I've been using my phone since less than a week and during this time I haven't done anything but installed apps and use them - no rooting, no installing ROMs etc. Today my phone got switched off because of the battery getting discharged completely and after I switched it on, my SIM hasn't been getting detected. I restarted my phone, pulled out the SIM tray and inserted it again, but I still can't get the phone to detect my SIM. I tried *#*#4636#*#* and my IMEI number is shown. I ran it in the safe mode as well, and took the screenshots. Can someone please help me?

Hi guys - first post here, wish it was under less stressful circumstances. Anyway - got a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 today, I have no previous experience of such things, anyway, started it up, transferred contacts etc, installed the sniper program (for root access), Uploaded axera, went through all the motions but after reboot it was still the stock samsung apps, i did get the yellow android triangle digging and googled it which said just to pull the battery (maybe this is where things went wrong) - now the phone works with the standard samsung ROM but after entering PIN i get asked for SIM network unlock PIN. I am really ****ting it incase i have to send it back and they won't fix it - have i screwed my phone? please someone help!
There are a whole lot of missing steps there, and some of them are the important ones.
So far, it looks to me like you have locked it to a different carrier than your SIM card is for. There are unlock solutions on here to extract the unlock code from the phone. You will need to do one of these. If you cannot get past that screen try booting it without a SIM card installed (you will need to enable USB debugging to get the unlock code).
Hey guys. I would love some help here; recently I had my Nexus 4 lost, and found again. I called Virgin (My phone company) and cut my phone service off. Once I found it, I called and turned it back on. For about an hour it kept saying that the network could not be found, and when I tried to force it to connect in the settings, it said my sim card couldn't be used on the network. I did factory reset from the menu, but it only got worse. It than wouldn't even recognize I had a sim card. I looked online about IMEI and typed in #*06#* or whatever it was, and there was nothing there. Completely blank. I have no idea what to do, and am currently trying to flash stock rom. If it helps, I was running Paranoid Android 3.99 RC2 when I turned my phone service off. Any replies would be appreciated. Thanks.
*EDIT*: I restored to Android 4.4 using the factory image provided by Google, and I now have a IMEI number, but it still wont allow me to connect to the network.
*EDIT 2*: After doing some research on the Virgin site, I found out that there was a blacklist that your phones IMEI goes on after reporting it stolen. Basically, when I called in to get it off of it, it was never taken off. Those ****ers said it was going to cost me $150. This thread can be kept for future reference to other people, or deleted if needed. Thanks.

Thanks for the info, but I now have a IMEI number when I flashed Google's stock 4.4 image, but it still says it cant connect to the network. Any ideas?
Just restore any CWM or TWRP backup. It worked for me after i lost my imei and basband while flashing 4.4.
Nothing to do about a blacklist. Ask them again and explain the situation. Contact a consumer rights organization otherwise.

Hi good people, I am facing a problem. Around 8 hours back I tried calling someone but the call didn't connect so I restarted the phone and then I lost the network. I tried reboot, flashed different ROMs (unofficial CM14, cm13 nightly build n MM nougat backup), tried with GAPPS and without GAPPS but the problem is persisting. I even tried swapping the Sim cards before that but of no use. I tried debugging by using *#*#4636#*#* but ping test is failed and also there is "TURN RADIO ON" I believe ideally it should be "TURN RADIO OFF". please have a look at the screenshots. I'm almost dying without making important calls.
Update: Guys I have got it working.. Kindly look into my below posts. Please don't misguide people for small issues.
Thanks
In the screenshot we can also see, GSM SERVICE IS OFF. it stays the same even after clean flashing a new custom ROM.
Got it working. Flashed latest COS ROM file however the situation was still the same. Then I removed sim, switched on airplane mode restarted. After reboot inserted Sim then again restarted n then I got the signal
1. Removed Sim card, switched on airplane mode from both power menu and notification toggle.
2. Restart, inserted Sim card and switched off airplane setting from setting. (Notification toggle and power menu didn't work) then got the network.
Please note I tried with only one sim in sim 1 tray. Later I got the network for 2nd sim as well

Which rom did you flash and what was your method of flashing?
You also said simply flashing didn't work. It was what you did with reboot, aeroplane mode and taking out and reinsert the Sim that worked?
I've had the same problem for almost a month now... and i gave my phone to the service center. They called up to inform me that its a motherboard failure and they'll fix it.. I'll provide further info when I get my phone back (probably in 3-4 days)
P.S I tried almost every method to make it work. So if you couldn't make it work in first 2 days or so, dont waste your time and just give it for the servicing (make sure its in Stock OS so that they dont ask any questions about root xD )

I flashed almost every latest ROM. But no ROM got the network back. So as a last resort I flashed COS 12.1 and still didn't get the network. Then I removed both the sims, activated flight mode restarted the device, left it couple of minutes and inserted only one sim in first slot. Holla I got the network. Then everything is back to normal
If u r facing the same problem I would suggest u to activate flight mode n restart. If it doesn't work try by removing sim cards, if it still doesn't work try COS 12.1.

Usual procedure of flashing. Wipe cache, dalvik, system and data. Flash ROM + Gapps. Reboot
Try to search in the forum. There is a lot of threads with the same problem with the Zuk Z1. It is a hardware problem.

Your modem and baseband sections may be damaged. Modem structure is hidden under qualcomm structure. To Access and repair those sections, you need to do some modifications. I managed to make my Zuk Z1 worked again with some tweaking. Altering that part of the phone is illegal due to its restricted elements such as IMEI number. That's why I cannot post a tutorial here. İt is not allowed. However, I can help you if you personally contact me. I hope you get your signal back soon.

Please follow xda rules and don't tell people illegal things where they get in trouble. Keep in mind, that's not an illegal forum
Sure thing but I have already mentioned it. I didn't post anything illegal. So, take it easy.

Hi, I haven't still gone to the service centre. Kindly pm me the tutorial for getting signals back.
Hi,
when I got my Note 3, I immediately installed Cyanogenmod and from then I only swapped between custom ROMs.
I never actually made a backup of the stock system. (Yes, I was reckless.)
I also never made a backup of any custom ROM before that (Yes, I was really reckless.)
I recently switched from the unofficial Ressurection Remix (from now just called RR) 5.8.2 to the official RR 5.8.4 and since then my SIM card is not detected anymore.
For the setup, I first followed the guide on the thread itself.
Then I paniced and looked up stock firmware for my device, but since they all had more specific names like N9005XXUBMH1 (my phone only says N9005 under the battery), I couldn't identify which one was the correct one and just downloaded a whole bunch and flashed them until one of them worked.
The stock firmware I flashed actually had a working SIM, but was also using power like crazy. I went from 1.5 days to half a day. The stock OS is also horribly bloated in my opinion.
So I looked through the forum and found the Rock Stable Setup, I followed it and got the same result.
I made plenty of nandroid backups with TWRP and restored that every time I started the phone and saw that the SIM wasn't found.
I am currently running RR 5.8.4 and a seperate phone for being reachable, but I would really like reduce that to one phone again.
When I dial *#06# in RR, I just see a windows with IMEI as title but no content. (It shows one in the stock ROM)
Things I have already tried:
Solution Lineage OS No Sim
UpdatePackage by -ION-
If you need any more information, I'd be happy to provide them!
I just really want to use my phone to it's fullest capability again.
Thanks to all replies in advance

I know that there are a lot of threads regarding this issue, but most of them are different phones (not N9005) or different conditions.
The ones that I did find that match my conditions roughly are already listed in the first post.
Therefore I belive that my case is different from those threads.
If you find one that I messed, please refer me.
RR rom
Answer You are using an Old Modem .

I only now read about 'getting the firmware to stick'.
I had to flash it three times until both the bootloader and modem versions changed.
Now I have a differen problem:
I can't call or send SMS.
Mobile data works and receiving calls and SMS works flawlessly, even though it sometimes loses contact with the tower.
Anything that cam up in search had either everything not working or solved it in a way that didn't work for me.
I tried rebooting, putting it in a different phone (SIM works there just fine) and putting it back...
Same here... my SIM card is not detected.
I can´t find a way to make it connect to my mobile provider...
It shows no EMEI in "Phone info" app, I asked for help in a RR thread...
If you make it work, please, reply here.
EDIT: Nevermind, this worked https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72986417&postcount=4141
Hi all,
I have a problem with my XC, i hope there's someone here who could help me out with this .
I get a SIM card error when i start the phone. After a while (5-10 mins) the error transforms into "No Service" as if the phone now detects the SIM card but has no service whatsoever.
Things i did to my phone prior to this:
- unlocked bootloader
- installed custom recovery
- root
- installed custom ROM
- drm fix
The phone did function properly for a few months actually after these operations without a SIM card error even once. But then i tried to install custom ROMs again (and i'm sure didn't flash ROMs not suited for XC) -actually tried to install "existenz" ROM but i did get a bootloop so i -once again- did the usual procedure with flashtool and flashed a firmware to set everything back to stock as close as possible. That was, when i started to get the SIM card errors. After several restarts (cold and warm) the phone sometimes recognized the SIM card and i could use the phone normally. But this was true only till the next restart, where i got the same SIM errors again.
Things i tried:
- flashed several different firmwares (official) with flashtool (wiping everything) - all the newest firmwares.
- *#*#72786#*#* in dialer to wipe carrier settings
- *#*#4636#*#* in dialer to go into phone settings and changing those settings randomly
- flashed another AOSP based custom ROM instead of stock sony
- wiping and formatting everything between the flashes of course
- cleaning and re-inserting SIM card (which i never took out before anyway)
But unfortunately nothing worked. Phone keeps to not recognizing the SIM card (which is working just fine in another phone). Everything else works just fine on the phone. The IMEI is displaying correct. I'm almost certain that the fault isn't hardware-based (i didn't drop the phone or exposed in water etc.) but software-based. Did i just managed to brick my phone by flashing something related to the modem which i'm not aware of?
I can't find any solutions on google, which help me, which is why i'm posting it here. Sorry for the long post.
Did anyone experience such an error and/or knows what else i could try to fix this? I hope for answers
Thanks in advance!
Anyone?
I've got the same problem.
I didn't unlock the bootloader or anything prior to getting the bug.
I wanted to downgrade to nougat, because aparently it helped someone in the forum below, but I didn't manage to do it.
https:// de.ifixit. com/Antworten/Ansehen/468864/Sim+Card+not+picking+up+mobile+network.+Possible+software+issue+(Oreo)
Did you try nougat, when flashing different firmwares?
Your post makes me question if its worth it, trying to downgrade.
Try to remove sd card if you have one. then restart the phone and see if sim card is recognized.
I had the same problem and I think it was a hardware failure in the end.
I also tried almost all the things you were writing above. In my phone it started slowly. Sometimes the SIM was detected but after some time the connection was lost.
It happened some time after I installed a new battery.
But since there are no original batteries available for the device anymore and the new battery was even worse than the 5 year old original battery, I gave up investigating the SIM issue and don't use the phone any longer.
I bought a new (used) x compact because I still like the size and I saw some development was going on for this device.
In the end I cannot tell whether the SIM was not detected because I broke something while changing the battery or due to age of the phone but I think it was a "normal" failure.
I also read from others that they had the problem and the SIM was working for some time after I switched the battery before it stopped working.
Nevertheless. Good Luck to you. Maybe it is something different on your phone.
