new purchase - HD Mini General

I was considering buying a htc desire x that I find interesting in terms of size and price. What do you think? If I wanted to sell my mini might interest anyone?

Well, The HTC HD Mini will get the final stable ROM at last, but can take a while, also I'm working on it hardly.. I won't give up and I never won't to be sold our HTC HD Mini..
If you trying to upgrade to a better phone, try upgrading to the near latest phones, like a HD display, more camera pixels. because you won't see much different, and this desire x could have another problems that you hope to be....
It's your choose..

Hi baggino, i also planned to buy the Desire X but there are some points why i don't do it.
The main reason is, that in a big german board many people reporting that their DX is rushing very loud. And this is annoying all the time. Many sent it for repair but after it was back there was the same.
And it hasn't simple things like digital compass or gorilla glas and it has only Sense lite.
I now think about HTC One SV, more expensive but beating desire x in every point.
I think i will never sell my mini, cause i wont get the money wich it is worth!

Got the SV. Love it so far. Off course no mod/recovery support yet, but it does unlock the same way using the htcdev website.

Hi friend, I have held for some time now Cm7 of schlund but the battery is not the best, as battery is very good the iplasm rom but has too many problems with wifi, gps and 3 g calls and usb cable ....If the battery was good cm7 ... ... ...Hopefully next rom. So for now I do not buy htc desire x and continue to hope.

Broken hero, buy a new hero or desire?

My hero is broken and i cannot make up my mind about what to do.
should i get a new hero or switch to a desire?
I started to read in the desire forum and clearly they are having problems with this usb brick.
It also seems like the custom rom development for desire barely exists.
Im really happy with my hero running very smooth, even smoother than my friends desire in some gui animations but the snapdragon does its thing when it comes to calculation..
add to the calculation that i can get a hero for roughly half the price.
help me out here!
Hmmmm,.... Well I dont think the Desire is worth twice the amount of a Hero,... But if it had a hardware keyboard I'd be tempted.
If I was you,... I'd get the cheapest thing available, i'd even consider a Magic,... Then wait for the Vision,... But again, thats cos I really want a keyboard, and it could be 6 months or more for that to drop.
If you wont be upgrading again for a while i'd get a Desire, and custom ROMs will get better.
Hmmmmm,.... Its a hard one.... Sorry, no help whatsoever.
have you considered a legend? u will still get the nice htc styling (infact in my opinion the legend is best looking android phone) but also 2.1 android as default - htc will no doult upgrade legend to 2.2 (even if it takes 6months)
the legend is alot faster then the hero (not as fast of the desire mind but still)
it seems a good middle ground choice for you!
the legend is ok i guess, but its almost as expencive as the desire, and then id rather go for snapdragon and oled
a friend of mine has the legend and i dont really like the color reproduction..
and with my current rom to the hero its less sluggish than desire so i doubt legend could beat that. but on the other hand i dont know anything about legen custom development..
I just bought a Desire and am selling me Hero to finance it, well i'm going to use my Desire for a week and see if i like it or if i miss my Hero, as you said the dev scene on the Desire (right now) isn't a patch on the Hero!
I am also concerned about the number of Desire's that are being bricked whilst being rooted and as such won't be rooting mine until they find out why it's happening, tis a bit expensive to turn into a paper weight and if i can't root might stay with Hero because i love ROM flashing . I do realise that they may never find out why though
the usb brick is my biggest concern..
the custom dev will appear i guess in time but im also worried about HTC, how long will they delay froyo for example?
we all have bad experience from HTC with the 2.1 update for hero..
i could buy a cheap hero now and buy the next flagship from HTC ( WITHOUT HARDWARE KEYBOARD )
If you want to save money the buy another hero.
Otherwise not another htc phone.

Perhaps ask dev's like Paul @ Modaco, Nathan @ VillainRom about their thoughts on the bricking subject? (I'm sure they both have Desire's + Behnaam is getting one too)
On the Froyo for Desire it's *due* end of June..
And the Desire with hardware keyboard looks [email protected]$$

Htc Hero to....Iphone 4 or Desire Z??

Hiya, im going to be replacing my htc hero with a new phone pretty soon, and im stuck in-between two phones, the htc desire z and the iphone 4.... heeeelp im not sure which one to buy, i like the resale value of the iphone and iv had an iphone before my htc hero, but then again, android is growing and it has a keyboard which im interested in.
so anybody got any suggestions? thank you
I'm going to go for a Desire Z
+1 on Desire Z
Btw, why are you replacing your Hero? On a plan or wanting specific features?
I dont think any1 on this forum would day iP4
+1 Desire Z
see my parents are on a plan, and they don't care about their phones, so my brother and i take them
of course we still pay for the phone itself, so i switch the sim cards, from a bill pay (monthly plan) to pay as you go (top up by €20 credit whenever i need it and buy more when it runs out) so i am very lucky, and my dads plan is coming up to renewal so i might aswell buy the Z, rather than him use it up on a really cheap phone when i could get the Z for €120
so i could get the desire Z or iphone.
The hero is getting old now, especially compared to the newer generation phones such as the desire Z itself.
Out of the two, desire z; although I prefer the desire hd. That said I've just upgraded to the Samsung Omnia 7.

Desire Z
Just ordered mine tonight
Got an amazing deal, should be here on tuesday
yeah im liking it too, the screens amazing on the iphone, but i dunno, is the loose hinge a fault or just something that comes with the phone because thers a few that dont have the problem
Well I recently upgraded to the desire Z due to contract renewal, (I never even considered the ip4) but I was a bit iffy on getting the Desire Z, as I never thought I'd use the keyboard, but it was the most appealing phone out at the time so went for it anyway. Needless to say I love it, and I don't think I'll ever go back to a keyboardless phone again! No matter how good an onscreen keyboard may be, I don't think it could ever replace a real one (And that's only after a month of having the phone!) It looks amazing, much better than the now generic looking ip4, and more classy than the samasung phones. Build quality is good too, feels very solid. The loose hinge (I wouldn't call it loose) isn't a problem, in fact if you never heard all the reports, I doubt you would have known about it, as it's just when you hold it in really weird ways that you'll notice it, and to me it felels very snappy when I open or close it, so imo, nothing to worry about there. As for the screen, I wouldn't worry about the ip4s 'super amazing magical' display, put it next to the hero and it looks like you've just upgraded from a tube tv, to a HD one! And I thought the Hero had a decent screen xD And next to the ip4, you barely notice the difference, imo the Galaxy S phones have the more impressive screen (just 4'' is too big for my liking). Other than that, great phone all round, and you'll have plenty to play around with the new HTC sense, and all the custom roms. So I'd say go with the Z.
Bro htc hero runs smooth with root. If you just want to change hardware for newer phones just say that. To me htc hero is good device, iPhone 4 sucks..
I have three android devices if i didnt have Motorola Droid & HTC Hero i would say desire Z.
But Droid does more then Htc desire Z minus the memory internal storage problem, that can be solve by having A2SD partitioned .
But go with android.... I hate apple products.

I went from a Hero to a DZ,.... specifically for the h/w keyboard,... my other half has a desire, if I didn't want the keyboard I think I would be happy with that rather than the IP4 which my pal has. Definitely HTC with Android all the way baby.
Even taking into consideration HTCs dismal update history with my Hero, it is a non issue with the support on XDA.
Also, just a thought guys, but 'I hate Apple products' isn't very helpful to someone deciding on a new phone. I admit I'm not a fan either (who on xda is?!) But at least back it up with reasons as to why.
I am going to buy a Desire HD.
Don't go for the iPhone 4. The desire range is much better, and in any case the iPhone 5 will be out in a few months...
In spite of owning a Hero and totally bumming android I never really went down the "eww apple" route. Mainly because i'd had no experience of apple's products.
For xmas i was gifted an iPod touch 4G. Its smooth as hell. The quality and range of games is far superior to android based phones too, at least in my experience. It really depends what you want the phone for. I'm sure the Desire Z is really nice, but there's no denying the iPhone is too.
I honestly don't know which way i'd go. Games - iPhone. Keyboard - DZ. Could it be that simple?
I have a Hero at the mo but won't be getting another HTC device. Galaxy S II or LG Black for me
iPhone's are quality, but the lack of flexibility of what you can do with them puts me off.
My next device is an Android with a hardware keyboard. I think the Motorola Milestone (2).
Never again a phone with a on-screen-keyboard!
So, if I were you: The Desire Z
The next phone after a HTC Hero should be a Desire HD, however that's been out since November and is old hat. I got the HTC Hero because it was the first Android phone in the UK so I'm waiting for the LG Optimus p920 3D (hopefully a UK April launch) as it'll be the new tech on the market.
The iPhone is quality, but the problem with it, called iTunes drags this phone down. You are so locked...too much.
The next phone for me is either an HTC dual core or the LG Optimus with the Tegra2 chip (dual core). Be aware that the black edition is single core.

hey, so as far as i can gather there is no SD card slot on the htc one but it has 32gb internal storage. how will this effect the whole rooting process for custom roms and the nandroid backup process which i thought is best kept septate from the phone in case the whole thing goes tits up?
as much as i love a new phone, the thing I enjoy most is rooting and installing Leedroid
One down off the new HTC One serie is that you can not swap batteries. On eBay you can buy really cheap spare batteries, so with the HTC One serie you are forced to buy an external battery.
The HTC One X is the best off the One serie, but also not cheap, its cost about € 599 that's same price level as iPhone 4S.
And HTC One S is be said cost € 499, so if you grab an Evo 3D now they are on sale then you have very good QHD HTC phone to and that for € 210 less.
But ofcourse in terms off specifations the HTC Desire HD loses from the HTC One S and HTC One X, the HTC One V is sadly just an HTC Desire HD in another design with probably a few improvements.
The HTC One V brings me one sad conclusion for HTC Desire HD owners. Our device isnt even 2 year old and because off HTC keeps making phones that are almost same as HTC Desire HD in specifications, it means as soon people can buy the HTC One V our HTC Desire HD will drop in worth again.
The phone once costed € 550 and now it cost new about € 300 ofcourse its grey import at that price level, but the companies who sell at that price level don't tell that most times, so gray import already made price off and second hand DHD drop.
what id really like is a picture of the barcode...
My main concern is the battery life. Can you find out how long the battery will last throughout the day with moderate use?

Hi Flow!
If possible, I would like you to show how much more text can HTC One X display in a e-book reading app (Aldiko/Kindle) and in browser, when compared to 4.3" Desire HD. Thanks!
Edit: oh, you're from htc hot to come. You were the ones who compared One X and Sensation XL. Nice work!
Sorry for my english:
@shaky156
I am not sure that we can test X & XL. But if we can we would try to test the benchmark at the same time
@slab100
During the test I am not sure that we can try to test that :/ This is not our phone. But later we can try.
I am sure than it's possible to install LeeDroid on a HTC One, when devs will have worked on. HTC want to share. They unlock bootloader to help devs. So I don't think they will lock their new phones.
@DexterMorganNL
I am right with you, but technology continue to improve. And that's all. DHD is not a bad phone and we can continue to use it. But I want to change for a better camera, a new sound experience, a phone not so huge than DHD with better specificity
@panyan
Which code bar? Phones have codebar? xD
@gordongartrell
I don't know how long we can test it. But sure, I will take a picture when we start, and when we finish to know how we have used it!

Id like to know if HTC plans on releasing any phone with SD card slot or 64gb memory in the future.
Ill keep my DHD until it breaks or buy a different brand if they wont release something with more than 16gb in the 4.3" format. I need to be able to operate my phone with one hand so 4.7 is too big.

Poor old HTC

So in light of the following news are HTC going to bring out something special or just quietly dye by the way side?

Bear in mind the current fiasco with ICS and the Desire HD.
So are you going to jump the HTC ship?
Ya well, the one series was a miss with consumers at large ,can't imagine what would have happened if the one x for example had sd card storage and a battery access
We can only hope they die a quick but painful death.
... unless they release ics source code then i don't care what they do.

I am already planning my jump over to Samsung rightly or wrongly, but they are talking about launching JB on the S3 and even the S2 in the very near future! And from what I have seen they seem to deliver what they say!
Well I wouldn't want them to die, afterall competition is always good, however I've decided that my DHD shall be my last HTC phone after all that has happened. I'm contemplating on waiting for the next Google phone, immediate updates and a bugless AOSP experience, what else could one ask for?
That is what you get when you mess with all the HTC Desire HD owners!!! Not releasing ICS for their most sold phone and telling their costumers lies about HTC Desire HD performance. And the same with HTC Desire.

Agreed, I cant believe they would release such a retarded phone and a clear attempt to copy the iPhone business model.
I'm due upgrade now but think ill just stick with my DHD.
They should have concentrated all efforts on savage battery life combined with expansion of mem.
That is the general consensus I am feeling form this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396842
It’s a shame that a company with a lot of promise has now just peed of its fan base and almost washed their hand of them.
If you look at the number of ROMs in the development thread you can see that people pretty much rooted their HTC Desire HD as soon as they got them as the hardware far out preformed the software that was loaded and any potential update (although we all knew these wouldn’t come to light! lol )

Don't forget Samsung is from South Korea, so why keep spending money on SK if you know that "everyone" in SK has a Samsung phone :silly:
I hope they won't cancel the ICS update for developers. They had the same problem with Gingerbread update for the Desire.
They never released it as an OTA update, but they released it for developers.
So let's hope they do the same with Desire HD (in the future).
About One-series. It's indeed a sad story, but I think why most people didn't bought the One-phones was because most of them were probably waiting to see the Galaxy SIII and it seems that the SIII is the number one choice now for lots of Android users.
That or the New Galaxy Nexus (fingers crossed it won’t be produced by HTC) that will ruin the Nexus name IMO

Why would HTC ruin it? I like HTC's hardware
1 months ago I planned to buy the One X along with one of my best friends and I almost sell my DHD (it even already entered the "For Sale" thread in one of Indonesia's largest community forum). But after I read so much informations from early adopter of One X about how bad is the HTC's quality control over One X hardware productions I hold my decisions to upgrade because I don't wanna spend my time dealing with HTC service center.

Can we trust HTC build quality with One after One X wi fi fiasco?

I made a promise to myself NEVER to buy again HTC after the HTC One X Wi Fi scandal fiasco. I was ready to go back to Samsung but then this gorgeous phone shows up and I am all confused again.
Had I not suffered greatly with the HTC One X antenna problems I would dive in for the HTC One. It looks amazing!
How can we be sure HTC learned its lessons with the HTC One X?

Htc need this device to do well so to mess up with build quality when it's being pushed as a premium device is a big mistake.
Funny how different poeple's perceptions differ .. I preordered, and got one on the day of release, and can honestly say that the only problem I recall having with my One-X was the erratic GPS. which was fixed within a couple of months of the release date.
My Wifi has been fine on my HOX but after the problems it had and the antenna scandal on the iPhone I think HTC would have tested it thoroughly to make sure that everything works perfectly.
The Wifi issue isn't the only concern.
I am more worried about multiple manufactures for the Screen. I had the HTC One XL and ended up returning it because I got stuck with the inferior screen.
Hope HTC Does not make the same mistake.
Screen lottery is one thing that does concern me.
This was an issue with the Sensation and the One X. At launch I couldn't find a One X that didn't have a noticeable yellow tint.
I am weary of pre-ordering one and having to swap it due to niggles like this. White should be white! Or slightly blue, not fussed, hah.
Don't forget yellow screens and digitizers that don't last on the EVO 3d... Among other simple things. I'm not sold 100%.
The One XL didn't have any major issues; at least not compared to the One X. The DNA/Butterfly's launch has also been pretty smooth with only a couple of niggly issues with port covers and the like. Display issues are always going to pop up on a percentage of devices because it's just the way it is with so little margin for error during production. As others said, HTC's got a lot riding on the One so I'd expect QC to be a high priority.
This is an issue for many. I swore never to buy HTC after the problems with my DHD rebooting. HTC didn't give a toss. Their terrible customer service was featured on a consumer's rights TV programme here in the UK called Watchdog. The HTC Facebook page was bombarded with other customers slating them.
There will be problems, you can be sure of that. All phones have issues to begin with and most (software) get ironed out after release.
Don't forget the Galaxy S 3 with crippled with the 1GB of RAM. Can't wait to get rid of my SGS3!
We should start a sweep steak to predict the HTC ONE problems.
I'll start.. random reboots! HTC love em
Every phone has problems when they're released from HTC, Samsung or Apple. It's just how big they are or how long they take to be fixed.
Personally I don't mind cause custom ROM's tend to fix most problems.

Maybe I just got lucky but I haven't had any issues certainly with regards to WIFI or screen. What inferior screen problems were there if I may ask? Maybe I have one and I don't know it lol.
GPS lock could be better. Mind you I don't use it much except when I'm playing golf and for the most part it seemed to work fine.
Also HTC really can't afford to put out a crappy product. It'll almost be the end of them (ok not really but you get it) if they do.
Surely the antenna issue is a design issue and not build quality.
In my opinion htc's build quality is better than most of their rivals.

So...? Whats your point? HTC could be sourcing the screens from 2 or 3 companies like they did with the HTC One X. It matters not that they are the only ones using the screens,

Asaik HTC used 3 diffferent panels, each with its own quirks. I won't tell you which ones inferior, and I suggest you not look it up so long as your happy with yours

Both the XZ and DNA/Butterfly use the Renesas (Sharp) 63311 LCD panel. It or a variation of it may be what's in the One.

Every phone has problems when they're released from HTC, Samsung or Apple. It's just how big they are or how long they take to be fixed.
Personally I don't mind cause custom ROM's tend to fix most problems.

This is precisely my attitude. I don't care about software bugs or missing features etc... they will be fixed by the geniuses on here.
Only hardware matters to me.
With zero gap this trap there should be less build quality issues
