how long have you owned your play? - Xperia Play General

say what you want with the play, it's my fav phone and longest owning phone i 've ever had (2 years coming this may). most of my phones i've had were about a year. the fact that new games come out and most of them still play great is very impressive.
i might buy a new play since my phone seems to reset if i open and close it really fast. maybe i'll get a new play and keep it in a trident. :good:

18 month. And just bought one for T-Mobile when my contract ends next month. So ill be having it a lot longer.

9 months. Best idea I've ever had to use my New Every 2 Verizon upgrade to get a free WiFi-only gaming device.

July, 2011.
I've been a thug ever since.
Sent from my R800x using xda app-developers app

I owned for 4 different Plays within the last 18months
R800i - shorted due to water damage and gave parts to another member
R800x - sold
R800i - returned due to no T-Mo 3G.
R800at - using now
Also had the Nexus and S3 within that time.

Since July 2011. I've had two upgrades since then, and it's actually been the powerhouse steroid phones that I ended up getting bored with/selling.
I actually have an upgrade like... today. Gonna see if the LG Optimus G, HTC One X+ or Xperia TL (equipped with a MOGA) are capable of permanently ripping me away from my Xperia Play.

bought online my r800i on October 2011, but it arrived in November so 14 months

I have mine for almost 13 months now and the device runs very well. However the back plate is pretty shattered. It is scratched and it is cracked near the power button. The shatter film from the digitizer is really scratched but overall it is holding out pretty well considering the fact that I did drop it several times.
Oh and the game pad has a few drop marks but it is still running as new.

I've had two in 13 months the first one I dropped in the toilet lol but got another on the insurance but thinking of getting the orange housing because it looks cool
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app

17 month . i never use any phone up to 17 month . this is the first i use a phone up till 17 month . FTW Xperia play .

Since it release. Almost 2 years now. Never had any problem or been to service/repair centre. Just the battry got old & unable to store any chrge no more. It just died. Had it replace & its still awesome as always.
Hopefully my Play can last many more years to come.

Two and half years. Still using it every day, all day. The screen is still in pristine condition, and it rocks better than the day I got it. I Love my G1.
had it since US release date until the end of 2010, then switched to verizon and got a droid x
Long enough that I no longer have a contractual obligation. But, it still works and with the uncertainty concerning T-Mobile's future I am not wanting to get locked in by upgrading.
About 1.5 years. Bought it cheap from a friend who moved on to greener pastures.
I hate the damn thing. Sure I run an optimized Froyo rom, but it's way too slow, and no way am I going back to the dark ages (Android <2.0).
Finally switching to a Samsung Galaxy S II soon! Can't wait! :-D
I'm thinking of getting a sensation next or just waiting till next year

I also had it for 6 months till 2011 and now I have a HTC HD2!!
Nine months. I got mine used on eBay back in September, and despite a few issues, I've been loving it as my first Android device.
i have it for about half a year, but then switch to HTC droid Eris.
From the beginning
Got it the first week of release. Using EVO 4G on Sprint now, but still use G1 on my business cell phone. I keep it to push its limits, currently running CM6. I hope to do something ridiculous with it one day, like Honeycomb on the G1

I'm screwed if I break my Epic!!!!!!

best buy has none any more, here in Va Beach, I JUST found that out when my wife got home from taking my oldest to Best buy with his broken Epic, the forced an upgrade on him so now my wife has a Iphone ( ewwww) and my oldest son has her old HTC evo 3D, but the store manager said they told my wife that the Epic is no longer made and if I break mine I get a free upgrade, only problem in the only Samsung is the SII, other than that its a keyocreia, or a LG optimus, and another phone that I have never heard of So I guess when I do finally decide to upgrade I will have to leave the Epic for dead
Orrrrrrr...be careful and take care of it. I have my original still gotten 2 weeks after release.

Best buy also offers you the full retail value towards the purchase of another phone. So whatever it was at the time of purchase for you it may be $500 towards a new phone off contract.
Even without a case, it's still somewhat of a tank. I dropped mine at least 5 times and it's fine. And before me my dad had it while putting up billboards.

I got my Zagg invisible shield professionally installed right after I got my epic, and put it in the commuter case right after. A couple weeks ago, I had the invisible shield replaced under the lifetime warranty after a knife in my pocket had gouged it. When I took the case and screen protector off, my epic looked brand new. The only part that is worn at all is the keyboard, and it is _very_ worn. =)

It may have its shortcomings and limitations compared to other phones currently available, but the photon q runs circles around the Epic.
I love my epic, and I love cm9, and I'm not jumping ship yet, but come on.
Sorry, it's just the facts of the matter. Newer faster technology, better screen, and I really prefer the photon q's keyboard. 'Nuff said.

---------- Post added at 05:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:50 PM ----------
eh. I was wrong. i rebooted and its fine again... ive only been able to kill the epic twice. once from mass amounts of vomit. once from the drunk girl.
I wish every time my car acted up I could just shut it off and restart it to make it work right.

Wait wut please clarify...I upgraded from my Hero on october 6 of 2010 at bestbuy, but I signed a 2 year contract (I believe it was $250 at the time lol) so if I were to stick with best buy and upgrade again, they will deduct the epics full retail value from back when I got it from an unlocked phone? I still hve the original receipt and upgrade papers/contract..

I am talking about Black Tie insurance. If you have it and your phone breaks and is no longer available, then they give you the retail credit towards a new phonesnfull retail value.

You can occasionally find good phones on cowboom.com. I got into the Samsung Epic because I found it on CraigsList and the ESN wasn't bad -- but it was locked to someone else's account (gr!). Had to port it to cricket, since it was basically stolen.
Talked to a few of the cricket flasher people -- and they said you can find GOOD phones on cowboom. So, I searched Cowboom and got another Epic. The trick to getting a good one (mine said it was covered in scratches -- it was pretty much brand new) is to look for one that has nearly everything included with it as far as accessories. Mine showed as a poor quality, but it was flawless.
Search fairly often and you should be able to find one. Like the others said, get a case and a screen protector. I use a Seidio Active and love it.

I could easily see myself buying a "Nexus S2" with the exact same form factor and just upgraded specs... like a dual-core processor and LTE!
Bought mine on release day 2 years ago today! Love this phone. Easily the most ergonomic phone I've ever held in my hand. It is just so comfortable. Still on the original battery, never changed it. No hardware issues (except for that slight green line on the left edge of the screen). A trooper of a phone that has held its ground. Bought into the Nexus program for the Google updates and I have not been disappointed. The dev community is carrying us into 4.2 and beyond. It's been a great 2 years for Android. Look how far we've come. What a ride the Nexus S has been on! GB>ICS>JB
Bought mine on the first day it came out two years ago. This phone has been a beast and omg the awesome development. Though I'm not using it now (I got a GS3 about a month ago), it carries on its glory in my brother's hands. He's loving it! It's sad to probably see development will stop after 4.2. This phone is what a true Nexus phone should be.
Happy Birthday Nexus S! ??

I've had this phone now for about 14 months and is hands down the beat phone experience I've had... Rooted within my first month of having it and was running custom ICS ROMs all the way up til my current 4.2.1 Rasbean Jelly ROM... I don't think development will continue for another two years... I DO think it will get KLP, by port from a dev of course... But the Android updates really starting to catch up to the specs of the phone and were starting to see its limits... I do believe development could easily continue for +2 years... But i just don't see devs sticking around that long...
