Hey guys,
My Nex4 has, just like many others, a buzzing earpiece, but just slightly in my case. Now I'm wondering what the actual problems of this are. My battery life is quite good, 1,5 day of medium usage with 3-4 hours of screen time. It's also unhearable when you move it away from your ear, so that's not the problem either. Finally, I can make good quality calls without being bothered by the earpiece.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

If it doesn't bother you, then there is no problem.

Then I guess I'm fine.

Just got my nexus 7 in today. It seems fine, although, I noticed that con the cleft side of the screen, it seems to be slightly raised in the middle. The corners attached fine. Are people sending out back for this? It doesn't seem like an issue, just an annoyance

Sounds like it. Seems like it's always on the left side for some reason. It's lifts up over the bezel and you can push down on it and it lifts again later. That is how mine is... or was hopefully.
I heated it up with a game, then put a couple clamps on it, left it over night turned off, and today it has stayed down so far. Hope the adhesive that is suppose to hold the glass down sticks now.
I had a previous one though that was slightly different, it was raised on the left side, but I couldn't push it down. Seemed like a screw was tightened too far or something. I sent that one back.
Either deal with it or get a refund if it really bothers you. You can also try number of fixes that are posted on these forums. They pretty much all have this issue to some degree.

Yes this is it, but the real problem is if it makes a noise when you push on it. THATS the annoying part.
Mine doesn't make any noise, although it definitely is a tiny bit squishy and if you try and push hard on it, it does act a little like an LCD monitor. I just didn't care enough to try and return it, as I would have never noticed it if everyone hadn't had their panties up in a wad as much as they did. I figure the worst that happens is that it gets worse over the next year and I end up having to spend a whole $200 more on a newer model.
I agree. I can't imagine this truly hurting the experience. Oh well. Not a big deal as long as it works well

Are you guys serious? If I buy a product, it better not have defects. Why would anyone settle for bad quality? Products these days should not have any issues with the technology we have.
This doesn't make sense to me.
Mine is arriving next week and I hope everything is perfect.

I agree, if it was a true issue I would get a new one. In my case, it is only raised in the middle, and not that noticeable. Everything else is fine. You can fix that too

Besides it shouldn't affect performance. I hope

When I got my second one from the play store, it looked like the middle of the left side was raised. I thought I pushed it down but it never came back up.
I keep looking at it and touching it but nothing. I don't know if I imagined it or maybe bad lighting.
Just install a TPU case where the lip overhangs the screen. Problem solved. Out of sight out of mind. I'm enjoying my N7.
If its a problem 6 months later then I'll call and exchange it. Big whoop.

Doesn't affect my daily use so why should I care. I purchased a two year warranty through square trade should anything go wrong. I shouldn't expect defects but if it truly isn't hurting anything, then meh.

I don't think that they all have this issue, only a select few. I have been lucky enough to get 4 Nexus 7's and no issues. I have seen the issue posted on the site several times though, and the fixes seem pretty easy. There are some youtube videos on fixing it too. Good luck fixing it mate, would take advantage of the warranty if I were you.
Thank you! I can't understand why anyone would send it in for something like that

I can't understand how people can keep a touch device with a raised squishy screen myself.

You can't understand how when someone holds their tablet by the left bezel and it creaks like a floor board, they'd like to return it? That perhaps when using the tablet as a book they don't want to be distracted by clicking noises?

I am not talking about a problem to that extreme, I am talking about, a very slight raise in the middle, with no squeak. The only thing that I can think of that could be bothersome about that is that when you push hard on the bezel, a little bit of the left screen ripples

I have exact the same problem as described. They most annoying part is they "cracking" sound it does when tapping on the left side. I curious whether the touchscreen responsivness issue is somehow related to this problem.
Btw I thought it might be related to the processor since its also on the left side, maybe the heat causes the glue to detach ... if you know what I mean.

Just discovered a stuck pixel. Dang
Of the ones that were recently shipped, do they still have the camera rattle and earpiece buzz problem?
As far as I know all N4's should have this rattle as its the autofocus mechanism in the rear camera that causes that noise; as opposed to a loose or broken off part that can be "fixed".
rattle
Mine hasn't got the rattle it is loud and clear (got it in mid Jan), buy I'm sorry got those that do have it, as it ruins one of (if not the) best phone on the market

I'm more worried about earpiecebuzz than rattle. I checked most iPhone having rattle as normal

New batch still broken.
I received my Nexus 4 Feb, 6th. It has the camera rattle, which I don't mind, and the earpiece is absolutely broken. During calls, the voice is hardly noticeable, and there is a loud screeching/vibration distortion coming out of the speaker. I don't hear any buzzing when not connected to a call though, from either the earpiece or the loud speaker. Also, the first time I played with the camera, the autofocus made the rattle sound, then the phone froze and rebooted. Antutu benchmark also crashes when testing SD card at the end. Needless to say, I've reported all that to google and will be receiving a new unit soon. Very disappointing though.

My camera also rattle a bit but as far as i know it is normal. No earpiece buzzing though

The camera rattle is normal. Never seen a nexus without it (I have owned 2 and have 2 other people at my work with them)
My fresh shipment nexus still rattles and buzzes a bit.
The earpiece buzz impacts my phone only when connected to a 2.1 amp charger and is very quiet. I never noticed it until I smashed the phone up to my ear and went into a quiet area.
I`m surprise with mine, I have shaked the piss out of it and no rattles at all, I received it Feb 6th:good:
I seemed to be the only one who doesn't get ear buzz :S

Well I'm just about ready to give up, on second RMA for 8gb, and just got my new 16gb and all have the earpiece buzz, very noticeable when in calls and only minor all the other time. I'm fine with the rattle but the buzz drives me crazy.
16 gb buzzes only when screen is on, 8gb buzzes all the time
Anyone else having bad luck like me? Starting to wonder if I'm just paranoid.

Not sure about you guys, but I get the rattle once in a while while in a call. Never got the buzz. I asked some of my coworkers to see if they can hear a buzzing sound and none of them heard it.. Autofocus rattle is there though, but I expected that. Overall, doesn't bother me too much as long as I can hear the person I'm talking to (which I can)
I got a couple free from T-Mobile 3 days ago and have noticed no rattle and the speakers all sound great. I can hear a slight noise if I shake the phone.
Side note: this thing gets really hot on both sides of the phone (screen/back plate) where the processor is located.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
The rattle is by design... Don't listen to people who say they don't have a rattle. May be they have a faulty device because the camera doesn't rattle.
I have an iPhone 5 and lumia 920 and the camera in those phones also rattle when I shake the phone.

If rattling noise you mean by a piece is literally rolling around the inside of your phone then no. All cameras have a little rattle to them. No biggy.
Rattle Solution!!!

I've had my phone for a week now and have noticed no strange noises coming from it at all. But then I'm 66 years old and my wife says I'm deaf so what do I know.
Hey guys,
I just sold my old phone(Galaxy S Plus) and now im looking for a phone that's pretty cheap and fast(quad core cpu).
After a while of searching I found the nexus 4 and the HTC One X.
My sister got the One X and I don't like the colors of the screen, they're like dead so I decided to go with the Nexus 4.
Anyway im planning to go to the store to see the nexus 4 tommorow but I got a question.
Im afraid the glass back will break fast.
Im always very protective on my devices so I don't want it to break.
So my question is, does the glass of the Nexus 4(front but especially back) break fast? and if yes, will a rubber bumper around it protect it from a fall?
Thanks in advance!
the official bumper is good for protection and it is pretty hard to break (although it ALWAYS is pure luck if your phone (any complete-glass-front-phone) falls down and survives... if you have a bad day s4 htc one, one x, nexus 4 will break)

As Treshy said, it ultimately comes down to luck. I've dropped my phone on to carpet from about 3 feet and nothing happened to it, and my old HD2 fell from 4 feet on to concrete and came out unscathed. However, I've also seen multiple stories where people claim their phones were destroyed by falls from just a few feet in the air. Because the N4 is all glass, I bought a pouch case which completely protects the device during the times I'm most likely to drop my phone (taking it out of and putting it into my pocket) and allows me to use it case and screen-protector free when I want. I think the N4 is definitely worth it, especially over the awful One X. That thing lags like hell, the Tegra 3 in it is awful when combined with Sense.
It is down to luck, but maybe some of these stories will settle your doubts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293827

Okay thanks guys! Seems okay then only one thing.
I've read a couple of stories that people owning a nexus 4 were calling, in the sun playing games, charging them overnight and then the back glass broke(near the camera), is this a common problem or is this also having bad luck?

I've got it since a few months, absolutely no problem with it. Back's still new, and I use a Muzzano bumper, which is pretty efficient.
the One X is too old imo. N4 is the way to go

Hi! This is my first post and thread! Hooray, not that anybody cares but... whatever.
Thing is, my Nexus 4's back began creaking on the side where the camera is. I've had the phone for 6 days and this is the first time I've noticed this noise. It's really annoying. I can't help but keep pressing firmly on that side... How could I make the squeaking stop?
Stop squeezing your phone dude.

Hey gang. Just a quick question. This is my second Nexus 4. RMA'd the first one with screen defect. Now this one I've had since about April ish I notice seems like the case is loose.. When I apply just the slightest bit of pressure to the body of the phone around the "n" on the word nexus below the camera it has a crazy creaking sound. Now I've kept this thing in a solid Ringke Fusion case literally since day one and have maybe dropped it once or twice from waist height but never any serious spills and even when it was dropped I would always "somewhat" catch it so never any direct slams into concrete or anything.. Phone is nearly flawless. This noise aggravates me. Makes me think of the phone as kinda cheap and creaky. I'm also afraid of it hurting the resale value. What are your thoughts? Would Google replace it / fix it? Is it worth it to fool with at all? Would be nice to get a brand new Nexus 4 due to a crappy assembled case.. Open to suggestions...
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Called Google.. They said they would be in touch with me within 48 hours. Guess we'll see what happens. I mean it's not a big deal it's just kinda the principal of it.. Who wants a creaky crazy phone... Especially if it's less than a year old.
