Hey there, Im wondering if it's only my set that has this problem or not. I have spare htc's and apples earphones and both of them have mic.s for hands free talking. However when I plug them in to listen to music, sound appears all fuzzed up, certain frequencies such as bass are gone and/or comes out of only one side. The only way to fix this is by holding down the play/stop buttons found on these earphones. When I hold down the button, music playbacks just fine... Had problems with my headphones jack before and had it repaired but I noticed this phenomenom before the fix as well. Can any one test this out as well?
This is a known situation, there are two different ways used to connect the four wires to the jack-plug, HTC and some others use one method, and Nokia and Samsung use the other method.
Basically this means that unless you buy a special adapter/converter, the only headphones suitable for your SGS are some aftermarket sets and earphones from a Nokia phone.
Hope that this helps.
Yeh . Look for nokia n97 headsets

But will all third party Headphones work? I guess it would be better to go for those without microphones then, and to check if it works before buying. Thanks guys and sorry if this has already been answered...
That is god damned retarded. I'll have to sit through three hours of mad banter and public displays of affection in this train because someone decided to put their audio jack wires a bit different. This should be illegal.
Headphones should with fine. It's the mike that won't work. I've used apple and phillips headphones and they work fine. If you want to use custom headphones with a mike that works I've heard that you can get a nokia adapter that connects into the phone and headphones into it that should work. Can't remember the model number sorry.
Just had a look on ebay, think it's a nokia ad-43. Think it has the mike built into it though.

ive bought this exact thing, works great. using them with these headphones/mic: http://www.focalprice.com/EP222B/MP21_Inear_Headphones_with_Mic_Black.html
Picked up my new I9300 a few days back, love it...smooth, fast and simply gorgeous. Apart from one issue which is bugging me.*
I have a pair of Denon AH-C710's which I bought a couple of months ago. Worked great on my*I9100*but sadly they don't seem to be connecting right on my S3. They keep switching from stereo to mono with the slightest touch of the jack and the volume will dip...when the phones in my pocket it will jump around as I walk. Very annoying.
At first I thought it was the socket on the phone BUT the*Samsung headphones that came with it work fine, as do my old*I9100*headphones. There are 3 black rings on the jack as opposed to 2 black rings on my denons...could this be the issue?
Is there a quick fix to make the Denons compatible? Is it an issue with th phone? Should I return the phone?
I've thought about fixing the jack from my old*Samsung*headphones to the Denons extension jack ...if I mess up then it's just the extension that will be messed up.
What do you guys suggest?????

Sounds like your Denons have a bad headphone jack. Does not seem to be an issue with the GS3.
must say I've used a different set of "cans" with no problems here
That's what I thought, but the Denons are working fine through several other devices I've tried them in so I'm pretty much stumpt...
I'm pretty impressed with the sound from the stock headphones though...big improvement!
Any ideas??

Nevermind....it was my buds all along...Glad to find out my S3 is going strong!!!

Yeah i saw the headphones missing in the Box on Google Play... I am just worried about the audio quality of N4... If it uses the same DAC from the Optimus G then it would be great... There are hardly any DAC's compatible with the S4 Pro Chip, so i suppose we should get the same DAC thats in the Optimus G...
Any Thoughts on that??
I'm fine with no headphones I'll just go buy a pair.
I have a pair of Beats Solo HD's and Gummys.
Do we know if the aux port will support both audio out and audio in as well as the button?
The Nexus 7 aux port only supports audio out (no in or button).
On a phone, I'd expect audio in to be standard (microphone).
I have loads of headphones around that I could use, but because the headphone jack being on top annoys me I went ahead and ordered a pair of Tenqa Remxd.
So the wireless charger isn't included
At $299/349, did you really expect it to? It's probably going to be an extra $30-$50 accessory, like the Touchstone for those HP webOS devices was.
Eh, my G2x didn't come with headphones, so I don't really mind. Plus, I'll just use my LG HBS-700 Bluetooth Headset.
Not much of a big deal, those earphones that come with phones are usually pretty crappy.
I really hope the quality is at least close to the Wolfson DAC. That's going to make or break this one for me.
Ehh, I'm not too upset about that. Sure, they're nice to get with it, but back when I bought Apple devices, I'd always just end up selling the headphones to a friend for $10 or something, as I think they're (as in, most headphones that come with phones) are pretty awful. I'm not a big fan of in ear headphones anyways, so it's okay to me.
I was kind of hoping for some new headphones. My current ones have too short a cord, but I can't get rid of them because no one seems to make regular earbuds anymore. They all are these horrid squishy earbuds. I can't stand them in my ears. I need the solid form factor akin to the Apple earbuds.
Anyone know of a good brand (maybe even wireless option without some tacky band) for solid earbuds? I need something that can fit in a pocket and isn't made of the squishy buds that seem to be all the rage right now... I really don't want to have to buy some Apple earpods, but they are looking to be the only thing that's made without squishy-ness and with a microphone.

Actually, they're going to be the same as the Palm Pre ones, apparently, or at least compatible with the other touchstones with a Qi standard or something or another. They mentioned it in some of the other threads, but yeah, those are about 5 bucks on Amazon, so hopefully that's true.
Eh, not too worried. Never have used the headphones that come with a device.
Not bothered. They are usually naff anyway.
Wow, this sucks.
Edit: No actually, not really
have plenty of headphones laying around. no worries. and for how cheap this is i dont expect anything in the box but the phone and the charger.
You can actually pick up a pair of the OEM galaxy s3 headphones on ebay for under $6. I've been plenty happy with those (and have since bought a couple extra pairs, just because they're awesome).
klipsch s4A
klipsch s4A , I use it with my HTC One X ...very good sound quality :good:

Yup. I rather they're not included at all and keep the price down (which they have)
Besides, everyone should own a pair of good headphones! I'll be rocking my Shure E3's with it.
I have the soundmagic e10 M earphones + mic and the mic works perfect with this phone. Found out it works by accident after it never working with my old wildfire.
So I ask, will any headphones + mic that is apple certified work with this phone? I was under the impression it was only the HTC with beats phones but this was a nice surprise.
Any help will be great.

Not sure "all" will work, but I think most will. All headphones I have tried that are made for the iPhones have worked on the mic and answer/end side on the N4 in my case. YMMV though, depending on what you have. The only negative is that there are only a few headphones work with the forward/back or volume up and down buttons. There are apps like Jays headset app that let you map the center button by assigning a series of button presses, but I personally find it annoying because I can never remember how many presses are for volume up and down lol. And if you longpress any of the answer/end buttons, they open up google now. So it's a hit or miss but bottom line, most will work.
Any one button headphones with TRRS connector will work with Nexus 4.
OMTP jack is not compatible. (older device - Galaxy S, Sony experia 2011 series etc).
Nexus 4 needs a headset with CTIA connector. (post Galaxy S2 or 2012 series in general)

I got this one and works great.
Older ones have black rings on connector whole newer ones come with grey or white rings on 3.5mm connector.
If you want to buy in store you can use this method but I don't have any proof to support it.

It works with TRS too. I'm using a Logitech UE600 and its working.
Hi,
Could someone recommend decent (~up to 100 EUR) in ear earphones with volume control and mic that are compatible with xperia z3 compact?
Bought Sony Stereo Headset STH30 which are not in ear headphones, but at least the volume control works, then again I don't find them very comfortable, therefore I am looking for a similar in ear option.

These htc ones are confirmed working including volume buttons. I have bought them myself and they have pretty good sound which surprised me. Especially good with the mh750 preset.
They are comfortable, good looking, have tangle free wire and for that price you can't go wrong
