to. I don't use the pattern for security but as additional screen lock because the default lock is just poor
So I set up a Pattern Lock. I really like it.
only issue is having to still do the slide down lock AND then the pattern lock.
I cannot find the setting to turn off the slide lock.
what have I missed?
If you rooted your phone and installed a ROM like Cyanogenmod ... you'd have the option to unlock by using the trackpad instead hitting the power button and then slide down to unlock.
I'm setting up a tradeshow display for my company, we're using 3 Nexus 10s in a bent 36"x36" panel. They'll just be looping video, though interactivity may be added to one of them later on. Before I got the Nexus 10s I tested some apps on my Note II that disable the touchscreen because I wanted to prevent anyone from interfering with the looping video.
Unfortunately, I've come to find that while those apps will disable interacting with the main content, it doesn't prevent the Home/Back/etc buttons from working on the bottom bar on the Nexus 10. Additionally, it seems to prevent the video from going completely full screen, leaving the Home/Back/etc icon bar up.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I might truly disable the touchscreen once I have video going? Even if it meant requiring a full reboot to restore touch, that would be fine with me, for the most part we'd just set it and forget it. Some way to just crash or disable the touch screen driver? I'm not rooted right now, but I can be if that's what it takes.
Otherwise we'll end up going with clear acrylic overlays with magnets in them for quick access to the screen, that approach is just generally uglier though, and I'd love to avoid it.
Thanks for any suggestions.
what about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266402
then use your existing disable touch program from there?

Perfect, this is exactly what I was looking for. I ended up using a similar app called full!screen that allowed me to specify two touch areas but then make the icons for those tiny/transparent. BSPlayer has a lock so that casual interaction with the device won't do much. From there I can probably fully lock the touchscreen and have it only unlock with a triple tape or messing with a hardware button (only the operator will have access to the buttons, it's mounted inside an enclosure).
You're a hero, chaos. Many thanks to you.
I hate lock screens so I disable them. If the fingerprint reader were better I'd seriously consider using it to unlock the phone, but it isn't.
My problem now is the "second" lock screen on this phone. Not sure if this is an andorid thing or an EUI thing, since I haven't used android 6.0+ before.
Essentially, I need my home screen to appears when I click the power button. Is that possible? If so, what setting am I missing to disable this screen with the time and camera icon on it?
What is this SECOND LOCK SCREEN?
What issues are you having with Fingerprint? Mine has worked flawlessly.
You have already disabled the block screen on the phone?

So it turns out its just the regular lock screen. The best I can seem to do is set the auto-lock to 30 minutes - this is the maximum time out. This is better, but I want NO lock screen. Does anyone know if this is possible? Some setting I am missing?
I dunno about the fingerprint reader. I'm no apple fan boy but I have to use one for work, and the fingerprint reader on apple devices is far superior, so I'm spoiled with my expectations. The better solution for me is to just get rid of the lock screen.

Ahem the FP of Le Pro 3 or any Android phone out there is far superior because you can unlock the phone even if the screen is off.
Can't find a setting either; if set to none you still have to slide up the lock screen. Other phones I've had remove it all together if set to none.
Finger print sensor on mine seems fine, so i just use that.
Freezing 'System Interface 6.0.1' in Titanium gets rid of lock screen, but has some serious side effects.

This worked for me:
After pressing Power or scanning Finger Print the ``Second Lock Screen´´ pops up, don´t slide to unlock or press any of the icons or ads, instead look for three little pale white dots on upper left corner of display, (they are hard to notice with some wallpapers, specially the included on the phone wallpapers) almost like the ones in some browsers to deploy a menu, press that, and the Locker app should pop up asking you if you want to disable it, press Disable and that should do it!
If you can´t see them try setting a lock screen wallpaper that has solid dark colors on the upper part of the screen.
I don't understand the problem but I've been using this for 1 year

I'm SO frustrated. The stock Marshmellow Lock Screen is terrible. One of the poor design points of Android for quite some time now. There are much better lock screens such as Microsoft Next, Hi Locker, etc. Some of which (like the ones mentioned) support fingerprint unlock.
The problem with the G6 is that it won't allow you to setup a fingerprint, WITHOUT enabling the system lock screen!
There's other apps that use fingerprint option, such as LastPass app. Can't use it unless you have System Lock screen enabled.
Pathetic

#1. Why are you on Marshmallow? Most G6's launched with 7.0
#2. I barley see my lockscreen. I just put my finger on the scanner and it unlocks. I don't see a point in having one anymore.

Especially with AOD the lock screen is very rarely seen. With knock on and the finger print scanner being very accurate on this device, I don't use the lock screen ever. I suppose if you use the swipe to unlock it's still relevant.

First the absence of a notification LED.... now this catastrophe!
Life's really tough.
Sorry I got my sweets all mixed up. I meant Nougat, not Marshmellow.
Everyone has different objectives of how they use their smartphone. For me, I'm not one to be using my phone frequently throughout the day. This is a key difference between me and a lot of typical users, especially the younger generation that is doing SMS/Facebook/Snapchat/Instagram/YouTube/Etc much of the day. I for one must have repeating sound alarms for missed SMS and phone calls as the LED indicator doesn't do any good when you aren't always glancing at your phone. I can leave it in another room for much of the day. So I guess I don't miss an LED indicator on my G6. (I use Prof Reminder app). When I do turn on my phone I want to see vital info right up front. That is:
- Text of missed SMS messages
- Missed phone calls
- Upcoming appointments for the next few days
- Weather for the next 3-5 days
I used to use C Locker which lets you put any widgets you want on the lock screen but I'm preferring the simplicity and look of MS Next Lock Screen now.
Anyhoo, my preference is to double tap screen to see my lock screen with all the info, then if I want to unlock, use the fingerprint sensor. The stock lock screen SUCKS.
The bottom line is that use of the fingerprint sensor should be independent of the lock screen setting. This would be like saying you can only use the home button with the stock home screen and couldn't use Nova Launcher.
Hey! I just rooted my Oneplus6T, installed Nova Launcher and a screen rotation controller app, but I still can't keep the lockscreen in Landscape mode.
I double tap to wake the phone, it comes up landscape, I swipe up, but then the screen always rotates to portrait for the pattern (or the PIN, I tried that as well).
I've already altered the build.prop file, but it still hops to portrait every time. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
I tried a lockscreen replacement called "Hi Locker", and while it worked, you could just get right through it to the home page and do stuff, so it's not secure at all.
Thanks!
I just tried Substratum "Subtweaks" and it doesn't work either! Help!
So everyone else's phone stays in landscape when they enter their pattern to unlock?
Seriously, it would help if I knew this was JUST my problem. Might help me figure it out. Thanks!
Well, I'm glad to have joined such a robust, supportive community. :\
Pretty sure the lockscreen is only portrait. Why anyone would want it in landscape is beyond me, probably why it's not there at all.

Because this is stupid.

Every time I want to unlock my phone in the car, I have to do it sideways. I used a Note 3 that gave me a Landscape Mode Lockscreen for years, so it's certainly possible. I much prefer it, and I would like it on the Oneplus 6T, please.
And thank you, Bladestonez, for responding to my question, even if it was just to imply that it was ridiculous. Never settle! :\

You can always flash an aosp rom. I'm pretty sure aosp has lock screen rotation, you will however you'll loose the fingerprint scanner but it appears you don't use that anyway so might be a good option. Could also suggest lockscreen rotation as a feature for future builds of oos.

Hey! Thank you. I root to block ads and back stuff up, not to start installing custom roms, so I may just wait and see if they can add it officially. I did a little dance recently when I was able to install the latest OTA with Magisk without losing root. That's about as far as I want to push stuff like that.
I DID try the build.prop code, and while it does make the "swipe up" screen Landscape, when I do swipe up, the "pattern dots" screen rotates to Portrait.

It's not a deal-breaker, it's just stupid. As well as my Note 3, every tablet I've ever had has given me a Landscape Lockscreen, so it can't be THAT hard. They probably just decided no one wanted it and didn't include it (or inadvertently disabled it), I guess.
If anyone has any other ideas, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I've already been in touch with Oneplus and I think they put it on the wishlist for me. Gonna start holding my breath... NOW.

Yes, I know my case is the opposite, but you can use the same app.
My case:
Today I have noticed that on lockscreen the screen is rotating what did not happen before. I have tried several Rotating apps but none of them could block rotating of the screen while on lockscreen.
Lastly I managed to force it to portrait mode with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pranavpandey.rotation
In the Settings - Conditions - Lock Orientation - it has to be set to Autorotation OFF then it works. When I set it to Portrait it doesn't.
So in your case you could try setting it to Force Rotation or Landscape.
