I hope I'm not inadvertently starting a thread that's been discussed before.
I'm having an awful battery life on my S3. I'm on ELLA (UK). It generally last me for the day which is sufficient enough, but I heard a lot about people having 2.5 days on battery with Siyah Kernel installed.
Question: what really is Siyah Kernel for? Does it really improve battery life? What are the setting to improve battery life with SK.
I've been using Juice Defender and while it definitely saves my battery, I'm making my supposedly "smart" phone dumb by not having push notifications and such.
Thanks.
There is a siyah discussion thread in general

Hi I'm a Indian user
Last week I updated my note3 to xxuenf3 firmware then I had very terrible battery life
I'm getting just 4 hour on screen sometimes I get 3 hours :crying:
Guys please help me to increase my battery life
I don't want to root my device
May post your battery usage page to see what drains that much. The more experienced guys here may correct me but i guess without rooting there arent too many options to safe battery.

what about android system it also consuming more amount of battery
The more experienced people can say more to that as me. Specially with your desire to not root your phone. There are as far i remember serval bugs causing system to drain more battery but i think it was way more than. Maybe search arroubd here for that bugs for more info about it could not be too wrong tho

thank how to root n900 ???
then should i install custom rom for good battery life
Added link
There are serval threads about that. Just follow the steps within thread step by step and youll be good to go. But read up within the threads about consequenses and risks. You wont need custom rom an custom kernel will do good aswell. I have nice experiences with ultimate kernel. Important to know is you have to read up if the kernel/rom is confirmed as working with exactly your device. For example international note 3 = sm-n9005
Here is an excellent written guide on how to safe up some battery

Hey everyone.
I get about 3.5 hours of SOT with a max of around 4 from time to time. (Adaptive brightness turned off, brightness set to around 50%) I'm not an aggressive user and I've even had my battery go low before I've even reached 3 hours of screen time. I'm on stock rooted with nothing real special going on. I'm not against using a different rom if I have to in order to get better battery life.
My experience so far is that the battery seems average at best. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks
Forgot to mention, I do leave wifi and bluetooth on 24/7. GPS is usually set to high accuracy as well. Wifi & bluetooth scanning are both off. In the battery stats page it shows the device being in an awaken state a lot more than when the screen is actually on... bluetooth wake lock issue?
Sounds good

I pray this is sarcasm.
3/4 of this forum is being saturated by SoT topics and posts, and ppl thinking they should be getting 24hrs of screen time.
This could have EASILY been placed in any of those threads, is my point.

im easily getting 6-8 hours of SOT. pure nexus, elementalx, and greenify. i use my phone all day and still get 17-20 hours of total use. everything on and when battery gets to about 30% i turn on powersave option with the elementalx app. also with the elementalx i use the settings posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-advanced-interactive-governor-t3269557 and my phone hasnt bogged down whatsoever. give it a try.

I agree it's unnecessary but no need to be a ****, it's not that big of a deal.

I get about 3.5 - 4 hours it honestly depends on your usage, there's a battery life thread in real reviews you should check out battery life is going to be different for everyone. Signal strength, carrier, amount used on wifi, personal use, apps all have a factor on it.
I've always gotten between 5-6 hours SOT. I don't leave all that on. If I'm not using it I turn it off and I use a custom kernel always. Usually ak or Kylo. Best battery I've ever gotten constantly on any device I've ever owned.

Hello redmi 2 users,
I have written this thread to get to know the best battery backup for our small redmi 2
So i would like people here using different roms and with custom kernels to post their best battery backup
A screenshot Showing screen on time telling which rom and kernel with any settings for battery saving if you are using
This will help other redmi 2 users to get to know which rom and kernel combination helps in battery saving
i'm currently using jerrica finale + miui8 with the interactive tweak in this forum
greenify+amplify and performance is 100%
battery is good with messagins, watching videos or light gaming, average 4-5 hours SoT

I agree that the battery is not great.... I'm currently running latest cm13 build with pico gapps and I've seen some improvement with not having google app installed but I still don't get into doze at any point...

Here the battery has improved a lot just by turning off wifi and bluetooth GPS assistance ...
I've observed an overall decrease in battery too. I've tried PAC and Slim. Now on RR (which seems to have battery life close to stock).
But again that's with Greenify (with Xposed and Amplify.
I guess until a few more updates, battery life wouldn't be as good as stock.

Temasks CM13 gave me absolutely horrible battery life. So far Pacrom has been the best.
Can someone give me tips how to increase battery life on this phone, I'm on stock firmware with latest security patch.
I tried lots of roms and kernels none have helped.
This is ridiculous, I'd be thankful if someone helps me out.
Maybe you need to change the battery.
Wow, 24 min of screen on time and it has decreased 14%?! I think you need to change the battery. Can you please share your app usage and graph, when almost at 0%?
---------- Post added at 05:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:29 AM ----------
Or you can root, and install kernel adiutor and underclock it to 1.4 GHz , I've got around 8-10 hours of screen on time.
