I have just upgraded to FROYO through KIES after 3 HOURS of waiting.
But my is stuck at boot screen & vibrates..
i had tried the recovery but no use.
please help me...
Take the battery out, try recovery mode again.
Or you didnt uninstall your lagfix before updating.. If so, do a factory reset in the recovery console.
i did that by VOLUME UP + HOME + POWER.
it went into recovery mode i did every thing NO USE.
did wipe all data, factory, format sd card. Still no use.
i heard about hard reset VOLUME DOWN + (press & release) POWER
then clear storage.
BUT HARD RESET is not working for me..

If you are able to enter to download mode then try reflashing via odin it should work.

how much time would it take through ODIN for flashing???
I got the same issue here. And my SGS can not boot into download mode by hold 3 buttons.
Anyone knows what's the option for me now?
Thanks
Hi
I had the same issue it vibrated and didn't boot up. Remove SD Card, go to recovery via VOL UP + HOME + POWER button when you see boot screen releae all buttons. You are in recovery mode. Vol up down and select wipe data/ factory reset, confirm and your device shall boot.
My SGS booted after this and Yes I had OCLF lagfix installed, device rooted which I didn't remove prior to update. Now its fine again.
Now i tried to flash it through ODIN.
It was taking a long time so i stopped
it is displaying this

From this screen you sholud be able to enter in downloadmode. And, but I'm not sure, from this screen Kies should be able to recover the phone too...
Any way:
Always is a solution.... Search here, on forum, about JIG method to unbrick Galaxy S. You have to made a 301kohms rezistor and connect it on 2 pins from a usb cable. You'll see more pictures, it's easy to made it...
This JIG rezistor will always put the phone in download mode. From here you can reflash with Odin any rom you want.
But, if Odin stopped, there are 2 possibilities: you don't have the phones drivers installed corectly, or (and most important) you don't close Kies from Task Manager before launch Odin. If Kies is runing will take the comm port busy and Odin can't use it to comunicate with the phone.
Always close all Kies applications before flashing with Odin. It's very important.
Good luck.

please tell me a way to flash back to

and is it possible to upgrade to FROYO using KIES after flashing???
have you tried adb search youtube for a tutorial. you can reboot/recovery or download and much much more.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN DEBUGGING MODE WITH ADB. and i take out the sim card and ext sd card.
you use commands like c:\androidsdk\tools\adb reboot download
c:\androidsdk\tools\adb reboot recovery
c:\androidsdk\tools\adb reboot
also try apk 3.0 this lets you install apk's via your pc right to your phone, search for z4root apk on this site and use adb to reboot into recovery to apply update.zip
hope this helps, i also have no 3 button combo

Not sure why you would purposly stop Odin while it was running. All you are doing is creating a worse and worse situation for yourself by doing things like that.
It seems to me that you do not know enough about flashing, etc to even be concidering doing so, so... I reccomend that after you finally get your device up and running again that you ONLY flash through Kies and dont do anything else as you will likely end up with one issue after the other...

personally it amazes me when i read some of the horror stories on this site, i find it very couragous that anyone would attempt this without proper research, .
some of the complex hacks i am seeing just aren't needed, yet people risk bricking their phones. Anyway good luck to all who venture in to flashing, you dont learn if you dont try and without mistakes we would not learn as much so thankyou i know no what not to do hi.

Hey guys this may amuse some of you but hoping someone can help me out. I bought my SGS i9000 this morning about 4 hours ago and it was running Eclair. I tried flashign with Kies but wasn';t having much luck. Needed to try and get into download mode for Odin so decided to flash a key combo fix to get into Download mode because it wasn't working. Hello you have to buy usb.jig for sgs in ebay.for 5 euros or less and its solved

I tried that but PC is not recognising phone
Do you have samsung usb drivers installed on your pc ?
Yes I installed them before trying to flash. The PC is not even making any sounds while connected
Try a different USB port.
That sometimes resolves the PC not finding the phone.
I was under the impression that the I9000 was practically unbrickable.. Hm, there you go I guess.

My reputation on other forums will suggest otherwise
Sorry for you guy.
I semi bricked my sgs so many times and flashed it with odin. But never seen your screen.
I read somewhere that with only usb plug modified you can go to download mode. But i don't remember how
Thanks everyone for your replies. I have just ordered a USB jig for the phone. Hope it will help my situation
Hope it'll work ^^
Firstly this is not a bricked phone - I've been there - a brick is dead, dodo - yours is semi-bricked (its recoverable without returning to Samsung)
remove battery and replace battery
plug in USB
hold vol-, home, power buttons - it might force download mode from where you can flash a new rom
this thread holds all you need to know
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14957283&postcount=1
finally, a jig will work - I've had one since samsung f*cked the bootloaders up in their stock 2.2 eclair. Its the last resort but WILL work
best of luck, let me know if you have any luck with this advice
Thanks for the reply. I am glad to know that someone has been through this before and has fixed it with a Jig. Only down side is I have to go back to my Hero while waiting for my jig.
have you tried the link I gave you? have you tried option (a) to the letter? Where are you in S wales? I'm in Cardiff and I've got one
Good i found this thread, i've reflashed my phone like 50 times and done a lot of testing. Well first time i got that picture too but it was because my windows had gone wonky and odin did not find phone and i just removed battery and put it in again and the pic was there automaticly. The three button combo for download mode worked like a charm, was going to test it first but tought i better go and read before doing anything hasty

I've done most of those things. I've been at it for a while now. Only had the phone today too. I'm in Bridgend
ok....first follow that thread option (a) to the letter and it should work - if you got it from Carphone warehouse take it back - the one in Queen Street Cardiff fixed mine same day when I semi bricked mine in work and wasn't going home to sort out. as a bonus they flashed the latest FW - just play dumb - maybe try saying KIES offered you an upgrade which failed.
Finally when you get it sorted delete ALL drivers from your PC - your KIES problems are due to incompatibility of drivers following running Odin. Make sure that KIES is detecting your phone ok before letting Odin install its own drivers
Hi All,
I am trying to update my Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 via kies 3 to new firmware available. It downloaded the required files and then when the download gets completed, the green color android logo on phone comes up with a message "Downloading..Do not turn off the target".
The phone stays in that particular screen and after a while phone gets disconnected from kies3 and message prompt appear which says to "remove the battery and start the procedure again". I tried many times but still the same issue. After removing the battery and restarting the phone works fine as usual. I had also installed Samsung usb drivers but the same issue exists...
My PC OS : Windows 7
Phone : Android 4.3
Could anyone please help me as where i am going wrong? or do i need to install something on phone or PC.
1. Uninstall Kies 3 and the drivers completely. Install only Kies 3 coz it install the drivers too.
2. Charge ur phone till 80% or more
3. Start to install ur software by Kies 3

Thnks Joku, i tried performing steps as mentioned by you, but the same issue still exists.
1: I did the un-installation of samsung drivers and Kies 3, installed Kies 3 again.
2: The firmware update did begin but after the download was complete, the phone again got disconnected,
"It says Device driver software was not successfully installed" then again Kies 3 asks to do the following below steps:
"PC failed to recognise the mobile phone". etc.....
I did the last update over OTA and it was successful, this time for Kitkat, after checking over OTA it says " The latest update had already been installed" but in Kies 3 its shows an update is available.
Please help me as where its getting wrong and what do i need to do inorder to get it updated.

intially the phone gets detected and the firmware upgrade process goes smoothly, after it reaches 100% the phone gets disconnected and the green color logo appears on phone and the following screen appears on the kies 3. I am also giving the screenshot of my device manager in PC. I have also tried with installing/without installing adb drivers but same issue exists...

Hi Niku_19jan,
I am experiencing the same problem.
Did you only do a factory reset?
What does a factory reset whipe? Do you need to reinstall every app?
I had the same issue here. All I need is to change the screen lock to "swipe". Maybe because when the PC wanted to access my Galaxy S4, permission from phone granted. Because I was using the pattern lock screen, and I needed to drew it first so the Kies could connect my device. It's very simple, lucky I am.

Install SAMSUNG KIES AND USB Drivers for Samsung Galaxy Note to connect the Android device with the computer.
Enable USB Debugging Mode on phone to connect it with the computer.
[Navigate to Settings>> About phone>> tap Build number seven times. A pop up will appear, that reads, ‘You are now a developer.’ Go back to the Developer options and check USB debugging and click OK.]
As the tutorial is likely to wipe out all data of the phone, create a backup. If the device is having any custom recoveries such as CWM/TWRP then backup data using the same.
If the Android phone powers off due to lack of battery while the installation process, it could damage the device. Therefore, the Note 4 should have charge above 80% battery charge.

( desactive kies and anti-virus when using Odin )
-Check drivers installation by using other working Samsung device
-For me it's good working : Odin3 v1.85 & windows7 (a new réinstallation Os) + set of 4 folders xxlk1 .....
usb cable
It's probably caused by your usb cable , change it and install samsung usb drivers.
I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago
I've got the same problem couple of month ago.................
In my case its not the problem of the s\w because I checked changing computers..........
Not the problem of drivers as my friends galaxy y is connecting to pc
After spending huge time on it............ I gave up
Took it to repair shop.... Jst a small shop
He said its your pin problem ,,,, here pin refers to the slot where charging is kept to your phone
(I could charge my phone,, But I couldn't connect it to pc)
So he replaced pin and charged aprox 250 INR .................
Although the newly pin is not so good ,,, I mean it it to have connection issues............. But after unplugging & plugging 2 to 3 times it connects to pc.........
And my phn is bak
