Is any one else seeing the gesture typing and keyboard popping up laging. I have to reboot my phone every morning as the lag starts, the night before it's fine.
Symptoms, select a text entry box and the back key turns into the down arrow, but the keyboard does not appear, click the down arrow and click in the text box again keyboard will appear but delayed, then gesture type and everything lags, words are not formed by your finger fluid, the path is not shown in real time and when I have finished the word it takes a second to show up in the box.
I thought it may be the fact I use tasker to manage bedside clock starting only when i plug in at night, but I have done testing during the day and it does not happen.

most likely a CPU scaling problem.
if you're not on stock rom, try to switch to the performance governor and try if it works better
Change governors and kernels. On ondemand I had laggy swype, of course I'm UC to 1.35 GHz.

A little more info, I found that if I wait for the keyboard to pop up( can be 15 - 20 seconds) then press the microphone for voice typing, exit this it all works fine ????

So it seem no one has been able to solve the trackpad wake for froyo then. The wildpuzzle patch doesn't work, third party apps like widget locker not working as confirmed by developer and others that keep the phone awake is useless since it drains battery.
What did Google do to the key layout?
Even cyanogen built-in setting doesn't work.

Thanx for suggesting this app it does help saving to press the power, but I find it keeps my phone in the wake since the sensors always on thus draining battery. But it is better than the power button every time.

No that patch doesn't work on v0.8, it even locks all keys when the phone falls into deep sleep requiring power and trackpad buttons together to wake it up.
The app suggested by villis87 is the closest thing to avoid using the power button too much.

Hey guys, I have been using the standard browser that is stock, and also been using skyfire.
How can i get he standard browser to be set up as a standard pc, not to view in mobile.
Also what browsers are everyone using?
for my second question? how do you close the apps that are running under the multitask. using he advancced task killer doesnt kill them.
i do have my tab rooted! running stock rom

Do a search with about:debug and I'll find ur answer aabout the mobile sites.
I use dolphin browser HD
And there is an auto taskkiller built in, you don't need to mess with ending running apps android is smart and will do this for you.

I like dolphin browser, but can't seem to get the back button to actually go back a page, is there something I'm missing?
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
I have a lot of trouble with the back button in Dolphine too.. specifically if flash is involved on the pages, but not sure that has anything to do with it.
For the stock browser, type "Aboutebug" into the address bar, then check the browser settings.. There will be a new menu option called "Debug" where you can set the UAString.
HOWEVER. if the browser closes and your run it again, you have to do the "Aboutebug" again (but don't have to change the UAString). It seems to ingore the UAString unless you do the about:debug everytime you launch the app. You'll see what I mean after a few times. Just create yourself a bookmark to about:debug, so it's handy.
It seems the "tab history" add on for dolphin can be used as a work around to the back button trouble we are having, I had actually stopped using dolphin because of it, but I think ill use that add on and deal with it. I've had some issues where dolphin seems slower to load than the stock browser, but its silky smooth scrolling and extra tools (gesture controls especialy) make having to use the tab add on a worthwhile hassle.
I think ill make a gesture control for going back a page and see if that works any better

In Dolphin HD, I just tap the gestures symbol in the lower left corner and then draw a < on the screen. Works every time.

Multitasking is possible. You need to switch between apps using the third button from left on the lower bar. By using the first button ('back') or the second button ('home') the previous app doesn't close, but won't actively work either.
Stock As Desktop
To set up your stock browser to run like a Desktop Browser.
goto url
type about:debug then enter
then goto "settings"
then "Debug"
touch "UAString" and select Desktop!
I've never had a problem using the back button in dolphin.
This is driving me nuts! I know Samsung implemented it to check for the voice input, but is there any way to disable the voice input so pressing the home button gives us an instant action?
I doubt it's due to the voice input function. It's bugging me too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15011538#post15011538
This isn't about the wake from lock screen. It's about the home button not responding instantly when the device is awake.
Every time I hit the home button while navigating/apps it always pauses for a sec before acting.
This is such an unnecessary speed bump on an otherwise speedy device.
I just removed voice input using Titanium Backup. I don't need it.

After a fresh restart the home button does have a delay but not intolerable. After using the phone for a few hours (more like a day) the home button reaction times gradually increase to a point of slowdown and irritation. A restart fixes it again.
Anyone else noticed this?

I've been experiencing this quite a lot
Surfing the net pressing home button and find the home screen reloads. So bit of a lag which is very annoying, until samsung sort this out with a software update there is a work around. Simply disable s-voice from.settings that's it. I haven't actually experienced screen reload since.
Let me know if this works for you or not.
Try this
Untick under s-voice settings the following:
Launch S Voice
Wake up command
Under application manager go to running select s-voice and stop all services.
Go to all and disable s-voice. This will remove the app from app draw list too, you can also disable chat on app too.
This should stop the app running in the background.
My mate has got this phone has has also experienced this problem a bit as well.
I was just wondering when you say 'disable s voice' do you just mean just disable s voice opening when double pressing the home button? Or is there a setting to actually turn it off?

I would also like to know this. I stopped s voice opening when I double tap home button. That fixed the home button lag, however, I'm still experiencing the ocassional reload of the home screens.

Another nice side effect is it makes the phone feel alot snappier because it removes the home button lag.
EDIT: should have refreshed the thread :/ mattyt_491 was faster.. I don't think there is a way to disable it completely (without rooting) I didn't have any reloads since I disabled the double click. Then again I restarted the phone and it usually takes half a day or so to start happening..

Guys don't get frustrated. As per thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694508&page=3, just set the size of dalvik cache to 128MB and everything will be fine. My personal experience, just perform these two extra steps:
1. Use Nova Launcher or Apex, takes less memory
2. Use 2D rendering from developer options, It does not make it slow at all.
3. From developer option, limit background processes to 4. Trust me you will not notice it.
4. And yes, disable S voice after you are done with initial experiment. Its not useful for anything.
And my phone is working snappier as it was when I opened the box. I will update it after few day's use. Running smoothly for 2 days. Today is third.

Why don't I have this problem? I think it's be ause I usually check what's open and close things. You should go into deb settings and have 4 processes max to test if it really is your memory or you just need to reflash.

I'm having the same problem.
Is rooting the phone and making these adjustments the only solution to this issue?
Switching off S-voice did work temporarily, but the problem has returned.
I'm new to andorid having just switched over from the dark side of iOS. Is Samsung likely to fix this in a coming update?
I find it hard to believe they didn't spot this in pre-testing the phone.
Thanks

Yes, But as you are not on the launcher all time, it's not significant. I have about 2-3 percent more battery usage per day after installing this launcher.

Definitely yes, If you enable hotword detection on "Google Now Launcher" and "Omnirom launcher" you will have more battery and RAM usage, but as you are not in the launcher all day, It's not significant. I think trading 2-3 percent battery and 5-10MB RAM with hotword detection feature is a good deal.

Tried it on my Note II CM11 based Rom.
Would not install as APK but of course was able to flash. However it sort of hangs. I can select the Launcher 3 from settings but then it just stays there. No Home actually comes up. It just hangs. Have to go back to settings and change to Google Home and everything works. Not sure why.
