Hello,
I'm trying to mount my cellphone as a mass storage device in my Nexus 7, in order to listen the music I have in its sdcard.
Using an OTG cable and StickMount, I can mount pendrives without any problem, but I can't read my phone's contents.
Obviously, I enabled Mass storage mode in my phone (it's running Android 2.3) and tried to mount using 'mount /dev/sda' without luck.
Thanks!
I think you've got the wrong subforum.

Is anyone having trouble with mass storage mode on a mac? Do I need drivers?

No problems here, but I usually leave it in Phone portal so I don't have to eject every time. Didn't have to install any drivers.

I AM!
I bought double twist last night just so I could transfer music via WIFI. When I plug the phone in to my Macbook an autorun file mounts and gives me an .exe setup to run. But... Mac's don't like exe's.
My n1 would plug in and mount no sweat - so I'm not sure what needs to be done to this thing.
EDIT:
I should clarify that I have not installed an SD card. I'd like to figure out how to mount the internal 16G flash drive.

Enable usb debugging in settings>applications .. then connect the phone to your mac and set it to usb mass storage mode..
It should get mounted in finder at that point.

seriously... is that all it takes?
Cool - I'll try it tonight.
Thanks.
Thanks!
Strange thing is I did that earlier today but it didn't work... just did a reboot and tried that again... it worked.

This is correct.
Is it possible to mount it as an external storage just as an android phone does? On Windows you have to install the driver and it shows up. On my Mac it doesn't and just charges. Also can I mount the sdcard along with internal storage?
Also is there a way to mount my x10 as storage on the Transformer? When I plug into the USB port on the dock, I press mount on my phone but it does nothing while regular USB flash drives work just fine.
For Mac just download this http://www.android.com/filetransfer/. Works perfectly, allowing you to access your storage.

I have an android Sony Ericsson X10I and trying to mount it on the a500 but its not even recognized. I've already tried the paid version of USB Mount all with no sucsess. If you have been able to access the x10i or other cell phones storage please let me know how you did it. Thanks- Bryan

My Nexus One works with USB Mount All. On the phone it is set up with USB Debugging enabled, when prompted choose to mount on phone, wait till phone acknowledges it is mounted, then you should be able to launch USB Mount All and scan for your device (if it is not showing in the list). In fact, I just did this, and it worked.
Here's a screenshot.

Thanks for the reply, I've actually already tried to mount with and without the usb debuging selected on the phone. I can select mount on the phone as soon as its connected but my A500 does not see anything. I know the drive works as I've used regular flash drives on it even before I bought the USB mount all app. Maybe the phones format is different than others. It does download other drivers when initially connected to a computer.

What did you do? Use? Are you using a custom rom on either? More details would be useful.
Are you being patient and refreshing USB Mount All a few times after your phone has confirmed it is mounted? Mine doesn't show immediately, but after a refresh or two it just works.
I'll give it another shot when I get home. I have a 16gb micro sd card in my x10i. would it make a difference?
Discovered the issue. I could not get anything to mount including flash drives through the mount all. I discovered the issue was caused by busy box not completly installing. Reinstalled and can now mount my phone. Thanks for the replies everyone.
Went to DL USB Mount All and I saw a review that said app Drive Mount isvthesame thing for free. Tried it and it mounted my X10 flwlessly
I use drive mount for my phone which has an 8 gig sd card partioned as fat 32, ext-3, and linux-swap.....and all the partion get mounted...

As the title says.
I can't for the life of me find the option to mount USB storage via CWM / TWRP. Am I doing something wrong or is the feature not.. there for some reason?
Tried CWM 6.0.1.0.
You have to be rooted, have stickmount from play store and the proper otg cable, there are threads on it already, sorry no link you'll have to search.

I could of sworn I saw a mount USB storage option in TWRP 2.2.1, but I could be wrong, in any case, 2.2.1.5 has it, but has issues with gapp flashing it seems

I've always transferred files (rom/kernel zips) to my device via clockwork mod recovery because there's the option to mount usb storage even on recovery. I'm not talking about using the stickmount so that my flashdrive can be detected via usb otg.
Can anyone else confirm that for N7, neither cwm nor twrp has the option to mount usb storage when plugged in to my pc?

I'm certainly no expert, but I have never seen that option in CWM...don't know about TWRP. All I have ever done is just plug my device in to the PC...open the files...and click and drag to where I want to put the zip file. I do the same thing with my N7.

Oh, I believe you. Like I said, I'm no expert. I'm sure you know that the CWM updated and changed with JB.
ok guys i've got a minor inconvenience with my nexus 7.
first of all my device:
i'm running paranoidandroid 2.23 with clemsyn's power saving kernel. which i can recommend because it works like a charm and uses very little battery.
but now to my problem:
i'm using a 60gb external HDD with an OTG cable connected to my nexus 7. the problem now is, that the hdd is formatted in ntfs, which i won't change. everytime i connect my hdd to the nexus 7 the android system automatically mounts the partition READONLY as /storage/usbdisk.
i'm using "Paragon NTFS & HFS+" to mount ntfs partitions as R/W, which does of course not work since the partition is altready mounted by the android system. so now i always have to manually unmount the partition in android settings and then remount it with Paragon NTFS & HFS+.
my question now is: is there any way to disable the android system's automount of external usb mass storage device?
i know it's just a small inconvenience but it really gets to me, there must be some way around this hassle.
thx in advance
uuzi
Sorry for not having an answer, just wanted to +1 this. I could really use this solution as well.
Seriously need an answer. I tried deleting the last line of vold.fstab, which worked, but then my music players couldn't see anything, even if the drive was mounted with Paragon or OTG Helper
